00:07 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we'll be counting down our picks for the funniest,
00:11 catchiest, and most creative songs in American Dad.
00:14 All I knew was, daddy's gone.
00:19 And we're not going home.
00:23 Number 10 - Good Morning, USA
00:27 If you couldn't already tell, Seth MacFarlane loves a great musical number.
00:31 While the Family Guy intro may be his magnum opus, Good Morning, USA is no slouch.
00:35 Good morning, USA. I got a feeling that it's gonna be a wonderful day.
00:42 It makes use of MacFarlane's operatic singing voice and a catchy melody,
00:45 both serving as a punchy opening for the animated sitcom.
00:48 It's brief, but memorable, and it's effectively exemplary of Stan's patriotic and uncompromising character.
00:54 Oh boy, it's swell to say, good morning, USA.
01:00 Not only does the anthemic sound prepare you for a hilarious 20 minutes of television,
01:04 but the accompanying animation changes slightly for each episode.
01:07 This allows for a boatload of refreshing jokes, including the various newspaper headlines.
01:12 The slammin' orchestral accompaniment is as over-exaggerated as the show's humor,
01:16 and the combination lets you know exactly what you're in for.
01:19 Good morning, USA!
01:22 Number 9 - Reginald the Koala
01:25 In a show full of bizarre characters, Reginald stands out as one of the strangest.
01:29 Easy, baby. I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut.
01:33 Except I'm a koala.
01:35 In his first appearance, he's accompanied by a theme song explaining how he ended up in his predicament.
01:40 Previously a homeless man, the CIA tricked him into switching brains with a koala,
01:45 becoming an agent who uses his cuteness to infiltrate various agencies.
01:48 Reginald, and he used to be nothing.
01:52 Now he's a koala, and he's cute as a button.
01:55 Reginald would later become a prominent supporting cast member,
01:58 and this catchy song likely didn't hurt the adorable marsupial's popularity among fans.
02:03 Now he's a koala, and he's cute as a button.
02:06 The song would also become a central part of both the character's brand and charm.
02:10 Number 8 - El Perro
02:12 This song accompanies a scene wherein Greg, Terry, and Stan chase Roger through their neighborhood.
02:18 El perro, el perro, es mi corazón.
02:21 El gato, el gato, el gato no es bueno.
02:25 It may seem mismatched, but feels appropriately weird enough for the show.
02:28 It's entirely in Spanish, with most of the lyrics translating to nothing but nonsense
02:32 and boastful lyrics about this fictional singer, Cilantro.
02:35 Cilantro es caliente, cilantro es cariñoso.
02:39 Some of the translations include "the dog is my heart", "the cat is obscene",
02:43 and "Cilantro is the man with the cheese of the devil".
02:45 We couldn't make stuff like this up, but that's why we aren't lyricists for American Dad.
02:49 Mejor que su esposo.
02:51 Number 7 - When I Was His Alien
02:54 Remember Jessie's song from Toy Story 2 that more than likely had you in tears?
02:58 When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful.
03:04 Leave it to American Dad to create a parody that will leave you in stitches instead.
03:08 As Roger laments Steve's lack of interest in him,
03:11 a series of equally hilarious visual gags from their past relationship play,
03:14 and it seems like his memories may be tinted by nostalgia glasses.
03:18 When I was his alien, every day was tangerine.
03:27 It recreates several moments from "When She Loved Me", but puts a comedic spin on them.
03:31 Now I'm not his alien, sadness is my only friend.
03:41 After a rare display of vulnerability, however, Roger finds that he has the perfect solution to his sadness.
03:46 Well, that didn't solve anything. Guess I'll just go out and get hammered.
03:50 Number 6 - You Get The Rod
03:52 When Steve's naughty attitude catches the attention of Krompus, a European mythical demon,
03:57 it's his responsibility to set the bad boy straight.
04:00 You need to be punished.
04:02 If you lay so much as one finger on me, I will...
04:05 Who are you talking to? I'm Krompus, bitch.
04:07 I'll do whatever I please. This is my expertise.
04:11 The Anti-Santa sings a soulful refrain all about the pain and punishment that comes to boys who misbehave around the holidays.
04:17 Danny Glover provides the speaking voice of Krompus,
04:20 while the late R&B singer Charles Bradley takes over for the singing.
04:23 Show you that life is pain, not some silly, stupid game.
04:29 We do it my way.
04:32 This allows the series to utilize its most musically talented voice yet,
04:35 without sacrificing any of the comedy in the process.
04:38 The episode also features a duet between him and Steve,
04:41 but allows the mythical character to take over results in a memorable and epic number.
04:45 Oh, I know that we've been bad,
04:48 but we don't want this sad no more.
04:53 Number 5 - We're Red and We're Gay
04:56 When Stan fails to understand how log cabin Republicans can be both gay and conservative,
05:01 the men clear it up with this uproariously campy number.
05:04 But baby, like Virginia Slims,
05:07 we've come a long, long way.
05:12 Pairing quips about gay stereotypes with Republican stereotypes,
05:16 it becomes an absurd satire while still displaying the show's love of extravagant set pieces.
05:20 Your skin looks so toned, now spritz with fancy cologne.
05:25 These pants make you slim, US defense we won't trim.
05:30 It also gets bonus points for showcasing the Smith's underutilized neighbor, Greg,
05:34 as well as Sec McFarlane's always welcome singing voice.
05:37 We're red and we're gay.
05:43 Fingers crossed the log cabin Republicans haven't made their last appearance on the show.
05:48 Number 4 - Is She Not Hot Enough?
05:50 Steve's singing voice has always been the series' secret weapon,
05:53 and it's always a pleasant surprise when we're treated to it.
05:56 Heartbroken that his dad has been paying attention to other women,
05:59 he channels D'Angelo to deliver this R&B ode to his mother.
06:02 I can't see what's wrong with you.
06:05 You got a wife, a hot one too,
06:08 but if you keep on looking, you won't end up together.
06:12 As disturbing as it gets, it's true to Steve's mama's boy persona,
06:15 and his vocal inflection and commitment are impressively evocative of the type of music it's parroting.
06:20 Oh my God, is she not hot enough for your dad?
06:27 The cherry on top is the ridiculous body that's animated onto him as he describes his mom's hotness.
06:32 Oh my God, oh my God.
06:35 Now I'm thinking maybe she's just too hot for someone as blind as you.
06:42 Number 3 - Girl, You Need a Shot of B-12, Boys 12
06:46 The cringeworthy songs of teenage boy bands make for some great comedic fodder.
06:50 Here, Steve, Snot, Barry and Toshi join eight others to form Boys 12
06:55 and drop their debut music video.
06:57 Boys 12 are the biggest boy band and that's for sure.
06:59 More boys than I think you've ever seen before.
07:01 From hilarious to hilariously bad, the lyrics are hysterical
07:05 and ruthlessly poke fun at both old and recent boy band trends.
07:08 Girl, you need a shot of B-12, you know you do.
07:15 The video is a random amalgamation of scenes that could believably be in a music video like this.
07:20 Girl, you want a shot of Boys 12, it's overdue.
07:28 Though it's one of the funniest songs produced by the show,
07:30 we have to admit that the chorus is damn catchy.
07:33 Number 2 - Daddy's Gone
07:35 The musical episode "Hot Water", guest starring CeeLo Green as an evil hot tub,
07:39 could have populated half the list with songs like "Dip a Toe", "Do Whatever You Like" and "Hot Tub of Love"
07:44 all under serious consideration for ranking.
07:46 It's just you and me, an L-U-V and the T-U-V.
07:52 Hot tub of love.
07:55 However, Stephen Rogers' sublime duet topped the rest.
07:58 The inexplicable abs return as the two lament losing Stan in the hot tub
08:02 in a melodramatic 90's pop throwback.
08:04 We're never gonna find another father like you.
08:08 Now we won't, now we won't, now we won't.
08:12 Scott Grimes' far too serious vocals fit the song perfectly to make it both impressive and funny.
08:17 This episode was intended to serve as a potential serious finale,
08:20 which would have made this Stephen Rogers' final scene ever.
08:23 Daddy's gone, and we're not going home ever again.
08:32 Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
08:36 Worst Place in the World
08:38 Trapped in the Locker

09:10 Olly North
09:12 The creativity and political commentary of this brilliant series is on full display in Olly North.
09:17 I can't believe you kids don't know about the great patriot Olly North.
09:21 In a parody of the style of Schoolhouse Rock, it takes the E-Ron Contra affair
09:25 and puts it through the somewhat delusional lens of Stan's blind political affiliations.
09:29 But then a hero came forth, his name was Oliver North.
09:33 He and Reagan went around the sissy Congress.
09:37 Stan's love for Reagan and his ignorance of a morally murky situation
09:41 epitomize his essential character traits, while also exhibiting his major charm.
09:45 'Cause what they did was technically high treason, but it was totally justified.
09:53 Equal Parts Entertaining and Enlightening
09:55 This song proves that though American Dad can nail being silly and lowbrow,
09:59 it can also be incredibly intelligent.
10:01 Which of these songs has you singing along? Tell us in the comments.
10:05 Oh girl, you need a shot of B-12
