Uplift Performing Arts drama coach Neve Hutchinson gives a tour of the Community Black Box Theatre, based at the group's rehearsal space 'The Wing' in Carrickfergus town centre. Uplift is encouraging local artists, musicians and creatives who wish to use the space to get in touch.

00:07 Hi guys and welcome to The Wing here at Uplift.
00:11 Now this is normally our rehearsal space but today I have a very exciting announcement.
00:16 So if you don't know me, my name is Niamh.
00:18 I used to go to Uplift as a student starting way back in 2012.
00:21 But now I'm working as our drama coach and I'm so excited to be able to show you our Black Box Theatre.
00:27 Now if you didn't know already, it has always been Uplift's dream to have a theatre of our own.
00:32 And although this is still a dream that we are looking to work towards for the next coming years,
00:36 we have decided that this year we wanted to introduce the Black Box Theatre.
00:40 Now this theatre is intended for any artist, young or old, whether this be poetry, dramatic readings, singer-songwriter, you name it.
00:49 This is a space for you to be able to show your talents to a smaller audience.
00:53 Whether you haven't had the opportunity to yet or you just want another space to be able to do so here in Carrickfergus.
00:59 As we are also all about connecting with our community.
01:02 Now over here we have our tech desk for the Black Box Theatre.
01:07 Now as you can see we have our lighting rig and our sound desk.
01:11 In the future we intend to have this a little bit smaller and to the back of the theatre.
01:16 That way we can increase our capacity from what it is now.
01:19 Now as you can see we have a performer in here now. This is Robbie and he is playing some of his GCSE compositions.
01:26 So if you are doing your GCSEs, you are doing music and you just composed what you think is the next banger.
01:32 Well if you want to perform it, this is definitely the space to do so.
01:36 So Robbie is strumming away in our wonderful Black Box.
01:41 Here you can have some of his friends.
01:44 You can have people he has invited along to be able to show his wonderful talent.
