00:07 This is followed by the complaint of some of our countrymen who were victims of illegal recruitment.

00:14 More than 50 Filipinos in Milan, Italy asked for help from the Philippine Consulate General Office.

00:23 They were victims of illegal recruitment scam.

00:27 One of them was fined 400 euros from a Filipino-operated money agency in Italy

00:34 in exchange for a work visa to be given to a Filipino child.

00:53 The Philippine consulate in Milan has been releasing a complaint regarding this illegal recruitment scam.

00:59 We issued advisories to our countrymen

01:04 that they should not make transactions for job offers here in Italy.

01:09 Based on our conversations with the authorities here,

01:13 they said that there is no job available and that the quota is exhausted.

01:18 The Philippine authorities also filed a complaint with the Department of Justice

01:23 that they applied for a working visa to the money agency they were complaining about.

01:27 They were lied to because of the talks in the Philippine community in Italy

01:32 that the application for the replacement of the countrymen would be processed quickly.

01:36 They found out that it was 180,000 pesos.

01:40 Some of them were already here for three days.

01:42 I trusted them and we submitted the application.

01:46 They were told to submit their work visa via email or social media.

01:50 But when they submitted it to the embassy of Italy here in the Philippines,

01:54 their application was denied.

02:02 The Department of Justice obtained up to 400,000 pesos

02:07 to investigate the NBI.

02:09 Some of them even built houses and lands.

02:11 They sold cars and loans to the poor.

02:18 If this is a swindling, a large-scale theft, a qualified theft or whatever cases they are,

02:26 we will help them draw out the truth.

02:30 The Senate also passed a resolution to investigate this.

02:34 The DFA said that the lawyers will give the victims in Italy,

02:39 in the statement of Alpha Asistenza SRL,

02:41 the manning agency they claim to be,

02:44 it can be denied that they are doing something irregular.

02:48 They obtained a third-party liaison to help in submitting documents of applicants in the Philippines.

02:55 But they found out that more than their authorized applicants,

02:58 it was processed and money was collected.

03:02 The agency added that they were also fooled.

03:05 So they complained to the Makati Prosecutor's Office,

03:08 their former liaison officer.

03:11 If this is not denied, they have nothing to do with applying for a work permit in Italy,

03:16 except for helping in filing it.
