00:02 - On this episode of Hot Rod Garage,
00:10 the crown hick sees some boost.
00:12 - Oh boy.
00:13 (tires screeching)
00:14 Oh shit.
00:14 (laughing)
00:17 (rock music)
00:21 (rock music)
00:24 - Welcome back to Hot Rod Garage,
00:39 presented by Lincoln Tech.
00:41 It's my favorite time of the day.
00:42 It's boost time.
00:44 We're gonna supercharge the crown hick.
00:46 Now if you remember,
00:47 crown hick is a '66 F-100 bolted onto
00:49 a 2007 top car frame,
00:52 and it's awesome.
00:53 - Yeah, it's a great parts chaser.
00:54 - We love this truck.
00:55 It's reliable, it handles well,
00:57 it actually stops.
00:58 I drive it a ton when I'm in town,
01:00 but it doesn't quite have the oomph we really want.
01:02 - Not there.
01:03 - It's time to juice this thing up.
01:04 This is a 4.6 liter, two valve motor.
01:06 Only really came with like 260 horsepower.
01:08 Was not a powerhouse in the factory,
01:10 but it's got a pretty stout bottom end,
01:12 and if you bolt on one of these Vortex superchargers,
01:13 that takes you to right about 400 horsepower.
01:16 - The cuspus of pain.
01:17 - Yeah.
01:18 That's right where party time happens.
01:20 Right at 400.
01:22 Vortex sent us over one of their Mustang kits,
01:23 so we'll probably have to do a bit of massaging
01:25 and fabrication to make it all work,
01:27 but in the end, I'm sure it will be worth it.
01:28 - We do that here.
01:29 - And we do that kind of stuff here all the time.
01:31 You ready?
01:32 - I'm ready.
01:33 Let's go.
01:33 - So just to get an idea of what kind of power
01:38 this thing was making,
01:39 a 4.6 stock comes with 260 horsepower at the flywheel.
01:43 Now we added stainless works, headers, and full exhaust,
01:45 and a Holley EFI that should theoretically optimize
01:49 the tuning on this thing for peak power.
01:51 It laid down at church auto testing.
01:53 We hit the dyno yesterday.
01:54 244 horsepower at the rear wheels,
01:57 and 310 foot pounds of torque.
01:59 That's an awesome, awesome result for this thing,
02:02 but in the grand scheme, it's not all that much.
02:03 So what do you think?
02:04 We get 245 up to--
02:06 - We're still tripping on the theoretically optimized
02:08 optimum horsepower, whatever you said.
02:10 That was pretty good.
02:11 - Anyway, nerd stuff aside,
02:13 this thing should make another 100 horsepower,
02:14 and that will be awesome.
02:16 So I think what we do first is yank the AC stuff,
02:23 start flipping the throttle body around,
02:25 and get that big, beautiful Vortec V3 supercharger
02:28 mounted on the front of the engine
02:29 with that proper bracket.
02:30 - Let's go.
02:31 Less talk, more work.
02:32 - Let's do it.
02:33 - I'm gonna do this whole job with one wrench.
02:42 So this has a sealed high-pressure cooling system,
02:45 a couple different points in the engine
02:47 coming into this bottle that is pressurized.
02:49 It's totally right in the way of the supercharger.
02:51 We're gonna pick it up and get rid of it for now,
02:53 and then we're gonna have to find a place
02:54 that we can, I guess, extend some lines
02:57 and find it a happy home later on.
02:59 - So we're gonna take all the stuff off from under the hood
03:01 in front of the motor, probably pull the radiator,
03:04 the AC condenser, the high-pressure bottle,
03:06 the power steering reservoir, get all that out of the way,
03:09 mount the bracket for the supercharger,
03:11 just to see how much room we need.
03:13 - So one thing I'm gonna do in anticipation
03:15 of the supercharger being over that way
03:17 is flip this throttle body elbow around to the other side.
03:20 Now, we've theorized that Ford, in their infinite wisdom,
03:22 used the same intake manifold on the Mustang
03:24 as the Crown Victoria and sort of swapped
03:27 this throttle elbow either way,
03:28 depending on what made the most sense in the car.
03:31 We'll see if it works.
03:33 So just pulling off the EGR valve,
03:40 this is an emissions piece that we don't need
03:41 for a car registered as a 66.
03:43 I will take this gasket over there,
03:46 draw up a little template, cut out a block-off plate,
03:49 block that off, everything will be
03:51 a little bit cleaner under here.
03:53 And then here's the rest of the EGR tube
03:54 that is connected to the header.
03:56 I'll probably just cut this, crimp it closed,
04:01 weld it closed, and then I can put it back on as a cap.
04:03 (rock music)
04:08 (drill whirring)
04:10 So I'm just gonna make a simple EGR block-off plate.
04:12 I've got the gasket to make my little pattern.
04:15 I chopped out a rough shape, and I traced the gasket out.
04:18 I'm gonna go grind it down, drill two holes,
04:20 bolt it all together, and then it's boosted time.
04:23 (drill whirring)
04:25 (rock music)
04:34 (drill whirring)
04:36 Just knock the bars off on the belt sander
04:49 and paint it up, we'll put it in.
04:50 (rock music)
05:01 So here's the fan shroud with fan built in.
05:04 Great component, we're gonna use it again.
05:07 Hey, that rhymes, did you hear that?
05:09 - That's pretty good, huh?
05:10 - Built in and again? - Yeah.
05:11 - That kinda rhymes. - It rhymes.
05:13 - So I unhooked everything off the throttle body,
05:14 the cable, the TPS wire, and the EGR,
05:17 and I'm gonna try to spin this thing around
05:19 to sort of line up the throttle body over here,
05:22 because on a Mustang, the throttle body position
05:25 is just about over here, and with the Vortex supercharger,
05:28 it's mounted in the front here,
05:29 so the boost tubing should be easy.
05:30 We did get a boost tube for a Mustang,
05:32 now if all this is exactly right,
05:34 it might just bolt right on, and that would be fantastic.
05:36 So as you can see, that's a plastic intake manifold
05:40 with an aluminum throttle body elbow bolted to it,
05:43 and it looks like this will fit both ways,
05:45 which is awesome news,
05:47 and with our supercharger being right here,
05:49 should make the plumbing easy,
05:51 and the Mustang tube might even just fit.
05:53 So Lucky pulled everything that was in the way
05:57 of the supercharger off the engine,
05:58 he also took the idler and the original belt off.
06:00 - Some stuff we didn't need to take off,
06:02 I still took it off.
06:02 - You just took it off?
06:03 - It's on a roll.
06:04 - I've got the throttle body flipped around,
06:05 and we're about ready to install this
06:07 V3 Vortex centrifugal supercharger.
06:10 - I likey.
06:11 - Now they've got brackets made up for each application,
06:13 again, our whole setup is for a Mustang,
06:15 but the engine itself is gonna accept
06:17 the same exact bracketry, and drive,
06:19 and everything else, we hope.
06:20 - Right.
06:21 - Right?
06:22 Then we should be in business about figuring out
06:23 boost tubes and stuff like that on our own.
06:24 - Yep, you know, one of the things,
06:25 oh, you can't just grab it out of the box,
06:27 put it together, and bolt it on the car.
06:28 You gotta do some stuff.
06:29 - You gotta give it, there's pretty intense
06:32 instructions here, we've gone through everything.
06:34 One thing is that our supercharger was clocked,
06:36 or positioned with the outlet set up
06:38 for an intercooler system,
06:40 and we're gonna run non-intercooled.
06:41 So, to do that you have to clock it.
06:43 That means there are these clamps,
06:45 the entire thing will rotate,
06:46 you loosen up these tab clamps with Allen bolts,
06:50 position it to exactly where you want it,
06:52 you can kind of push it with some force,
06:54 once this is all bolted onto the engine,
06:56 get it exactly where you want,
06:56 and lock this back down.
06:57 So we'll do that first.
06:59 - Yeah. - Right?
07:00 - Absolutely, we gotta set it up on the motor, though.
07:02 - Exactly, so we've got our big bracket,
07:05 couple of spacers, a bunch of hardware,
07:06 we'll get this mocked up on the engine,
07:08 then we can clock the outlet of the compressor
07:10 exactly where we need it, lock it down,
07:12 and start building from there.
07:14 - We get to work on it some more now?
07:15 - We do, we get to work on it.
07:16 - Let's go.
07:17 (upbeat music)
07:19 (upbeat music)
07:22 - So put the pipe in.
07:30 - Okay.
07:31 See, that's our pipe, this is fitted for non-intercooled.
07:35 So then we'll clock it down here.
07:38 - Straight? - Yeah.
07:39 - No.
07:40 - Put it where you want it.
07:42 - Hold on.
07:43 It's gonna sit in a little more, but that's pretty good.
07:47 - Okay.
07:49 (upbeat music)
07:52 - Yeah, I think we'll be in business today.
07:54 So we've got this now adjusted to where we like,
07:58 where the compressor outlet is for that Mustang pipe
08:01 that they sent over the boost tube.
08:03 We will now lock down these tab clamps,
08:06 and this thing should be ready for final install.
08:09 And we've gotta remove a couple of things,
08:11 like the alternator bolt,
08:12 couple of studs off the front of the engine cover,
08:14 things like that, then we can bolt this down for good.
08:17 So I'm using blue medium Loctite, don't ever use red,
08:21 you'll be married to it.
08:23 So we put in the supercharger bracket for a test fit,
08:26 we saw a couple of points where it's interfering
08:28 with some stock metal on the front of the engine cover.
08:31 So we're gonna start removing that now with some files,
08:34 and they tell you in the instructions
08:35 that they give you a slightly different idler pulley,
08:38 and there may be, there are the two pads
08:40 on either side of the post
08:41 that are gonna need to be filed down.
08:43 Possibly, it looks like ours have to be filed down,
08:47 'cause I'm hearing them rub.
08:48 (drill whirring)
08:51 Looks like this idler pulley
09:05 is extremely close to the alternator.
09:07 We just wanna make sure everything seems to be happy
09:08 with spaces and alignment.
09:10 I think, look, if you run that ground back
09:12 where it's supposed to be here,
09:13 that's gonna get you closer to dead on.
09:16 - Well, what just happened right there
09:18 that now it's pulled so far apart?
09:21 - No, I'm gonna move it here.
09:22 - Oh, you put the ground back in there?
09:23 - I did, yeah, 'cause I'm not getting closed up here, right?
09:27 Should be something like that.
09:29 Pull it off and I've gotta get the idler on.
09:31 It's time to finally put this thing in for good.
09:34 The Vortech supercharger on its bracket,
09:36 we've got all the pulleys and mounts ready to go.
09:39 Lucky's lowering it in.
09:40 I'm gonna put it on, and a couple of them need washers,
09:43 spacers, between where they go into the actual engine,
09:47 so this one's gonna get one.
09:48 - Now, those washers or worshers?
09:50 - They're washers.
09:52 - We're all ready to bolt this thing in for good
09:53 and realize that one of these bolt holes is too small
09:56 in the bracket supplied by Vortex.
09:58 Now, this is supposed to fit up to an '04 Mustang,
10:01 and this is an '07 Crown Victoria,
10:03 so there's probably a little bit of a variation
10:04 in the bolt size in the front cover.
10:07 So I'm just gonna hog this thing out,
10:08 and we should be good.
10:09 - '04 Mustang?
10:10 - '04 Mustang.
10:11 - Crown Victoria. - Crown Victoria.
10:12 (drill whirring)
10:15 - Close your eyes and go for it.
10:21 - We're so close to the right size right there.
10:23 (drill whirring)
10:26 Did it, Tony.
10:29 - Good, oh man.
10:31 - Yeah, do that.
10:32 - I'm starting to think of 80's balance.
10:34 (laughing)
10:35 - That's some ABBA.
10:36 We have put this thing on and off so many times,
10:38 we have to re-Loctite everything.
10:40 (upbeat music)
10:42 Now, is that part of the instructions?
10:46 I'm gonna take it off for the fifth time
10:47 and put the belt on it.
10:48 (upbeat music)
10:51 So this is the factory condenser,
10:55 and the bottom of the condenser is the transmission cooler.
10:59 We're gonna lose this and this
11:02 and get a more efficient transcooler,
11:03 put that in front of the radiator.
11:05 So that AC condenser that I took out earlier
11:07 with the transcooler on the bottom, you remember that?
11:09 Well, there was a little bracket
11:11 on the side of the radiator tank that was supporting that.
11:13 And now it's in my way.
11:15 So I'm going to extract it.
11:17 Okay, so this is my first attempt to putting the belt on.
11:23 I'm gonna get frustrated in about 10 minutes
11:25 and Tony will give it a shot.
11:26 And then we're gonna have camera B try it
11:28 and the director's gonna give it a shot.
11:30 - Now, I'm just gonna go around that way.
11:34 Tony.
11:38 - What's up, buddy?
11:39 - This belt looked like it would go right on,
11:41 right up until you put that last pulley in.
11:43 - Oh no.
11:45 Take it out.
11:46 We probably don't need it.
11:48 So we thought we had the supercharger in for the last time,
11:51 but we realized we forgot to put the belt on,
11:53 try to install it with the supercharger in place.
11:55 That will not happen.
11:57 So we pulled it back off,
11:58 got it loaded on all the pulleys except for
12:01 power steering, it looks like, and the alternator.
12:03 - Power steering and water pump.
12:05 - And water pump.
12:06 And we should be able to feed everything into place,
12:08 move that tensioner, release the tension,
12:10 and then pull it over the water pump and be done.
12:13 Done.
12:16 Trying to get the belt on.
12:17 They give you a belt that will just barely fit
12:19 'cause they anticipate that it's gonna slip a little,
12:22 which is fine, but because it just barely fits,
12:26 you have to fight this tensioner.
12:28 Or we just don't know what we're doing.
12:31 I'm making all this up.
12:32 Hey, stick that bar in there right there.
12:34 - So to get this belt on, it's kind of involved,
12:36 the supercharger bracket blocks the access
12:38 for the tensioner.
12:40 They tell you to use locking pliers.
12:41 We used some channel locks, a little bit of muscle,
12:45 some pry bars, and eventually we're able
12:50 to squeeze this thing into the actual place
12:52 once we'd already moved it a whole bunch on the tensioner.
12:54 Then we had access to it.
12:55 That was Lucky's idea, and it finally worked.
12:57 I know that Chris from ADTR has a cool little tool made up
13:01 that we have on its way,
13:02 but it's not gonna get here in time,
13:03 so we did it the hard way.
13:05 - I'll take it home.
13:06 - Next time, no problem.
13:08 - So we got the supercharger belt installed.
13:09 That was quite a fiasco.
13:10 Supercharger's all bolted on.
13:12 I feel sorry for the person who's gotta do
13:13 the preventative maintenance on this.
13:15 Oh wait, that's me, not good.
13:17 As you recall, they took out the AC condenser,
13:19 which has a transcooler built into the bottom of it.
13:21 This is our replacement transcooler.
13:23 We're gonna bolt this in,
13:23 and we are this much closer to making noise.
13:26 (upbeat music)
13:29 (bell dings)
13:32 This is just a test fit.
13:41 It's coming out again.
13:42 (air horn blows)
13:44 - So to make more power in any engine,
13:46 you have to cram more air through it,
13:48 whether it's NA and you get it to flow better,
13:50 or you're pushing that air through it
13:51 in the form of boost with a turbo or a supercharger,
13:54 you need more air to make more power,
13:55 and when you have more air, you need more fuel.
13:58 So we're gonna put in these 48 pound Holley EFI injectors
14:01 to keep up with that increased airflow.
14:03 These are a little bit on the big side.
14:05 These will support about 600 horsepower.
14:07 We won't be anywhere near that with this thing,
14:08 'cause we turn the boost up that high.
14:10 It will go boom, boom.
14:11 But in case we want more upgrades in the future,
14:14 these will be great.
14:15 (upbeat music)
14:27 - All eight injectors are now nestled into their new home,
14:30 and it's time to wire them up,
14:31 and instead of having to cut and solder
14:32 like Lucky did last time, we reached out to Holley,
14:34 and what's cool is they make these sweet sub-harnesses
14:37 for any injector style that clip right
14:39 into their main harness.
14:40 So that'll save us a bunch of time.
14:41 - So I ruined a perfectly good harness last time.
14:43 - I know, but the joke was hilarious.
14:44 (upbeat music)
14:47 Oh, all done.
14:53 What's next?
14:56 Okay, so supercharger's installed, belt's installed,
14:58 the radiator's installed.
14:59 As you recall, we took out the condenser.
15:01 We've installed a new transmission cooler.
15:03 I had to relocate the cooling reservoir
15:04 over here on the wheel well.
15:06 We moved the battery from here.
15:07 That's gonna go someplace else.
15:08 We're just gonna keep moving stuff around
15:09 'til the car runs.
15:11 Right now, all I gotta do is shorten up this hose,
15:13 put a couple clamps on it, put it together,
15:15 and we'll get the belt.
15:15 (upbeat music)
15:19 (drill whirring)
15:22 This is hood.
15:29 So what I'm gonna do now is hook up
15:30 the new transmission cooler we just installed
15:32 in the front of the radiator.
15:33 The old lines, as you can tell,
15:36 were leaking like a sieve anyway,
15:37 so it's not a bad thing.
15:39 (upbeat music)
15:42 So last couple things we need to do
15:48 to finish up this supercharger install
15:49 is put on this boost tube and make up
15:51 some kind of intake for the supercharger.
15:53 Now what's nice is even though this was made
15:54 for a Mustang, now that we have swapped
15:56 that throttle body from left to right,
15:58 I think this is gonna bolt right on
15:59 and we won't have to fabricate anything.
16:01 (upbeat music)
16:04 (drill whirring)
16:10 (upbeat music)
16:13 So we're all done under the hood here.
16:23 We had to move everything around.
16:25 We had to install cold air intake,
16:26 relocate the radiator, relocate the overflow reservoir,
16:30 install some injectors.
16:31 I rerouted all the wiring through the firewall.
16:34 The last thing I got to do is take the battery
16:36 and hide it in the back.
16:37 We did install this Vortex supercharger.
16:40 It's a centrifugal supercharger.
16:41 We've done a ton of superchargers and blowers on the show.
16:44 Here's Tony to tell you how this one works
16:46 with your Lincoln Tech Tip.
16:48 (upbeat music)
16:51 - Welcome back to another Lincoln Tech Tip.
16:58 Today we're gonna discuss centrifugal superchargers
17:00 and tell you why you should put one on your car.
17:03 Now in the past, we've discussed roots blowers
17:05 and turbochargers, but this is the first time
17:07 we're gonna put one of these centrifugal units
17:09 onto an HRG project car.
17:11 Centrifugal superchargers are belt-driven superchargers
17:13 that deliver forced air or boost into an engine.
17:16 That belt drives a pulley that is connected
17:17 to a set of gears that drive an impeller
17:20 in a compressor house.
17:21 Now that impeller draws in fresh air,
17:24 pressurizes it and forces it out of the outlet,
17:27 which is then piped into your engine, creating boost.
17:29 The advantages of a centrifugal supercharger
17:31 are small overall footprint in the engine bay,
17:33 simplicity of the system compared to a turbocharger,
17:36 and great response because of that direct drive system.
17:38 The cons of a centrifugal supercharger
17:40 are lower overall boost levels compared to turbochargers
17:43 and the need for a bit more maintenance
17:45 with changing belts and changing the oil
17:47 in the compressor house.
17:48 Okay, now that you know, let's get back to the shop.
17:50 - Lincoln Tech can teach you how to have a career
17:52 working with cars.
17:53 See lincolntech.edu.
17:55 (upbeat music)
17:58 - So before we get the crown hick fired up
18:01 with that new Vortech supercharger,
18:02 we're gonna install one more essential fun part
18:05 that's gonna totally transform the way this thing drives.
18:07 - Really?
18:08 - It's the limited slip differential.
18:10 This is a Ford Racing track lock unit.
18:12 It's part number M4204F318C.
18:16 It retails about 260 bucks
18:18 and it's gonna make both the back tires do the Bernie dance.
18:22 - Do the Bernie dance?
18:23 So it's gonna equalize smoke distribution
18:25 for the rear of the vehicle?
18:25 - Exactly, yeah.
18:26 All right, let's put this thing in.
18:27 (upbeat music)
18:30 So before we can install the new differential,
18:32 I've gotta press on the new bearings.
18:33 We've got, ordered these online,
18:35 they're about 13 bucks a piece.
18:36 Lucky is disassembling the old unit
18:38 and removing the open differential.
18:40 I'm gonna use a press that we have here.
18:42 If you don't have a press at home,
18:43 you can get one at one of those off-brand tool stores
18:45 relatively cheaply,
18:46 and then you can do anything you want in the future with it,
18:49 or you can go to your local machine shop
18:50 and they'll press them on for about 30 bucks.
18:53 - Just gonna grease her up.
18:54 (upbeat music)
18:57 (metal clanking)
19:00 - All right, so I'm gonna drop out the Spyder gear shaft
19:09 from here.
19:10 Well, maybe not.
19:11 There we go.
19:12 And we don't need it, we got a new one.
19:15 Right here.
19:17 And then I can push it in.
19:19 Do you see a circlip right here?
19:22 - Yeah.
19:23 - Did it.
19:24 (upbeat music)
19:27 So we're not planning on replacing these axle seals.
19:29 So a nice tip is to pull the axle all the way out
19:32 so they're not sitting there deforming the seal
19:33 while you do all your work,
19:35 potentially wrecking that and causing a leak later on.
19:37 So it's nice to just pull them out, put them on the ground.
19:39 - Yeah, don't drop the shims.
19:41 (upbeat music)
19:43 (metal clanking)
19:50 - Okay, so I've yanked the ring gear
19:51 off our old open differential unit.
19:53 I'm gonna put it on our track lock unit,
19:55 but let me explain how this thing works.
19:56 This is what's called a clutch type differential.
19:58 That means on either side of these Spyder gears,
20:00 there are friction plates and clutch plates,
20:02 and they are where I keep both wheels spinning.
20:05 This wave spring in the center applies preload
20:07 to both of these clutch packs.
20:09 And when one wheel starts to outspin the other,
20:11 it will grab and kind of catch up to speed
20:13 so that both can spin at the same speed.
20:15 - So these are just gonna be to hold the ring gear close.
20:19 - Exactly.
20:20 - And then we'll pull them all out and lock turn them.
20:22 (metal clanking)
20:25 (drill whirring)
20:28 - So while Lucky finishes nestling that thing into place,
20:31 he's gotta put the caps on, the rear cover.
20:32 We'll fill it up with fluid,
20:33 and then we're done back here
20:34 once the axles and the wheels and everything go back on.
20:37 (upbeat music)
20:39 After bolting the track lock in,
20:42 we put the brakes and the tires back on this thing,
20:45 put it on the ground.
20:46 Lucky relocated the battery from under the hood,
20:48 where it was in the way of the supercharger stuff,
20:51 to behind the seat in this truck.
20:52 And we've got one last component to put on
20:54 to make this thing boost happy.
20:55 That is a two bar map sensor from Holley.
20:57 This can read positive boost.
20:58 The standard one they send you will not.
21:00 Put this in, and then we've got the map from a 2000 Cobra,
21:03 which is a supercharged motor, very similar to this.
21:06 It's supposed to be really close.
21:07 Once that's in, it should run clean.
21:09 We'll take it out.
21:10 We might even romp on it a little bit.
21:11 It's not maybe super safe, but we like to live dangerously.
21:15 - I still need a seatbelt.
21:16 - Lucky needs a seatbelt.
21:17 So this system uses a manifold absolute pressure.
21:20 That's what we're saying, map sensor,
21:21 to help figure out how much air is going into the engine.
21:24 You usually either have a map sensor or a math sensor.
21:28 That is mass air flow.
21:29 - Correct. - Two different systems.
21:31 This is a little bit easier.
21:32 It's a little bit more boost friendly,
21:33 and it's much cleaner instead of having to run everything
21:35 through one of those giant math sensors.
21:37 So this will take the information from the map sensor,
21:41 run it through an algorithm,
21:42 figure out how much air is going into your engine,
21:44 and deliver, then calculate and deliver
21:46 the appropriate amount of fuel.
21:48 (engine revving)
21:49 - You're not the boss of me, right?
21:50 - I know, obviously, obviously, but.
21:53 - I'm already doing this 'cause I choose to.
21:54 - Fire it up, fire it up.
21:55 (engine revving)
21:58 Okay, so I punched the setup into the computer
22:04 for the new map sensor and the bigger injectors,
22:06 and this thing should be ready to start up.
22:08 - I helped do that, by the way.
22:09 - You sure did. - All right, go.
22:10 (engine revving)
22:13 - Come on.
22:16 (engine revving)
22:20 - That's pretty good.
22:21 - That sounds good.
22:22 - All right, let's put the hood on,
22:23 we'll take it to get tuned.
22:25 - Where are we soon?
22:26 - We'll meet you, Church's Dyno.
22:27 - Church's Dyno, go.
22:29 (engine revving)
22:31 - After installing that Vortex supercharger,
22:33 we took the Crown Hick back to Church's Dyno,
22:36 and the numbers went from 244 horsepower
22:38 and 310 pound feet of torque,
22:40 to 379 horsepower and 415 pound feet of torque at the tire.
22:45 That is a huge improvement,
22:47 and this was a complete success.
22:49 So that's it for this episode of Hot Rod Garage,
22:51 presented by Lincoln Tech.
22:52 The Crown Hick is now supercharged,
22:54 and burns both back tires like a proper car show.
22:56 - Equalized smoke distribution out of both sides.
22:58 - Exactly, plenty of smoke left and right.
23:01 - Super.
23:02 - Can't wait to drive this thing around in the future,
23:03 it's awesome.
23:04 Don't forget to check us out on social media
23:06 between episodes, the show is Hot Rod Garage Show
23:08 on Facebook and Instagram.
23:10 I'm Tangelo96.
23:11 - I'm Mobile Tech Lucky, still.
23:14 - We'll see you guys next time.
23:15 - See ya.
23:19 - Oh, you guys thought that was it?
23:20 It's not it, this is Hot Rod Garage.
23:22 It's time to simulate real world driving conditions.
23:25 (engine revving)
23:28 Here we go guys.
23:38 Boom shaka baka.
23:39 Getting the stuff done.
23:40 Forever and ever.
23:42 Widdly bing bing bing bing.
23:45 Yes, we have no bananas.
23:47 Hey, what size tires are on the front of my Chevelle?
23:49 Do you know?
23:50 No.
23:52 (laughing)
23:53 We're either gonna be best friends
23:54 or somebody's gonna be dead by the end of it.
23:56 (whooshing)
