00:32 It was the hardest period for us
00:35 because it felt like the world was against us.
00:38 And here's the thing, we were against each other,
00:40 if I'm being completely honest.
00:42 You know, up until Madrid,
00:46 sometimes it felt like us against everybody else,
00:51 but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.
00:55 But when we were in Spain,
00:56 it didn't really feel like we had each other either.
00:59 And that's sad.

01:02 There was some horrible stories
01:07 that were difficult to deal with.
01:13 It was the first time that me and Victoria
01:19 had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.
01:24 The pair wed in 1999
01:26 and quickly became a British it couple.
01:28 David played for Real Madrid until 2007.
01:32 In the docu-series, the 48-year-old recalls
01:34 how difficult it was to be in Spain
01:36 while Victoria and their eldest sons,
01:38 Brooklyn and Romeo, were in England.
01:40 They later welcomed son Cruz and daughter Harper.
01:43 Victoria explains.
01:44 I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was
01:47 and how it affected me.
01:48 It was probably, if I'm being honest,
01:50 the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.
01:53 David adds.
01:54 Every time that we woke up, we felt,
01:56 you know, there was something else.
01:58 I think we both felt at the time
02:00 that we were not losing each other, but drowning.
02:02 But ultimately, they were able
02:03 to weather this turbulent time.
02:05 And after 24 years of marriage,
02:07 David and Victoria are still going strong.
