00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the coolest, most popular,
00:12or just plain iconic digital partners.
00:15To keep our Digivices in check, we're only considering Digimon that have appeared in
00:20the anime.
00:21We're also sticking to one per evolution line, not counting fusions.
00:34Number 20, Machinedramon.
00:37There's two very big reasons to be afraid of Machinedramon, and they're sitting on
00:41its back.
00:42That's right, if the slick metal exterior doesn't intimidate you, the hulking twin
00:47cannons definitely will.
00:53The blasters just aren't for decoration either, taking down many who oppose him.
00:58Then again, what else would you expect when fighting one of the Dark Masters?
01:13Machinedramon didn't conquer the digital world on Menace alone.
01:16It's got the firepower to back it up.
01:18At this point, it's best to just stay clear altogether.
01:21Once Machinedramon's laid its eyes on you, it's already too late.
01:32Number 19, Gammamon.
01:35Looking for a suitable partner?
01:37Here's a tip.
01:38Wherever there's chocolate, Gammamon won't be far behind.
01:41But what he lacks in maturity, he makes up for with sheer charm.
01:46Well, that, and his unprecedented versatility in combat.
01:56Gammamon's got digivolutions for days.
01:59You want a battle-ready flyer?
02:01A fiery brawler?
02:02How about a walking railgun?
02:04There's even an evil one hell-bent on destroying the world.
02:11Gammamon's every kind of partner rolled into one adorable package.
02:16Actually, scratch that.
02:18Gammamon's no mere partner.
02:20He's Hiro's little brother.
02:21And as far as younger siblings go, you won't find any quite as lovable as Gammamon.
02:32Number 18, Wizardmon.
02:35Evil henchmen don't usually make for good friends.
02:38But Wizardmon will steal your heart.
02:40No spells required.
02:42While he initially served in Myotismon's ghastly army, it was only to help keep Gattomon
02:47and Kari out of the bloodsuckers' clutches.
02:50Ah, forget about it.
02:51As a matter of fact, Thunderbolt!
02:56Later, when push came to shove, he even put his own life on the line to defend those he
03:01cares about.
03:03Gattomon's heart-wrenching sacrifice cements him as an unforgettable part of an already
03:08unforgettable storyline.
03:22Especially since his death triggers Gattomon's evolution to Ultimate.
03:27Angewomon gets the honor of smacking around Myotismon, but this is Wizardmon's victory
03:32through and through.
03:37Number 17, Rosemon.
03:39It takes more than a little water and sunlight to raise a mega-level Digimon.
03:44But Rosemon is worth the green thumb.
03:53She's easily one of the franchise's most popular figures, and one look at all her buds and
03:58petals will tell you why.
04:01Rosemon's thorny lash really knows how to whip people into shape, that's just a fact.
04:10Best of all, there's plenty of her to go around.
04:13Over the years, Rosemon's served as the canon megaform for not just one, but two separate
04:18DigiDestined.
04:19That says it all right there.
04:21No matter the season, Rosemon is always in full bloom.
04:32Number 16, Diaboromon.
04:35This guy's a walking, talking endorsement for online security.
04:45Diaboromon started out as a lowly spam virus, and then Digivolved into a general annoyance.
04:51And then a serious problem, and then a threat to all of Japan.
04:56And that was just in an afternoon.
05:02Diaboromon's takeover of the World Wide Web got so serious, it forced the DigiDestined
05:07to enter the fray and bring out the big guns.
05:10In the case of Omnimon's supreme canon, literally.
05:13Even though Diaboromon's hostile plan went nuclear, the fact that he triggered the franchise's
05:19first ever DNA Digivolution is still a badge of honour.
05:27Number 15, Leomon.
05:29Proud, courageous, and powerful, Leomon is the type of friendly face that's hard to
05:35forget.
05:36After all, he's a walking lion with a sword.
05:39How cool is that?
05:47Leomon lives up to his design by fighting for what's right, even if it means throwing
05:52himself in the line of fire.
05:54In fact, he's died protecting the DigiDestined on more than a few occasions.
05:59It's to the point that nowadays, Leomon's got a notorious reputation for heroic sacrifices.
06:10If that doesn't prove his loyalty, nothing will.
06:13Plus, Digimon don't really die, they're just reborn.
06:17Sometimes as shiny, new megas too.
06:20Trust us, you can't go wrong rooting for Leomon.
06:26Number 14, Terriamon.
06:29Remember?
06:30When in doubt, Momentai.
06:31Terriamon's catchphrase is about taking it easy, which is a necessary reminder when
06:36you're facing corrupted Digimon, godly Davers, or the actual end of the world.
06:45That's not to say Terriamon is all sunshine and funny blasts though.
06:49As Henry learned first hand, this Digimon packs a lot of personality into its short
06:54frame.
07:00But at a certain point, Terriamon's insatiable sass becomes a part of its charm.
07:06No matter if you're using its ears for shade, or facing an unstoppable foe, there's no
07:10need to Digimodify Terriamon.
07:13It's perfect just the way it is.
07:25Number 13, Susanoomon.
07:28Digimon Frontier took an all new direction for the series when it introduced the concept
07:32of humans transforming into Digimon.
07:35Both Takuya and Koji are able to become skilled Digimon such as Agunimon and Lobomon.
07:41But when they combine themselves and 20 spirits, they reach all new heights.
07:53Based on the Japanese Z-God Susano, this Digimon truly lives up to its name.
07:58He's packing the zero-arms Orochi and is said to be one of the fiercest Digimon to date,
08:04even taking down the unstoppable Lucemon.
08:12Though this series wasn't as well received back in the day, it touts some of the best
08:16designs in the franchise, and Susanoomon is no exception.
08:26Number 12, Veemon.
08:28When they say Veemon's thick-headed, they aren't joking.
08:32He's overeager, bursting with attitude, and likes to act first and think later.
08:37But more than that, his hard head also serves a very practical use in battle, namely when
08:43he uses it for his devastating V-Headbutt attack.
08:47Hey, you can't say Veemon doesn't fight with his head.
08:52All in all, Veemon is the kind of enthusiastic knucklehead you can't help but cheer for.
09:04Considering he's partnered with the easily excitable Davis, we shouldn't even be surprised.
09:09If anyone's worthy of standing beside O2's resident gogglehead, it's definitely Veemon.
09:18Number 11, Renamon.
09:20Rika's rookie-level Digimon, based on the kitsune of Japanese folklore, has gained significant
09:26popularity with the Digimon fanbase.
09:32She is seemingly intelligent and capable for just a rookie-level Digimon, and as such,
09:38excels in battle against others in Tokyo.
09:41Although Rika and Renamon's relationship is originally that of utility, the two soon
09:46bond and later bio-merge to become Sakuyamon.
09:50Still, Renamon's strength not only lies on her abilities in battle, but more so on
09:57her kindness, even showing compassion for the mischievous Impmon.
10:05Number 10, Alphamon.
10:07One of the thirteen Royal Knight Digimon, this mysterious, precious one faces off against
10:13the team in Digimon Adventure Tri.
10:22His motives and intentions were uncertain, but one thing was for sure, this Digimon was
10:27powerful.
10:33Another Alphamon debuted as the protagonist in the TV movie, Digimon X Evolution, transforming
10:39from the weak Dorumon into the Royal Knight of Myth.
10:50Number 9, Gatomon.
10:52An unusual cat Digimon who is able to maintain her champion form.
10:57When Gatomon first appears, she's part of Myotismon's evil legion, set on taking over
11:02the human world.
11:13It's only until meeting Kari, her destined partner, that she's able to regain her memories
11:18and stand aside the other hero Digimon.
11:28As a means of redemption, Gatomon Digivolves into her ultimate form, Angewomon, and defeats
11:33her former leader alongside Angewomon.
11:36Gatomon continues to stand beside the DigiDestined in Season 2, reaching other forms such as
11:42Nefertimon and Silphimon.
11:48Number 8, Shoutmon.
11:51Now you may be wondering why this little fella is among all these other Digimon titans, but
11:56his power has to be seen to be believed.
12:02Shoutmon possesses the unique ability to fuse with other Digimon, making his possibilities
12:08endless.
12:09Creating forms such as the unparalleled Shoutmon X7F Superior Mode, this tough little cookie
12:15can face even the strongest of foes.
12:22He even has a cool Digivolution to boot.
12:25His cockiness and fighting spirit serve only to accomplish his ultimate goal, to become
12:30the king of all Digimon.
12:38Number 7, Gallantmon.
12:40There are few Digimon as lovable as Gilmon.
12:43His silliness, loving nature, and playful attitude are seen from the get-go.
12:48That's why it's such a surprise when the goofy Gilmon bio-merges with his partner Takato
12:54to become the Knight Digimon, Gallantmon.
13:03After accidentally forcing him to become Megidramon, Takato then embraces his friendship with Gilmon
13:09to help him achieve this form.
13:11Gallantmon touts incredible speed and strength, putting away foes with the Lightning Joust.
13:21But, Gallantmon doesn't stop there, achieving additional powers such as Docking Grunny and
13:30the ascended Crimson Mode.
13:39Number 6, MetalGururumon.
13:42Using an ancient prophecy, some angel's arrows, and a massive leap of faith, Matt and Gabumon
13:48finally reach their pinnacle.
13:50It goes by the name of MetalGururumon.
13:59Along with WarGreymon, this marked the first time any of the DigiDestined had reached the
14:04Mega Level, and it did not disappoint.
14:08Introduced via the jaw-dropping Warp Digivolution sequence, MetalGururumon's slick design and
14:14overwhelming might made it a quick fan favourite.
14:18Well, to everyone besides VenomMyotismon, that is.
14:25Did we mention MetalGururumon can freeze enemies solid and shoot missiles from its chest?
14:31The power of friendship has never looked so cool.
14:40Number 5, Imperialdramon, Paladin Mode.
14:44The team of the obnoxious leader, Davis, and former Digimon Emperor, Ken, seemed unlikely.
14:50But when push came to shove, the two were able to work together by DNA Digivolving ExVemon
14:56and Stingmon into the ultimate known as Piledramon.
15:06Let's admit, this guy looked a little goofy, but when they took it to the next level and
15:10became Imperialdramon, we were sold.
15:17Starting out as the Dragon Mode and then becoming the Bipedal Fighter Mode, he was able to take
15:23on the likes of Malomyotismon and BlackWarGreymon.
15:27But at the end of the day, nothing is cooler than Imperialdramon's Paladin Mode.
15:36Number 4, Angemon.
15:38From little seeds do great trees grow, or in this case, flying hamsters can turn into
15:44angels.
15:48When the DigiDestined first entered the digital world, the threat of Devimon and his BlackGears
15:53lingers over them.
15:54One by one, they were able to Digivolve their partners to the champion level to take down
15:59these challenges.
16:00But Patamon seemed to be a late bloomer.
16:03When it finally came down to it, Patamon and TK's determination helped him become Angemon,
16:08one of the most powerful champion Digimon.
16:15With his hand of fate, Angemon has proved that he was more than capable of fighting.
16:25Number 3, WarGreymon.
16:27Agumon's true mega needs no introduction.
16:31WarGreymon's debut during the original adventure remains one of Digimon's most iconic moments
16:36for good reason.
16:38WarGreymon is just that legendary.
16:43That's saying something when you realise how many different kinds of Greymon there
16:47have been over the years.
16:49For example, BlackWarGreymon is easily one of the series' best villains, if only because
16:54it gave us the unforgettable duel of WarGreymon.
17:00On the other hand, Marcus' Agumon abandoned the armour and went full-on dragon, delivering
17:06the instantly memorable ShineGreymon.
17:09But among all the retreads and iterations, there's something about WarGreymon's classic
17:15Terraforce that never gets old.
17:25Number 2, Beelzemon.
17:27All Impmon ever wanted was respect.
17:30When he ran away from his tamer's home, he came to the conclusion that Digimon don't
17:34need humans and instead pursues ultimate strength.
17:38Opportunity knocked when Katoramon offered him the ability to digivolve in exchange for
17:43the tamer's lives.
17:45A deal he quickly took up on and became the ever-badass Beelzemon.
17:53Beelzemon shook the series' foundations by killing the beloved Leomon.
17:57However, after seeing the error of his ways, he forms an alliance with the tamers in their
18:02mission to defeat the D-Reaper.
18:04With his newfound selfless attitude and ability to reach the Blast Mode, Beelzemon could perhaps
18:09be the coolest Digimon of all.
18:35Number 1, Omnimon.
18:38Back in the day, the debate of who was better, Agumon or Gabumon, was tireless.
18:49But when the Digimon movie first debuted, that dispute was over.
18:54Combining their Mega Digivolutions, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon to defeat Diaboromon, Omnimon
19:00was born.
19:05Wielding the Greysword in one hand and the Garuru Cannon in the other, this Digimon is
19:10able to go toe-to-toe with some of the best.
19:13Though the two often butt heads, Matt and Tai's teamwork is undeniably effective.
19:23Putting their differences aside once more, Omnimon made his glorious return in Digimon
19:28Adventure Tri, where he proved that he hasn't lost a step.
19:32And we'd be remiss not to mention his awesome appearance at the beginning of the Adventure
19:37Reboot.
