00:00 Many pharmacists in Baguio were sued for videoing a patient signing a language to make it easier for them to understand.
00:08 But it's not just him who has the ability in the hospital.
00:11 Ian Cruz learned from this.
00:13 The so-called simple transaction in Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center of this pharmacist
00:23 was ignored and praised by the netizens.
00:29 He suddenly signed a language to explain the prescription of a senior citizen with disability.
00:36 We learned from the 27-year-old pharmacist in the video.
00:39 Cassandra Camille Carbonel's story is that she was really a mother and the companions of the English Sign Language or ESL of Tungmayo.
00:48 She witnessed how the deaf were having a hard time in making a transaction in the hospital.
00:56 Before, we were forced to sign a paper with the patient.
01:00 So, you will write the whole sentence, but the patient will write it back on the paper.
01:06 You will sign the notes on the counter.
01:08 There was a time when there were people who were having a hard time in making a transaction in the hospital.
01:14 But now, the pharmacists are used to sign language.
01:18 The number of deaf people who are having a hard time in making a transaction with them has increased.
01:22 Some of them are really looking for you.
01:25 They will actually look for you.
01:27 "Where is this? Here, here."
01:29 So, I think by the way, they are more comfortable with us
01:34 because they found someone who can understand them better.
01:39 The hospital found that there is a need for sign language in 2016.
01:45 At first, they were only teaching it in the Health and Information Management Department until 21 employees
01:52 with different occupations were able to communicate using sign language.
01:57 It became successful because our frontliners who are in the registration like in the outpatient department,
02:08 emergency room and that meeting department, they can converse with our clients,
02:16 deaf and mute brothers and sisters.
02:18 In the new information, Cassandra also said that there is a broader responsibility on their shoulders.
02:26 Everyone should serve, especially those with disabilities.
02:31 Our vision has grown.
02:34 Because here, we can understand our patients better.
02:37 They are able to see their side through their shoes by knowing how they communicate.
