Transcript
00:00 My name's Terry, I'm from Mid Coast Council, I'm the strategic weed by security officer.
00:06 In the Mid Coast area we've recently identified a new novel invasive species to New South
00:11 Wales.
00:12 It's called Plume Poppy, Baconia frutescens.
00:15 It's identified by huge leaves that are dark green on the top and have a silvery surface
00:22 underneath.
00:23 It's a hollow stem that has a poppy mixture in the middle and this is the largest member
00:30 of the poppy family.
00:32 It can grow up to 6 metres.
00:34 In Hawaii it's become a major invasive weed and it's only newly detected in New South
00:40 Wales with two infestations in the Mid Coast area.
00:45 If you see this plant please report it to Council.
00:48 Ring up if it's on your land, if you have one in your garden, please get in touch so
00:53 that we can help you manage this species before it impacts the whole of the Mid Coast and
