Two matches and two defeats, both by big margins. In their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opener, the Netherlands lost to Pakistan by 81 runs. It was followed by a 99-run defeat against New Zealand on Monday (October 9). Colin Ackermann, who waged a lone battle while chasing a target of 323 runs against the Kiwis, said that the Netherlands "were kind of on track to chase that down" the target, and all he needed was partners. The South African-born hit a strokeful 69 off 73. (Video: ICC)

00:02 - Yeah, I was looking to just try and take it
00:06 as deep as possible.
00:08 We knew that New Zealand wanted to try and take
00:10 as many wickets early on.
00:11 So we kind of had to absorb a bit of pressure.
00:14 Like I said earlier, we were 150 after 30 overs.
00:19 So we're kind of on track to chase that down.
00:20 But I think we're four wickets down at that stage.
00:23 So we needed to be maybe three wickets down,
00:25 going into the last 20 overs with wickets in hand.
00:27 You know, we know that we can chase that down.
