Skegness is gearing up for the return of the Goldwings Light Parade, which nearly didn't happen because of lack of funding. However, after the community rallied to save it, organisers are now looking forward to the parade along the seafront and to raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

00:00 Hiya, my name's Mick Ainsley, I'm the owner of the States Quo Tribute Bike.
00:13 It's a bit of a special bike isn't it?
00:16 Yes I think so, but it's a special band, you know, and it's my way of saying thank you
00:21 to the band for what they've done over the years.
00:24 I grew up listening to Quo, so I thought I'd make a bike that is dedicated to them and their music.
00:32 So have they seen this bike?
00:34 They have, yes, we did a photo shoot at Scarborough when they came and I've had Francis sat on this
00:42 and I've also had the original drummer John Coghlan at Minehead Butlins, he came and he's been on the bike
00:51 and also the new drummer Leon Cave, he's been on it and his drumstick's on the back of the bike
00:58 along with the signatures of the band as well.
01:01 So you're going to be very proud to be in tonight's parade on this?
01:05 Oh yes, it's nice to show it off and it's nice to tell the youngsters about States Quo
01:11 and the fact that they are probably, truly the oldest long-reign rock and roll band in the country
01:18 that's still performing.
01:21 I'm Martin, Martin Coghlan from States Quo.
01:24 Martin, how long have you been coming to the Goldman Light Parade in Skateland?
01:29 At least 10 years.
01:31 And tell me about your bike.
01:34 The bike? I love it.
01:36 Yeah, well, yeah, it looks quite magnificent. Tell me about it.
01:43 It's an 1800 Goldring Trike and behind the bike, it takes the back wheel off and puts it back on.
01:57 And that's why they call it a trike, it's got three wheels.
02:01 Okay, so, and, oh yeah, it's quite lively here isn't it this afternoon.
02:08 So it's all going to be lit up tonight isn't it?
02:10 Oh yeah, it starts about half past seven.
02:13 And I'll be in the lead.
02:15 Right, oh, wow, it's great that we're chatting to you then.
02:21 Is this the first year you've taken the lead?
02:24 This will be the second one.
02:26 When I say taking the lead, our organiser will be driving and I'll be on the back, Christine.
02:35 Okay, well you've got a passenger this afternoon, who have we got there?
02:39 It's Christine.
02:40 Oh right, okay.
02:41 Yeah.
02:42 Yeah, well, well we'll look forward to seeing you both tonight at the parade.
02:49 Yeah, yeah, it starts at half past seven.
02:52 And we start from the clock tower, we go down the prom and back again.
02:58 We do that three to four times.
03:00 Everybody's lit up. It's brilliant.
03:02 Brilliant.
