00:04 of former world number 2 Gordon Kennett at the age of 70.

00:11 Kennett represented numerous clubs during a highly successful near 25 year career, but

00:16 he is best remembered for his time with Eastbourne.

00:19 He made his Eagles debut in 1970 and went on to have 3 spells with the Sussex side,

00:24 racing for them in a total of 13 seasons becoming a long serving number 1 and captain and the

00:29 club's all time top scorer.

00:31 Individually, he finished a brilliant second in the 1978 World Final at Wembley, just one

00:37 point behind winner Oli Olsen.

00:39 And the same season saw him secure world pairs glory for England at Chorzo, teaming up with

00:45 Malcolm Simmons to edge out New Zealand in a run off for the title.

00:48 Kennett retired after a stint with Wolverhampton in 1993-94, but remained a regular visitor

00:56 to Speedway and still enjoyed riding bikes.
