00:00 Thank you, Fire Marshal Bill.
00:02 Bill, you never can be too careful, man.
00:05 Welcome to "WatchMojo," and today, we'll
00:09 be looking at the cast of "In Living Color Then Versus Now."
00:12 Be careful.
00:14 I don't want you to stain my sweet new purple threads.
00:17 For this video, we'll be looking at what
00:19 a few of our favorite cast members from the sketch show
00:22 have been doing since the program ended.
00:24 Who was your favorite performer from "In Living Color"?
00:27 Let us know in the comments down below.
00:30 Kenan Ivory Wayans.
00:31 Hi, I'm Kenan Ivory Wayans, and welcome to the show.
00:34 You know, I've been trying to think of different ways
00:36 to open this show.
00:37 It all had to start somewhere.
00:39 And for "In Living Color," that somewhere
00:41 was the brain and imagination of Kenan Ivory Wayans.
00:44 Wayans was a fixture on the show during its early years,
00:47 appearing in sketches while also covering
00:49 writing and directing duties.
00:51 Wayans' home life as one of 10 children, perhaps,
00:54 also led to the showrunner making "In Living Color"
00:57 something of a family business.
00:59 Today, Kenan Ivory Wayans has slowed down,
01:01 but he continues to be creative, with his writing appearing
01:04 for the TV series "The Last OG" in 2020.
01:07 The man's creative voice has always
01:10 managed to be both funny and insightful,
01:12 no matter what his role on a production is.
01:15 You throw the card in there, boom,
01:16 or somebody else's card, boom.
01:18 Like that.
01:19 More money, more money, more money.
01:23 Jim Carrey.
01:24 Hey, fine, Marshall, Bill, your finger's on fire.
01:27 Yeah, get--
01:27 That's nothing.
01:29 I've caught fire so many times, I can't even feel it anymore.
01:32 Believe it or not, it wasn't necessarily
01:34 a foregone conclusion that this cast member from "In Living
01:37 Color" was going to break out as a star.
01:40 After all, Carrey had already built up
01:42 quality but comparatively low-profile appearances
01:46 in films like "The Deadpool" and "Earth Girls Are Easy."
01:49 But his incredible work on "In Living Color"
01:52 opened up the door to gigantic opportunities.
01:54 The same year that the show ended,
01:56 Carrey struck comedy gold three times in 1994
02:00 with "Dumb and Dumber," "Ace Ventura," and "The Mask."
02:03 He then went on to show his talent
02:05 for more dramatic fare like "Man on the Moon"
02:07 and "Internal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
02:10 From there, Carrey was free to take on countless
02:13 other A-list projects.
02:14 I could die right now, Clem.
02:19 I'm just--
02:22 I'm happy.
02:23 Damon Wayans.
02:25 Welcome all.
02:26 Welcome to Homie Cheese.
02:27 We're kicking big kid, unless he get on my damn nerves.
02:32 Damon Wayans wasn't a stranger to showbiz prior to breaking out
02:35 on "In Living Color."
02:36 The comedian enjoyed an infamously short tenure
02:39 as a member of the "Saturday Night Live" cast.
02:42 After his stint on both sketch shows had ended,
02:44 Damon Wayans found steady work in both television and movies.
02:48 While he entertained on the big screen
02:50 with works like "Major Pain," he commanded the small screen
02:53 with his "My Wife and Kids" sitcom.
02:55 Let me tell you something, son.
02:56 We live out in the suburbs.
02:57 There's no hood out here.
02:58 You're from the mean streets of Stamford, Connecticut.
03:01 Wayans also starred in the TV adaptation of "Lethal Weapon."
03:04 After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes,
03:07 he slowed down on making projects
03:09 to spend more time with family.
03:11 Wayans still recently appeared with the legendary Pam
03:14 Greer in the 2023 film "Cinnamon."
03:17 David Alan Greer.
03:18 Life's not fair.
03:20 You see this hip?
03:22 I shattered it playing an innocent game of Twister.
03:24 That's right.
03:25 Left hand, blue dot.
03:27 That's all she wrote.
03:28 Before starring on "In Living Color,"
03:30 David Alan Greer was pretty established in the theater
03:33 world.
03:33 He definitely put those talents on display
03:35 throughout many of his hilarious skits.
03:38 Greer also had a talent for making memorable appearances
03:41 in various works.
03:42 After the show ended, he was able to cameo
03:44 in popular staples like "Martin."
03:46 Greer has acted in films like "Jumanji," "They Cloned
03:50 Tyrone," and so many more.
03:52 All the while, he continued to work steadily in theater too.
03:55 Greer is set to grace the big screen yet again in 2023
03:59 with a role in "The Color Purple."
04:01 It seems like the actor has only become more in demand
04:04 as the years have gone on.
04:06 Well, you have come to the right place.
04:08 My name is Hal, and I have been working here
04:11 at the Library of Records for more years than I care to count.
04:14 Tommy Davidson.
04:16 Bam!
04:16 [LAUGHTER]
04:19 All right, the number's right here,
04:20 but you're going to have to read real quick, all right?
04:23 Because it's growing that fast.
04:24 He was born Anthony Reed in 1963.
04:27 After being abandoned at only 18 months old,
04:30 he became a star on one of the finest sketch comedy
04:33 shows on television.
04:34 Tommy Davidson's early amateur career
04:36 led to gigs opening up for established acts
04:39 like Robert Townsend.
04:40 His success on "In Living Color"
04:42 served as a jumping off point for Davidson
04:44 to make the transition to movies.
04:46 "CB4," "Booty Call," and "Black Dynamite"
04:49 are just a sample of his appearances.
04:51 Tommy Davidson has written a memoir
04:53 about his days in comedy and the entertainment industry
04:56 entitled "Living in Color--
04:58 What's Funny About Me?"
04:59 He also continues to act for both television and film,
05:03 including work on both original and revival
05:05 versions of "The Proud Family."
05:06 Yes, this is Oscar Proud.
05:08 I have to cancel my 7 o'clock dinner reservations.
05:10 Yes, I know it's last minute, but my thoughtless wife
05:13 hired Chef O'Boy.
05:14 [LAUGHS]
05:16 Yes, I thought it was funny, too.
05:18 Kelly Coffield Park.
05:19 Lies, all lies, I tell you.
05:21 Sure, maybe I hung around with the wrong crowd
05:23 and skipped Sunday school, but I'm not all that.
05:25 Kelly Coffield Park was an absolute standout in the cast.
05:29 She established herself as a performer with tons of talents
05:32 and lots of range.
05:34 Park's comedic chops would assist her during appearances
05:37 on sitcoms like "Seinfeld."
05:38 Additionally, she often collaborated
05:41 with other "In Living Color" alumni on their projects.
05:43 She also had a recurring role for the late '90s Fox
05:46 drama "413 Hope Street."
05:48 Coffield would marry her "In Living Color" co-star,
05:51 Steve Park, in 1999.
05:53 And the pair would go on to raise two children.
05:56 Along the way, she appeared on television and in films
06:00 throughout the 2010s.
06:02 Hello.
06:03 I think I left my cookie platter here from the open house.
06:06 I'm just going to grab it.
06:08 Kim Waynes.
06:09 We've already mentioned how "In Living Color"
06:11 was a family business.
06:13 Kenan Irie Waynes' sister, Kim Waynes,
06:15 starred as several breakout fan-favorite characters
06:19 on the show.
06:19 I mean, who could forget her role as town gossip
06:22 Bonita Bertrell?
06:23 That last one came out looking so much like the mailman
06:25 people were sticking letters in his diapers.
06:28 I ain't one to gossip, so you ain't heard that from me.
06:31 No, you haven't.
06:32 Kim Waynes continued to make appearances
06:34 in film and television after "In Living Color."
06:37 She contributed voice acting to the Damon Waynes animated
06:40 series "Waynehead" and helped with writing and directing
06:43 for "My Wife and Kids."
06:44 Additionally, the comedian showed more of her range
06:47 on the 2011 drama "Pariah."
06:49 And acting like I'm the big bad witch.
06:52 What about me, huh?
06:53 I'm here alone by myself all the time,
06:55 and Sharonda's getting older, and she's starting to go out
06:57 and pretty soon I'm going to--
06:58 I don't have anything to hide.
06:59 Waynes continued expanding beyond comedy
07:02 with one-offs on TV shows like "Criminal Minds."
07:05 She continues down this path today, balancing comedy
07:09 and drama with ease.
07:11 You know what I don't get?
07:14 This was so easy for you.
07:16 Sean Waynes.
07:17 This poem is entitled "Food."
07:22 Growl, growl, growl.
07:25 Hunger pains in my belly all day long.
07:28 It may surprise people to know that this Waynes brother
07:31 started working on "In Living Color" as DJ SW1
07:34 before he eventually joined up as a member of the cast.
07:37 From there, the rest was comedy history.
07:41 The actor starred on the Waynes brothers sitcom
07:43 for four years on the WB.
07:45 Now, what about hair--
07:47 Ball.
07:49 No, no, no.
07:50 Harriet Tubman.
07:53 The brothers followed in Kenan Ivory Waynes' creative
07:55 footsteps by helping to co-write the satirical comedy
07:58 "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking
08:01 Your Juice in the Hood."
08:02 Sean Waynes also teamed up with his brother
08:04 on films like "Scary Movie" and "White Chicks."
08:06 Uh, that's-- that's not no dog.
08:11 That's family.
08:11 Hey, cousin.
08:16 While he hasn't been seen in front of the cameras
08:18 much in the last decade, the actor
08:20 seems to be living a happy life with his wife and kids.
08:24 Takiyah Christokima.
08:26 And now it's time for "Black World."
08:30 While there were a lot of memorable sketches
08:32 on "In Living Color," few of them
08:34 resonated with the same sort of pathos as "Black World."
08:37 Conceived by Takiyah Christokima,
08:39 the sketch referenced some of the daily struggles
08:41 faced by the black community.
08:43 And when you go to the store, the white people
08:45 don't follow you around and ask you if you have some money.
08:48 Like, they know you don't have any money
08:49 because your mother didn't give you any money because she
08:52 not have any money.
08:53 Because-- and then-- because they--
08:54 they're not there anyway.
08:56 Her ability to navigate comedy and drama
08:58 definitely came in handy after "In Living Color" ended.
09:00 The writer and performer enjoyed a recurring role
09:03 on both "That's So Raven" and its subsequent sequel,
09:06 "Raven's Home."
09:07 Kima also found time to write a stage show,
09:10 host her own variety program, and basically
09:13 become a creative powerhouse with a
09:15 unique and dynamic presence.
09:18 Mom, I can't believe that you're actually here.
09:20 Well, hey, I wasn't going to let not getting an invitation
09:24 stop me from celebrating your dad's 60th birthday.
09:27 Kim Coles.
09:28 Then he tried to make it up to me
09:30 by buying me this cheap, fake African necklace.
09:32 Hey, you know I used to have a necklace just like that.
09:35 [LAUGHTER]
09:35 Yeah, girl.
09:36 But I showed him that he wasn't nearly as significant
09:40 as he thought.
09:42 Kim Coles was only a member of the "In Living Color" cast
09:45 for the show's first season.
09:46 But her career didn't end there by a long shot.
09:49 Coles has been a television mainstay appearing
09:52 on shows like "Frasier."
09:53 She's probably best known for appearing on the Cosby show
09:56 spinoff "Living Single."
09:57 [SPITS]
09:58 [LAUGHTER]
10:00 Bad file.
10:01 Bad file.
10:03 It's the small screen that's probably given Coles
10:05 the most love over the years.
10:07 She's worked as a game show host, voiceover actor,
10:10 and reality show contestant.
10:12 Basically a Jill of all trades when it comes
10:14 to reliable television work.
10:16 Coles has also tried her hand at stand-up comedy and even
10:19 soap opera acting.
10:21 She recently appeared as Nurse Whitley King
10:23 on the long-running soap opera "Days of Our Lives."
10:26 It's a real soap opera.
10:28 And I love that they used the actors on this show to play.
10:32 It was a treat for me to see Deirdre Hall turn around
10:35 with this giant blonde wig on.
10:38 And Alexandra Wentworth.
10:39 Mr. Williams, wouldn't you agree
10:41 that boxers who have taken as many blows to their head
10:45 as you have, shall we say, lost something upstairs?
10:49 Although Alexandra Wentworth didn't
10:51 join the cast of "In Living Color"
10:53 until the show's fourth season, she left
10:55 a very memorable impression.
10:57 Afterwards, Wentworth hosted talk shows
10:59 and did memorable guest spots on sitcoms
11:02 before landing her own, "Headcase," in 2007.
11:05 Wentworth did appear in the occasional movie,
11:08 such as "Jerry Maguire" in 1996.
11:10 She later married noted political pundit, news anchor,
11:13 and advisor George Stephanopoulos in 2001.
11:17 She continues to work as a writer, actor, and comedian
11:20 as of 2023.
11:21 At the same time, Wentworth raises two children
11:25 with Stephanopoulos.
11:26 That personal experience likely made her a great host
