00:00 Gaffer, thank you for joining us.
00:01 It's a frustrating evening here at Doncaster.
00:03 Can I just get your reflection on the game first?
00:05 Disappointing, yes, exactly that.
00:07 We started the game reasonably well.
00:11 We felt that we dominated and controlled that first 20,
00:15 25 minutes.
00:17 Give away a poor goal.
00:18 We looked open in that moment.
00:21 It was kind of like an action down our right-hand side.
00:26 They get in, but we're open.
00:29 We're open.
00:31 Our centre-halves are split and kind of spread, and we don't get back
00:35 and get compact on the turnover of possession quick enough.
00:40 It's a sloppy goal to give away, but we're still in the game, obviously.
00:44 And then we just said at half-time,
00:46 'Look, we felt that
00:50 our possession was good, but we didn't create enough.
00:54 We have players on the pitch tonight who have got goals in them,
00:57 who have got creation in them, and we didn't see it tonight enough for me.'
01:01 Do you think that, obviously, the first goal was a bit of a killer to us,
01:04 because we were starting to slowly pick our way into some chances
01:08 and playing some decent stuff, but then that goal came at the wrong time,
01:10 it came on the counter and took the wind out of us a little bit, didn't it?
01:13 Yes, exactly that.
01:14 I think that's a fine example of goals change games.
01:18 That was the exact example of that.
01:21 We were relatively comfortable, like I say.
01:25 I felt that there were some moments where we did concede too much space for the opposition.
01:30 Corrie made a save before they scored,
01:34 where again, we seemed a bit open.
01:38 And I think because of how we pressed high up the pitch,
01:42 we were aggressive within our press and then we became open
01:47 when the ball went forward.
01:49 We didn't recover into our slots quick enough.
01:53 But yes, it came at a bad time, the goal, as any goal does.
01:57 We've seen a lot recently, how the lads have reacted to going 1-0 down
02:00 and how the second half reaction has been so important to us.
02:04 But I suppose that penalty was just a bit of a game-changer, wasn't it?
02:06 Again, as you say, goals change games and that did come at the wrong time, I think.
02:09 Yes, I don't know.
02:11 I don't know.
02:13 The referee's perfectly positioned,
02:16 Will gets pushed to the floor
02:20 and as he's falling to the floor, he then brings a player with him.
02:23 So then it's a penalty.
02:25 But what about the push?
02:26 It's just crazy that that's a penalty for me.
02:31 He gets pushed to the floor.
02:34 He's a foul the other way.
02:36 It's really clear when you watch it back.
02:38 So he's got that one wrong.
02:39 But yes, it's a killer.
02:41 It's a killer because now we've got a real uphill challenge to have
02:46 against a side who keep the ball really well and have attacking threats.
02:50 They're a good side.
02:51 Like I said before, they're in a false position.
02:54 It was a tough game tonight.
02:55 Some notable changes, obviously, to the team.
02:57 Three changes you made.
02:59 Is that anything for us to be concerned about?
03:00 Any injuries or is that just a case of we're looking to manage
03:03 and what is going to be, as we've spoke about a lot recently, a very busy month?
03:07 Well, no, there's no injury concerns.
03:09 It's more so kind of like leaving players at home who wouldn't have benefited by playing tonight
03:14 and certainly wouldn't have benefited by travelling and sitting on a bench either.
03:17 We had to be fresh tonight in order for us to be fresh Saturday.
03:24 So, yes, the players that missed out tonight,
03:26 there's no way they could have played,
03:31 but we would have risked losing them for a long period, which we don't want.
03:35 The three players that were missing tonight are vital that we have them fit and ready
03:42 for 85-90 per cent of the games, as opposed to if you overcook them and you play them and play them,
03:49 they're going to be missing for large parts of the season, which we don't want, obviously.
03:52 So, a decision I had to make and I stand by that.
03:56 Yes, and I suppose we'll just be looking to get back on the horse now in front of a sold-out crowd at home on Saturday in a big game against Wrexham?
04:01 Yes, first of all, we'll debrief this game.
04:04 It's still important that we work on this game.
04:06 I know it's gone, but we work on this game first.
04:09 We won't even talk about Wrexham until we go back in training Thursday,
04:15 by which time I would have watched them at length and got a game plan in place and got all the details done on that.
04:22 But, yes, we concentrate on one game at a time.
04:24 That's important that we continue to do that.
04:27 But, yes, we've got to journey back now and we'll get a good recovery session into the players
04:36 and we'll be ready to go again Saturday.
04:38 Finally, just a word for the Travelling Crawley fans.
04:40 Obviously, magnificent numbers all this way on a Tuesday night.
04:42 We know how much of a struggle it's been with train strikes again today.
04:45 So, yes, just a word for them.
04:46 Yes, brilliant, outstanding effort from everybody who turned up and they applauded us at the end.
04:52 I think they could clearly see that the players tried to the very end there.
04:56 We were really trying to get a goal and attack and give them something to go down the road with.
05:02 So, sorry they didn't see a goal and sorry they didn't see us win.
05:05 But, thanks for their efforts.
05:07 it's fantastic effort for them to get all the way up here.
