Marcial sets to knock out opponents in Paris Olympics
Instead of complaining about his performance in his finals loss at the 19th Asian Games in China, Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial would rather use it as a motivation to train harder for the Paris Olympics in 2024. Speaking to media in Makati City on Sunday evening on Oct. 8, 2023, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist said that his ultimate goal is to knock the opposition out and thus shut down the possibility of any rigged decision by the judges. A lot of Filipino fans said Marcial was the real winner in the men's 80kg final against Chinese Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan.

00:00 You said earlier, and Pacquiao said it too, that you should feel the win.
00:07 Going to the Olympics, are you more determined to win the gold?
00:11 That's really what I want to get. Why I fight again in the amateur because I want to get the gold in the Olympics.
00:22 I qualified for the Asian Games, a lot of people said I should win, I was cheated.
00:31 I used my motivation to work harder in my training.
00:41 If I was knocked out, I would have no question that I can't win.
00:52 I take that as motivation for my training, for my preparation for my next fight and for the Olympics.
01:07 I accept the judges' decision, I respect them.
01:14 So whatever the result of the fight, I will respect it.
01:22 If you see each other again in the Olympics, are you aiming to knock him out?
01:28 That's the plan, I should knock him out so I won't have to obey the judges' decision.
01:37 But of course, I can't say that right away because I'm preparing for the gold.
01:45 Especially when it comes to the Olympics, the boxers are more prepared.
01:51 I have a lot of time to develop my skills, to get stronger and to increase my experience.
02:01 So that's the plan.
02:03 Thank you.
