00:46 You probably remember Tube Sock,
00:51 the TJ that we built a few episodes back.
00:54 Well, Tube Sock's been out in the trail a bunch this year.
00:57 We had a little issue with the clutch going out,
01:00 and then I loaned my 37-inch tires out to a buddy of mine,
01:03 so it kinda ended up sitting here on jack stands.
01:07 I decided I wanted to do a brake upgrade,
01:10 so I got some brand new brake parts from EBC.
01:12 I did find out that the brakes on this are custom,
01:15 just like everything else,
01:17 so I gotta take the rotors and run 'em down
01:19 on a little errand and get 'em fine-tuned,
01:21 but we're gonna come back, slap the brakes on this thing,
01:24 and go have some fun with Tube Sock again.

01:27 So we brought our rotors down here to Synergy Manufacturing
01:30 to re-drill the bolt pattern.
01:31 Tube Sock uses a JK front rotor
01:34 that's drilled out to 515.5.
01:37 I went with 515.5 so that my wheels
01:39 match the other CJs that I have.
01:41 So we brought the EBC brakes down.
01:43 These are slotted and dimpled
01:44 for added cooling and braking.
01:46 We used a 515 to 515.5 bolt wheel adapter
01:49 and used that to help us mark and center punch
01:52 the holes that we're gonna drill.
01:54 So now the holes are marked on this,
01:56 and Mike's already setting up.
01:57 He's gonna drill out the new rotors to 515.5.
02:00 We also bored out the center hole
02:02 so it fits over the unit bearing.
02:03 It's a little bit different on the unit bearing
02:06 that's on the front of Tube Sock
02:07 because we used a J8, like the military spec unit bearing,
02:10 which is 515.5, a little bit larger center bore.
02:14 We're gonna get it machined,
02:15 go back home, put the brakes on.

02:22 Let's go home, boys.

02:33 All right, let's see here.
02:48 Look at that, money.
02:50 Slap our caliper on.
02:52 You'll notice these are Explorer brakes.
02:54 It has a drum brake inside that you use
02:57 as your parking brake.
02:58 And that'll slide over there,
03:01 and we'll put our caliper on.
03:03 And it should be ready to bolt back together.
03:07 These are your caliper bolts.
03:17 You wanna put some Loctite on there.
03:19 You probably can't say the actual brand name,
03:21 so let's just say it rhymes with clock right.
03:24 Put some of that on there.
03:29 You don't use a lot, 'cause this stuff's really expensive.
03:32 And it's made from the blood of a unicorn
03:34 found on the far side of Maldor.
03:37 That was a sci-fi joke
03:41 that most of you probably don't get.

03:49 They're pretty ugly, but they will get us on the road,
03:55 and we can run down to one of our local off-road shops,
03:59 maybe our local 4WheelParts,
04:01 and get some new tires and wheels on it.

04:33 I told you we were gonna put some new tires
04:34 and wheels on Tube Sock.
04:35 What I didn't tell you is that we actually brought it
04:37 to the 4WheelParts in Oahu, Hawaii.
04:39 Yes, 4WheelParts has stores all over America,
04:42 and when we realized there was a store in Hawaii,
04:44 we figured what better reason to come to Hawaii?
04:46 We threw this Jeep in a box, put it on a ship,
04:48 and shipped it to these islands for about $1,200.
04:51 We're gonna put some new 37-inch General Grabbers on it,
04:54 a Smittybilt cooler, and a light bar up top.
04:57 We know there's other islands around here
04:58 that have a lot of great stuff,
04:59 but we're on Oahu for about four days,
05:01 and we're gonna see what we can find to go four-wheeling.

05:09 Tube Sock has a bunch of body armor on it
05:23 from Poison Spider.
05:24 We got rock sliders, front and rear bumpers
05:25 from Poison Spider.
05:26 Now, light bars are really hot these days.
05:29 Everybody wants to put a light bar on everything,
05:31 but they're actually pretty useful
05:34 when you're going off-roading,
05:35 and Poison Spider has this mount
05:37 that bolts right onto your A pillar of your Jeep.
05:40 Attach the light bar up above your head, your windshield,
05:43 and you have light right down the trail,
05:46 right where you wanna go.
05:47 So we're mounting this up.
05:49 We just painted it.
05:49 It's gonna get bolted on,
05:50 and then we're gonna bolt this light bar on
05:52 and hit the trail.

06:26 These guys actually live out here on this island.
06:29 You know, I just get to come here on vacation.

06:38 and they're gonna take us wheeling today.
06:39 We got the new tires on Tube Sock.
06:41 We got this light bar that I'm hoping we don't have to use.
06:44 We got the cooler in the back, which is full of stuff.
06:46 So if we get stuck out here,
06:48 we'll have food throughout the night.
06:50 This is Kwakala.
06:51 That's the name of the area.
06:53 Also known as Peacock Flats.
06:54 It's a military base.
06:56 We got our permits that we needed to run the trails.
06:58 So we're gonna go see what the Jeep will do out here.

07:33 I think this is the initiator.
07:34 And when you come up this obstacle,
07:37 there's two gnarly rocks.
07:38 They're not spaced evenly, of course.
07:41 And there's a bunch of smaller rocks.
07:42 It's raining, so everything's covered in slick red mud.
07:45 Buddy has been beating on it, trying to get through here.
07:49 And it's just so sloppy.
07:51 They were telling me even when this is dry,
07:53 it's pretty gnarly.
07:55 And we're out here in this tropical wonderland,
07:57 and it's not dry.
07:58 So I'm gonna see if Tube Soc can get through here.
08:02 If not, we'll find another trail to go play on.

10:25 on top of Mount Whitney for all I know.

10:28 - But we've been wheeling, we're getting dirty.

17:14 meet these really cool guys, help them fix their Jeeps.

19:42 We're using a high lift jack
19:43 to jack up the side of the truck.
19:45 Gotta run a ratchet strap around the frame and the axle
19:49 so the axle doesn't droop out,
19:51 so the suspension stays tight
19:53 so that we can lift the tire off the ground.
19:56 I'm gonna get the tire back on the bead.
19:58 It's lost both inner and outer beads.
20:00 Wheel's full of dirt,
20:02 so on this one we loop the winch around the tire
20:04 to squeeze the tire so that we could get the air in the tire
20:09 and have it stay on the wheel.

20:17 Just trying to knock the inner bead back on.
20:19 That's what you do before it rains.
20:23 Boom!
20:31 Gotta get the wheel really wet so it reseats.
20:36 I understand why you guys wear these Hawaiian shirts,

20:45 It just blends right in.
20:47 This has been the best vacation to Hawaii
