00:00 I'm Laurie Blake, welcome to the WrestleTalk News, this Sunday we wear pink, amen.
00:12 Have you been tuned in at all to our channel WrestleTalk.com, X or even just the general
00:18 internet this weekend then you will of course know that there has been a whole load of noise
00:23 regarding CM Punk potentially joining WWE.
00:26 It all began when Dave Meltzer broke in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on Friday that
00:31 WWE and Punk were "in talks" and that it was Punk's intention to return to his
00:37 former employer.
00:38 A return date of Survivor Series on November 25th was touted as a safe bet by House of
00:42 Wrestling with a further report by Fightful Select blowing the situation wide open.
00:47 The short version being that despite WWE and those close to Punk feeling that Punk would
00:51 indeed return, nobody in WWE has yet been told that Punk is coming back, but it is certainly
00:57 not an impossibility.
00:58 However, according to reports, most of the top talent, including potentially WWE's
01:03 two top world champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, are opposed to the idea, with many
01:08 fences to be mended before it could happen.
01:11 CM Punk to do some sort of Tom Sawyer apology tour.
01:14 So this leads us to last night's edition of the show that was born off CM Punk's
01:18 back, AEW Collision.
01:20 Now Collision is of course completely Punk free these days, his old pals FTR still call
01:25 it home, and were in action in the show's opener defending their AEW tag team titles
01:30 against Big Bill and Ricky Starks.
01:33 A match that shockingly concluded in just 5 minutes with FTR getting utterly squashed
01:39 and losing their beloved tag straps.
01:42 What the FTR is going on?
01:46 Considering that AEW were seemingly teeing us up for FTR vs The Young Bucks number 4
01:50 at Full Gear, and of course the way in which they were utterly jobbed out on Saturday,
01:54 many alarm bells began ringing.
01:57 Especially when following the match, Dax Harwood tweeted "Wanna run?
02:01 Love you all.
02:02 Top guys out."
02:03 This of course led to everyone freaking out and speculating that FTR were on their way
02:08 out of AEW, perhaps even potentially following their pal Phil to WWE.
02:14 Speculation that was furthered on the very same day the Punk News first broke when it
02:17 was revealed that Dax had trademarked CMFTR, the team name they had used with Punk.
02:22 Adding even further to the hullabaloo is of course all the talk of WWE snapping up AEW
02:27 talent lately.
02:28 WWE have been parading around former TBS Champion Jade Cargill since she put pen to paper with
02:33 the company, with reports of other names such as Ricky Starks joining his pals Cody and
02:37 Jade in Stanford at some point as well.
02:40 So what gives?
02:44 Well, despite all the noise it seems as if perhaps everyone has jumped the gun on this
02:49 particular occasion.
02:50 Shocker, I know, it's wrestling news.
02:53 Just an hour following his "top guys out" tweet, Harwood would once again jump on X
02:56 to quell the speculation, saying "Guys, I say top guys out all the time.
03:02 We ain't going nowhere.
03:04 This is our home."
03:05 I don't think it was just the "top guys out" bit, it was the "wanna run, top guys
03:09 out".
03:10 Fightful Select would then later pour more cold water on the flames by confirming that
03:14 FTR are actually signed to AEW until roughly 2027, with the relationship between them and
03:20 the company being "fine" as of late.
03:22 You fired our friend, but it's fine.
03:24 Fightful noted that due to the nature of the match, with Cash Wheeler being taken out early
03:28 and Dax taking the brunt of the offence, the loss could instead be injury related, with
03:33 that injury potentially coming at AEW WrestleDream.
03:37 While initially just speculation, Bryan Alvarez would later confirm that Cash was in fact
03:41 injured, with AEW at least portraying that the injury occurred at WrestleDream, saying
03:46 "Cash is injured".
03:48 The story they told on television is at the pay-per-view when Ozzy opened random together,
03:52 FTR had sold it like he'd injured his rib there, and he sold his ribs throughout the
03:57 match on collision.
03:58 Despite the story being told of a rib injury, it's not actually clear what the full extent
04:01 of it is just yet, and how long to expect to see FTR on the shelf because of it.
04:06 This potential injury for Cash perhaps explains why, according to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fast
04:10 Lane Review Show, the FTR were in fact in favour of dropping their titles.
04:14 In fact there has even been speculation that Dax and Cash were supposed to drop the belts
04:18 at WrestleDream to Ozzy open.
04:20 However, given yet another injury being suffered by Mark Davis during that match, an audible
04:24 was potentially called and FTR instead retained.
04:27 Carfletcher has now moved on to singles stuff.
04:30 So in summary, maybe this one is a false alarm.
04:32 However, that's not to say don't expect more AEW arrivals into WWE's doors in future.
04:38 Because speaking at the WWE Fastlane post-show presser, Cody Rhodes was asked about someone
04:42 he knows very well, Jade Cargill, and her move to WWE, revealing that he was "very
04:47 excited and very proud" to see Jade make the leap to WWE.
04:51 Following this he was also posed the topic of more of his former AEW colleagues jumping
04:55 ship to which he said "It's not going to be my job to be the liaison to my former
04:59 peers or whomever.
05:00 I would hope everyone does what's right for them, right?
05:03 It's what's right for you."
05:05 While seemingly unlikely for FTR despite their title loss, my question to you is, who
05:09 do you think in AEW should jump ship to WWE?
05:13 Let us know in the comments down below.
05:15 Sticking with that Fastlane chat, and as much of a treat as it's been having John Cena
05:19 back on our screens on a weekly basis, it was always going to be an "enjoy it while
05:24 it lasts" type of deal.
05:26 His big match John is obviously usually Big Wizard John, with plenty of Hollywood irons
05:31 in the fire.
05:32 Meaning that when the ongoing SAG-AFTER strikes eventually end, one would assume that Cena
05:36 will once more be summoned to become a merman or a superhero or inexplicably Vin Diesel's
05:44 brother or something.
05:45 To pose this question at the post-Fastlane media press conference, Cena did in fact confirm
05:48 that his immediate WWE future heavily depends on the ongoing strikes.
05:53 He confirmed that it's not because he hates us or that wrestling is secondary to Hollywood,
05:57 but it's all due to liability insurance.
05:59 "I've made it clear that you can't do both because of the liability insurance.
06:03 If I were to try to juggle both, that's very selfish because I would put a whole lot
06:07 of people in the movie business out of work if something were to happen to me."
06:12 Cena revealed that he actually stopped an unnamed project midway due to the strike,
06:18 so it's not necessarily up to him when he goes back to work, it's just a case of
06:21 doing so when the strike comes to a close.
06:24 He did however stress the importance of spending that downtime back home in WWE to help out.
06:30 Maybe some of that helping out will be at Crown Jewel.
06:32 Do you know who will be at Crown Jewel?
06:34 Not us, but do you know who will be watching Crown Jewel?
06:37 You can watch Crown Jewel with us too.
06:38 It's us, we're having a watch party at Crown Jewel, the long arm brewery in Shoreditch,
06:42 and you can come and join us by clicking the link in the description down below to get
06:45 your tickets right now.
06:47 One man who recently departed his home of WWE was of course Adam Copeland.
06:54 Copeland rocked the wrestling world this time last week when he shockingly crossed the line
06:58 to an enemy promotion for the first time ever in his career, debuting at AEW Wrestle Dream
07:03 for an unsavoury reunion with his old pal Christian Cage, who is one of the best things
07:08 in wrestling right now.
07:09 Dead dads.
07:10 Despite Copeland's AEW move being hot news one week ago, this is wrestling and we obviously
07:16 have very short attention spans.
07:18 What am I doing?
07:21 So surprisingly the post Fastlane presser Triple H was not asked by anyone about the
07:25 reports of CM Punk making his return to WWE.
07:28 He was asked about Io Sky vs Taylor Swift as a match.
07:32 He was asked about that.
07:33 And he did also get questioned over Adam Copeland leaving for the competition.
07:38 Trip Saree iterated both Fightful Select's reports and Copeland's words himself that
07:42 there was zero hard feelings or animosity between WWE and the Rated R Superstar and
07:47 the split was simply the right choice and the right time for both parties.
07:53 Trip said "Time.
07:54 Time was right for him.
07:56 Time was right for us.
07:57 I think he had an amazing career and an amazing send-off here and I think he felt like he
08:01 had done what there was to do.
08:03 I think we sort of felt, 'Yeah, I think you're right.
08:06 You ain't winning the world championship again, are you?'
08:10 No."
08:11 He said that he sent Adam a private message expressing his happiness for him and wished
08:14 him the best saying "It's wonderful that Copeland found a different opportunity elsewhere."
08:19 Sticking with AEW and with Cash Wheeler now out, Adam Cole out, Sami Gavarra out, Jon
08:24 Moxley only just returning from a concussion, it's safe to say that AEW are 100% in the
08:30 thick of it when it comes to injuries right now.
08:33 And it seems like things are just getting worse with two major title matches for next
08:37 week's title Tuesday Dynamite potentially being in doubt.
08:42 First of which is the AEW International Championship match between Rey Fenix and Moxley.
08:47 And the crazy thing is, it's reportedly got nothing to do with Mox as he's been cleared
08:51 to return, instead it's current champion Fenix that is the issue.
08:55 While it's no secret that Fenix has been worse for wear in recent weeks, reportedly
08:59 suffering an injury during the same match as Moxley at Grand Slam, he has continued
09:03 to press on.
09:04 Fenix has defended his title twice, once against Jeff Jarrett the week following his win and
09:08 this week against Nick Jackson.
09:11 However as was seen at Wrestle Dream where Fenix was escorted out by medical staff during
09:14 his four way tag match, he's not doing too great.
09:18 According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, Fenix is in very rough shape heading
09:22 into Dynamite, calling into question whether the match will go ahead at all.
09:27 Adding to the title Tuesday woes is perhaps the selling point of the show, that being
09:31 the debut of Adam Copeland inside an AEW ring where he takes on Luchasaurus.
09:37 While Copeland is thankfully fine and not too emotionally scarred from Christian's
09:40 rejection to compete, it seems that the same can't be said for his opponent.
09:44 Because according to Alvarez on WOR, Luchasaurus potentially broke his finger in the closing
09:49 segment of Collision this week.
09:51 Again, the extent of this, if true, is not yet known.
09:54 However, it's not exactly ideal for a match and a show with such meaning, is it?
09:58 We'll have to see how it all shakes out, but we at WrestleTalk want to continue to
10:01 offer our well wishes to all of the currently injured AEW talent and wrestling talent in
10:05 general in their respective recoveries.
10:08 Do you like lists?
10:09 How about having three of them going on at the exact same time?
10:12 Because that's exactly what our brand new series Tables, Lists and Chairs does as Luke,
10:17 Denise and Pete run down their personal top 10 WWE champions ever.
10:23 Go and check it out.
