So I vlogged my trip to Portland featuring, of course, the food!! I LOVE the food in Portland so much — donuts, pizza, biscuits, brunch, ice cream, and more! Portland food is seriously some of the best food and we did not hold back! While I don’t love to label things as “cheat” days, we did certainly not stick to any diets on this weekend! On vacation, we like to relax and indulge in the local food to really get the most out of our trips, so enjoy this cheat weekend in portland where we eat whatever we want! It’s no 10,000 calorie challenge, but we did feel pretty full by the end of this :)
This trip, we started by going to Pine Street Market and had a Korean bowl from Kim Jong Smokehouse! Then we went to Pok Pok for dinner and had the famous fish sauce wings, and finished up with dessert at Salt and Straw. The next morning we went to the Waffle Window, then hiked Dry Creek Falls! We stopped by Tea Bar for a boba tea, then Cartopia for some pizza at the food carts! We had a bunch of donuts from Blue Star Donuts, drinks at a cocktail bar, and tapas at the toro bravo. On the last day, we ate at Cafe Broder and ate 12 mini doughnuts from our favorite place — Pips!! I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we did eating our way through Oregon!

00:02 Oh God, I don't think that was focused the entire time.
00:15 Okay, we're gonna film again.
00:17 So we are in Portland, Oregon.
00:19 We come here at least once a year, sometimes twice.
00:22 And really we just come here for the food.
00:24 People often ask me,
00:25 Catherine, how do you stay on track while you're on vacation?
00:28 No, I don't, I don't.
00:29 We eat a lot on vacation.
00:31 Basically we came here almost solely for the food.
00:34 I mean, we're going on a hike this time, but--
00:35 - Use the I-2 lanes to keep right
00:37 to merge onto I-205 South toward Portland.
00:40 - This vlog is mostly going to be me eating a lot of food,
00:43 us looking at food, going to get food,
00:47 and then a little hike there.
00:49 But now there's traffic, great.
00:51 We are on our way to Pine Street Market,
00:54 which is kind of like a little food court style thing,
00:56 but it's like good food.
00:57 There's a lot of cool Asian food going on there.
01:00 So yeah, we're just gonna go there,
01:01 check it out, see what's good.
01:03 And then we'll probably get
01:04 some kind of little treat afterwards.
01:07 We also are going to pick up a computer for him.
01:10 He's getting a new laptop, and there's no sales tax here.
01:13 (upbeat music)
01:15 (upbeat music)
01:18 (upbeat music)
01:21 (upbeat music)
01:23 (upbeat music)
01:26 (upbeat music)
01:28 (upbeat music)
01:57 So we made it to the Airbnb.
01:59 The Korean food was literally so good.
02:01 The salmon, so crispy.
02:04 And then there was some fried rice underneath,
02:06 all this kimchi.
02:07 It was good stuff.
02:08 So I thought I would do a quick little Airbnb tour.
02:11 First, we have Ian here figuring out the things.
02:15 Some little decor, a little living area, stuff.
02:19 Ian got his new laptop.
02:21 This is me, quick little outfit.
02:24 Just got my little Adidas shirt,
02:26 and these are my Lele Fashion Boutique leggings.
02:29 And yeah, they're very comfy.
02:31 Love wearing them on the plane.
02:32 Got this little sink area.
02:34 Very aesthetic, very cute.
02:36 Little bathroom.
02:37 Luckily they have shampoo for me
02:38 because I need to wash my hair.
02:40 Then this is the bedroom.
02:42 Got the cute little artwork and stuff in here.
02:44 I really like the aesthetic of these little marble things.
02:47 I'm so easily pleased.
02:48 But yeah, this is just the Airbnb.
02:51 So now we're just gonna unpack some stuff for a little bit.
02:54 Gonna go to the Rose Garden, maybe eat some pigs.
02:56 And then we're gonna go to Blue Star Donuts.
02:59 Portland, I love the donuts here.
03:01 They're very famous for Voodoo Donut,
03:02 but let me tell you, if you go to Portland,
03:04 don't waste your time with Voodoo Donut.
03:05 It's not good.
03:07 They're kind of stale, kind of weird flavors.
03:09 Blue Star, Pips, they're just much better.
03:12 So that is our plan.
03:13 (upbeat music)
03:16 (upbeat music)
03:18 (upbeat music)
03:21 (upbeat music)
03:24 (upbeat music)
03:26 (upbeat music)
03:29 (upbeat music)
03:31 (upbeat music)
03:34 (upbeat music)
03:36 So as you saw, we just went to the Rose Garden
03:41 and we were going to go to Blue Star Donuts before dinner.
03:44 But that Bibimbap bowl thing, it's like four hours later
03:48 and I'm still significantly full,
03:50 not even like, oh, you know, kinda like,
03:53 you know, I could eat soon.
03:54 I'm pretty full and I wanna be able to eat at dinner.
03:56 So we might skip the donuts today.
03:58 But they're gonna happen, it has to be done.
04:01 (upbeat music)
04:04 (upbeat music)
04:06 (upbeat music)
04:09 (upbeat music)
04:38 So we're back from dinner.
04:39 I realized I never said where we were going to dinner.
04:42 We're going to Pok Pok,
04:43 which is actually like right near our Airbnb.
04:45 It's this, I believe it's Vietnamese.
04:47 They have some Thai food too.
04:49 So it's like kind of that kind of Asian food.
04:52 So we love the fish sauce wings.
04:54 Those are like kind of their iconic dish.
04:56 And then we also got this like noodle pork belly shrimp dish
05:00 which was like surprisingly good.
05:01 Usually I just ask the waiter for recommendations
05:03 because they have such like weird things.
05:05 Like I don't even really wanna try to read the menu.
05:07 And then we got these pork loin sautés
05:09 which was like kind of like the peanut sauce.
05:11 And then we went to Salt and Straw afterwards.
05:15 And we had the carrot cake ice cream.
05:17 It had like a little cream cheese swirl in it.
05:20 So good.
05:21 I would just like to share
05:22 how the food baby is looking after.
05:25 Oh, wow.
05:27 Yep, that's some bloat.
05:28 (upbeat music)
05:32 (upbeat music)
05:34 (upbeat music)
06:03 So we just ate breakfast at the Waffle Bar
06:06 which was really good.
06:07 It was just like a little window you ordered at
06:09 but it was kind of good because it was fast.
06:11 And we're going on a hike now.
06:12 We're going on the Dry Creek Falls hike.
06:16 We're not experienced Oregon hikers
06:18 but this one said it was like pretty easy.
06:20 It was only 4.4 miles.
06:22 We still wanna have time to eat later.
06:24 So yeah, we just drove up here.
06:26 Beautiful views on the way up here.
06:27 Honestly, this is so pretty.
06:28 And we are here and we're gonna go to the bathroom
06:31 and hike.
06:34 (upbeat music)
06:36 (indistinct)
06:39 (upbeat music)
06:44 Everyone's in like super hiking gear
06:57 with like backpacks on.
06:58 And we're here with like one water bottle
07:00 and like easily get all Lululemon.
07:02 I'm wearing like buff bunny.
07:04 We're starting to question if this hike is really,
07:06 it's only supposed to be 4.4 miles total.
07:08 (upbeat music)
07:11 Okay, sorry for the noise,
07:28 but we made it to the waterfall.
07:30 We had to wait a little while
07:31 'cause these people were sitting right in front
07:33 of the best spot for photos.
07:35 But we got some photos and they're really good.
07:37 It was about like an hour up here,
07:39 not like an hour down. - Hour or so.
07:41 - So not too bad.
07:42 - That's about like two and a half miles maybe.
07:43 - Okay, so we're gonna hike back now
07:45 and then probably gonna get some donuts
07:47 'cause at least I want donuts.
07:49 Do you want donuts?
07:50 Time for donuts.
07:51 (upbeat music)
07:54, okay, so we finished our hike.
08:21 We got T-bar and I asked for a matcha rose latte,
08:25 but I don't think they added any of the rose.
08:27 So it was just matcha.
08:29 So we have to go again tomorrow.
08:30 Oh my God, go away.
08:32 We have to go again tomorrow
08:34 because I need to have a good boba experience
08:38 before I leave.
08:39 And then we also need,
08:40 so yeah, boba experience is subpar,
08:43 but T-bar is the best.
08:45 So that was weird.
08:46 And then we went to like this little food truck place
08:49 called Cartopia, I think.
08:52 And we got pizza, it was really good.
08:55 And then we just honestly like took a shower.
08:57 My feet were so dirty from that hike.
08:59 My shoes, they're not cute, they're not cute.
09:01 (upbeat music)
09:04 We just went to Blue Star,
09:09 it's literally in walking distance from us.
09:11 And we got four donuts for two people.
09:13 This is like a raspberry rosemary that Ian already bit
09:17 'cause he has no self-control.
09:19 This is passion fruit cacao nib.
09:21 This is like Meyer lemon filled.
09:24 Oh yes.
09:25 And then this is like a chocolate one
09:27 that has like Earl gray tea in it or something.
09:30 I've been on a chocolate kick, so been liking it.
09:33 Okay, so Ian already tried the raspberry rosemary,
09:35 so I'm gonna try it now.
09:36 It's pretty fresh raspberry.
09:41 - I haven't tried it yet, so.
09:42 - These probably aren't even like that fresh either
09:45 'cause it's like literally in the middle of the afternoon.
09:48 What should be next?
09:49 Surprise me, I'm closing my eyes.
09:51 You're not like to bully me.
09:52 Okay, it's definitely a chocolate one.
09:58 - Pretty good.
10:00 - I like like the old fashioned cake style donuts.
10:02 - Yeah, Krispy Kreme doesn't really do those that well.
10:05 - Yeah, they do better like glazed ones.
10:08 Passion fruit cacao nib.
10:09 - Oh wow.
10:12 - You like don't even taste it yet, you're already saying wow.
10:14 - It's like a cocktail.
10:16 - Oh my gosh, that smell.
10:18 That's pretty great, wow.
10:22 It's so acidic.
10:25 All right, and this is the Meyer lemon.
10:27 - I used to have a Meyer lemon tree in my backyard.
10:30 - Oh, that looks so good, like lemon curd.
10:32 - Oh yeah, that's nuts.
10:34 That's nuts.
10:37 - That's pretty delicious.
10:39 It's enough for the donut taste test.
10:43 Get back.
10:44 (upbeat music)
10:47 Okay, so it's about 10 o'clock right now
10:56 and we just got all packed up.
10:59 Last night we ended up getting like a drink
11:00 at some like cocktail bar
11:02 and then we went to dinner at the Toro Bravo.
11:04 The food was really good, but they were like really slow
11:07 and usually tapas places like bring out food kind of fast,
11:10 but he was like, oh, it'll take 30 minutes for the paella
11:13 and we didn't order the paella
11:15 and everything else took like 40 minutes.
11:17 So I was like, okay.
11:19 But yeah, so we already know that our flight
11:21 is somewhat delayed, but that just means
11:23 we get a little more time here.
11:24 So we're gonna go to breakfast,
11:25 it's a place called Cafe Broder,
11:27 which is like kind of Scandinavian place.
11:29 And then we're gonna get Pips Donuts,
11:32 which I'm obsessed with Pips Donuts,
11:35 those mini donuts baked to order or fried to order,
11:37 I don't know, so good.
11:39 So we're gonna do that.
11:40 Another little OOTD,
11:41 I'm wearing literally the same shirt from the plane,
11:45 I'm holding the sock, this is my camera case,
11:47 very professional.
11:47 Again, this shirt is from Urban Outfitters
11:49 and these are my colorful koala animal print ones.
11:52 They're kind of like just a subtle little leopard print,
11:54 super cute, you can use code Kath10 to save money.
11:58 I like saving you guys money.
11:59 Now we're just gonna go to brunch
12:01 and that's gonna be like the end of our trip.
12:04 (upbeat music)
12:06 (upbeat music)
12:09 And the moment we've all been waiting for,
12:24 the Pips Donuts.
12:25 These are cinnamon sugar,
12:28 these are like honey sea salt,
12:29 these are Nutella sea salt, candied maple bacon,
12:33 which I didn't think I'd like,
12:34 but surprisingly really good.
12:35 And like blueberry and wild rose or something, so good.
12:39 Ian only wanted to get eight,
12:40 but I convinced him that he was insane
12:41 that we should get 12.
12:42 (upbeat music)
12:45 Oh my God, this is so soft.
12:49 Their seasonal flavors are like always really, really good.
12:53 Oh wow, that's so good.
12:56 If I have one place to recommend in Portland,
12:58 I think Pips is like literally always our favorite.
13:01 But yeah, we had a great time in Portland,
13:02 I ate so much food.
13:03 I think my body needs to detox.
13:06 I think my body needs to detox
13:10 because let me tell you my digestion
13:12 has not been excellent while we're here.
13:14 And that's why I normally tend to eat healthier
13:16 because I feel better.
13:17 And I've been a little tired while I'm here,
13:18 not gonna lie.
13:19 So off to eat these donuts.
13:21 Thank you guys for watching and I'll see you next time.
13:23 Bye.
