00:44 Mr. President, Excellencies, distinguished members of the General Assembly,
00:52 Namaste from Bharat.
00:54 (Applause)
00:58 Let me begin by expressing our felicitations to the President of the General Assembly,
01:04 His Excellency, Denis Francis,
01:08 and our fullest support to the 78th UNGA's theme of rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity.
01:20 This is an occasion to take stock of our achievements and challenges, even while sharing our aspirations and goals.
01:30 And indeed, in regard to both, there is much that India has to share.
01:36 (Speaking in foreign language)
02:04 Mr. President, all nations pursue their national interests.
02:10 We, in India, have never seen that as being in contradiction with global good.
02:18 When we aspire to be a leading power, this is not for self-aggrandizement,
02:25 but to take on greater responsibility and make more contributions.
02:31 The goals we have set for ourselves will make us different from all those whose rise preceded ours.
02:41 India demonstrated this during the COVID through the Vaccine Maitri Initiative.
02:47 Our endeavors, like the International Solar Alliance and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, have gathered wide support.
02:58 Our espousing of the International Year of Millets is enhancing global food security today.
03:07 We have built development partnerships with 78 nations across geographies.
03:15 And we have also been first responders in disaster emergency situations.
03:22 The people of Turkey saw that in February, as did those in Syria.
03:29 Our commitment is understandably even greater closer home.
03:35 When Sri Lanka experienced a severe economic crisis, it was India that first stepped forward.
03:44 But even in distant regions, partners such as the Pacific Islands have appreciated our contributions
03:52 to meet their needs in health, in technology, and in climate action.
03:58 Mr. President, the most populous nation and the fifth largest economy in the world
04:05 knows that its progress makes a real difference to the world.
04:12 Especially so when so many nations identify with us for reasons of history, of geography, and of culture.
04:22 They follow our experiences closely and evaluate our solutions for their larger relevance.
04:29 Last week, the United Nations assessed progress towards achieving SDGs.
04:37 The mood here reflected the struggle to overcome challenges, especially those of resource paucity.
04:46 It is therefore vital at this midway that we expand our capacities and regain our confidence.
04:54 As the largest contributor to meeting SDG targets, India's achievements should give heart to others on this journey.
05:05 After all, the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index records that we have halved the global MPI value in the last 15 years.
05:15 Now, the Foreign Minister has also taken India's name in the National Assembly, which has never happened before.
05:23 The result has been a success in the political arena.
05:26 But the Indian name is also not mentioned much in the talks of the big country.
05:34 It is clear that the Modi government wants to increase the use of India while keeping India's name.
05:43 Be ready for One India Bangla.
