00:06 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
00:08 (speaking in foreign language)
00:12 - Well, thank you.
00:28 Thank you for having me over.
00:29 - It's a pleasure.
00:30 (speaking in foreign language)
00:34 - 'Cause it has reached the level of a pandemic.
00:54 And unfortunately,
00:56 (speaking in foreign language)
01:00 unnecessarily because breast cancer is fully treatable
01:09 if determined early and managed properly.
01:12 - Okay.
01:13 (speaking in foreign language)
01:17 - If you look at two extremes,
01:19 for those who have, are capable of attaining
01:22 same level of care.
01:24 (speaking in foreign language)
01:28 (speaking in foreign language)
01:32 (speaking in foreign language)
01:36 (speaking in foreign language)
01:39 (speaking in foreign language)
01:43 (speaking in foreign language)
01:47 (speaking in foreign language)
01:54 - Can you tell us more about that?
02:11 (speaking in foreign language)
02:15 - One of the things that confuses me so much
02:19 is why how come Filipinas are more afraid
02:22 of the treatment or the medications or the medicine
02:25 than the disease itself?
02:27 (speaking in foreign language)
02:31 Now, that's the initial response to that.
02:37 But the follow up response is,
02:39 (speaking in foreign language)
02:43, ultrasound or whatever.
02:48 (speaking in foreign language)
02:52 (speaking in foreign language)
02:56 (speaking in foreign language)
03:00 (speaking in foreign language)
03:05 (speaking in foreign language)
03:09 (speaking in foreign language)
03:13 (laughing)
03:15 (speaking in foreign language)
03:19 (speaking in foreign language)
03:47 - It's a novel type of technology.
03:52 It's been around for a long time.
03:54 (speaking in foreign language)
03:58 It's powered by energy, heat energy.
04:04 (speaking in foreign language)
04:08 Artificial intelligence.
04:10 So, very unique combination
04:13 (speaking in foreign language)
04:17 - Very, very affordable.
04:36 (speaking in foreign language)
04:40 - You want to be examined by a man
04:42 or you want to protect yourself.
04:44 (speaking in foreign language)
04:46 No touch, no radiation.
04:47 It's independent of age.
04:49 (speaking in foreign language)
04:53 It's affordable care.
04:54 (speaking in foreign language)
04:57 - Well, it depends.
04:59 There are many ways to get to this technology.
05:03 Anywhere from (speaking in foreign language)
05:09 (speaking in foreign language)
05:13 (speaking in foreign language)
05:19 (speaking in foreign language)
05:23 - Well, 1% (speaking in foreign language)
05:36 Whether you're a man, a woman, or in between.
05:38 (speaking in foreign language)
05:41 (speaking in foreign language)
05:45 (speaking in foreign language)
05:49 (speaking in foreign language)
05:52 - One of the most basic management of the breast pandemic
06:14 is early detection and treatment.
06:17 (speaking in foreign language)
06:18 It makes it a very affordable way to screen.
06:21 But again, (speaking in foreign language)
06:22 the cost of treatment will depend
06:24 on the stage of the disease.
06:25 And the earlier you go for your screening,
06:27 the earlier the disease is picked up and diagnosed,
06:31 the easier and the cheaper the treatment.
06:33 (speaking in foreign language)
06:36 (speaking in foreign language)
06:39 - Well, I guess before I answer that question,
06:41 (speaking in foreign language)
06:45 variation from different countries
06:50 and different institutions
06:52 is really a financial question issue.
06:56 (speaking in foreign language)
07:00 So let's not cost effective.
07:03 So (speaking in foreign language)
07:05 baseline mammogram at the age of 35,
07:08 (speaking in foreign language)
07:10 (speaking in foreign language)
07:13 risk factors, then you wait until you're 40 years old
07:15 and do your annual checkup from then on.
07:17 (speaking in foreign language)
07:21 - It's true that earlier breast cancer
07:38 is being detected now,
07:39 but it's a matter of percentage or absolute numbers.
07:42 (speaking in foreign language)
07:46 Early breast cancer is only seen in one or 2%.
07:51 1% of half a million is smaller than 1%
07:54 of a million and a half.
07:57 (speaking in foreign language)
08:01 They're more conscious because of the internet,
08:07 the awareness, breast cancer awareness.
08:10 (speaking in foreign language)
08:14 - Well, the biggest indication for them
08:29 (speaking in foreign language)
08:36 and you're over the age of 30, 35,
08:39 even by itself is a risk.
08:40 One out of every four women in the Philippines
08:42 will develop breast cancer.
08:43 Some may catch one of every eight.
08:45 (speaking in foreign language)
08:48 Just being a female and living
08:50 and being born in the Philippines
08:52 already automatically puts you at a high risk.
08:54 (speaking in foreign language)
09:05 These are many factors that you should look at.
09:07 - Doc, thank you so very much.
09:08 (speaking in foreign language)
09:12 Thank you so very much, Doc.
09:18 (speaking in foreign language)
09:22 CEO of Asian Breast Center.
09:24 (speaking in foreign language)
09:28 (speaking in foreign language)
