Renovations to the Taree Greyhound track
Transcript
00:00 So what we're doing, of course,
00:01 the grass surface changes to lime,
00:04 which is, it's not quite as pretty, but it looks good.
00:09 The back of the track remains about where it is,
00:12 and the front of the track will come this way
00:14 with the purpose of expanding the radiuses
00:17 of the corners of each end.
00:20 And so that, of course, means that you've gotta
00:22 slightly change the position of the starting boxes,
00:24 so you maintain all Des's favorite starting distances.
00:27 - That's right.
00:28 - And so our track is then much closer.
00:31 - Closer to the action.
00:32 - Yeah, closer to the action,
00:33 which I, personally, I find much more satisfying to do,
00:37 so I'm on top of it.
00:39 We've got a whole lot of water conservation works.
00:42 The water here is slightly difficult.
00:46 We've got a dam over the back fence there
00:49 that they pump water out of every day,
00:52 and we'll be storing more water and collecting more water.
00:55 See all of these drains, they're just
00:57 going down into the general swamp.
01:00 So we'll be trying to conserve as much water as we can.
01:05 Electricity efficiency generation on the roofs,
01:08 full revamp of all of these facilities,
01:11 and I think it's gonna be better and safer.
01:15 Everything about it is designed to be safer.
01:18 - Yep, good.
01:19 - It's wonderful.
01:20 - So we are looking forward to it,
01:21 and the club will get nice new seven-four boards
01:24 and all sorts of good things.
01:26 It's a refit a long time in the pipeline, wasn't it?
01:31 - It's been a while in the pipeline, you know,
01:33 and I can tell you now, the trainers can't wait.
01:37 To have a track befitting of that is wonderful.
01:40 We're really, really looking forward to it.
01:43 - It's perfect.
01:44 - And tell me about the line rather than the grass surface.
01:46 Was there a lot less water?
01:48 - No, no, more water probably.
01:50 - It's more.
01:50 - More water.
01:51 - It's a very good question.
01:52 - It's probably more water.
01:54 - I've said it previously, it uses more.
01:56 - But as Rob mentioned,
01:56 we've got quite a large dam system over there.
02:00 We also have bore water.
02:02 We have a bore over there with a spear
02:04 and everything in for the bore water.
02:05 Plus we have town water to back up if we really need.
02:08 But the only time we really use town water
02:11 is to water the dogs down.
02:13 So we avoid that at all costs.
02:15 But basically, you know, and as he said,
02:19 we've got plenty of solar on the roof.
02:22 It's pretty self-sufficient really.
02:25 You know, so.
