00:00 Is everything in your hands now, Grandpa and Grandma?
00:04 Yes, it's in your hands.
00:05 Because the elderly Filipino week is being celebrated on the first week of October.
00:11 And if there's anything else to talk about, Senior Citizen,
00:13 I'm with the National Commission of Senior Citizens Chairman,
00:17 Attorney Franklin Quijano.
00:19 Good morning and welcome to my news.
00:21 Good morning, Rafi and Connie.
00:25 Yes, sir.
00:26 From the previous 500 pesos, the pension has been increased to 1,000 pesos
00:32 for our poor fellowmen, Senior Citizens.
00:36 Do you think this 1,000 pesos will be enough?
00:40 To be honest, Connie, there are different degrees of poverty.
00:45 There are those who are really poor, those who are the poorest,
00:48 those who are poor, and there are those who are average in level.
00:52 So we think, based on the PIDF, the Filipino Institute of Development Studies,
00:59 we should give around 3,000 pesos.
01:04 But then again, not all of them can be given by the government.
01:08 So I think 1,000 pesos is just right, but we have to find means by which the senior citizens should be able to also supplement
01:20 the funds that will be given by the government.
01:24 Yes. But is it clear what we are assuming?
01:28 We said that the indigent senior citizens were included.
01:32 Yes. There's a definition.
01:34 Yes. Okay.
01:36 Just to be clear, the monthly pension is 1,000 pesos,
01:40 but who will be included if we say indigent senior citizens?
01:44 Okay. The Republic Act 9994 stated that the indigent senior citizens are frail, sickly, with disability,
02:02 and the second element is with no visible means of support.
02:06 So it means frail, sickly, with disability, and the second element that is most important,
02:17 no regular support.
02:19 That's why SSS, DSIS, PBAO, POLIC, or those who receive regular monthly insurance, not private insurance, are not included.
02:33 Okay. Atty., what can you say about the assumption that the centenarian gift will be given earlier, but in tranches?
02:40 Because some are not enjoying the benefit.
02:43 That's not the spirit that Senator Aimee predicted.
02:49 The 100 years old will still receive 100,000 pesos.
02:54 Yes.
02:55 The 100 years old is not excluded. Only those who are 80 and 90 years old will receive it.
03:05 Of course, we want to encourage everyone who will reach 100, including you Rocky, you should reach 100.
03:14 So we are encouraging everyone who is 80 and 90 years old to receive it. And those who are 100,000 years old should receive insurance.
03:25 That's also our wish to reach that age. But healthy of course.
03:29 You are also encouraging online registration of senior citizens. What is it for and how about those who have no access or don't know about this system?
03:38 Online registration, Rocky, is really the most elementary means for us to be able to know, to get to know all senior citizens.
03:47 Of course, we are asking for the help of local governments and OSCA. But you know, it takes time to build up the data.
03:56 That's why we are encouraging all senior citizens to be able to reach the cell phone signal because that's the basic signal Rocky.
04:06 They can use the cell phone signals for registration.
