00:00 And we've been able to have a number of discussions.
00:03 One of the discussions we've been able to explore
00:05 is an appreciation, is a willingness
00:09 to partner with Ganger County
00:11 in speaking to issues of unemployment of our youth.
00:14 Through her support and through her network,
00:16 through the European Union, we have had a discussion.
00:18 We are going to put in a proposal
00:20 and be able to submit to our offices
00:22 on the following issues.
00:23 Number one, we will have a discussion
00:27 on the scholarship for our youth.
00:29 She indicated to us that the European Union
00:32 has a huge opportunity for the graduates that we have.
00:36 As you are aware, in Kirijo County,
00:38 just like many other counties,
00:40 we have so many graduates who are unemployed
00:42 and they're jobless.
00:43 And as a county, we've been always looking
00:46 and trying to identify how we can tap in
00:49 to the potential of these youths.
00:50 Recently, we've been able to employ close to 300 interns
00:54 who are actually graduates from the university,
00:57 but do not have any sense of meaningful employment.
01:00 To this extent, we appreciate the extension of the EU
01:03 that we can work together to be able
01:05 to get scholarship abroad
01:07 and be able to get even job opportunities abroad
01:10 for the many of our youths who are unemployed
01:12 and they have graduates.
01:14 - We also discussed a lot about opportunities
01:19 in the agricultural sector.
01:22 And the EU has several projects
01:27 working with young people and women
01:32 to make agriculture profitable,
01:35 to run agriculture like a business
01:38 and to make good money out of it.
01:41 So we do that with grants, loans, technical assistance.
01:46 And I think in Kenya, 60% of the workforce
01:52 is still absorbed in the agricultural sector.
01:56 And I'm convinced, and we have seen that
02:01 with several examples and conversations,
02:06 that there can be good money be made
02:10 in the agricultural sector with the right skills
02:15 and the right assistance.
