00:00 Jackson with his coaches.
00:01 Uh, always.
00:03 We sincerely appreciate your time for jumping on this call.
00:05 If you could please start us out with an opening statement, recapping
00:08 your team's most recent outing versus Florida Memorial.
00:10 No, we, uh, we're excited to be at home playing in Florida Memorial.
00:15 Uh, got an opportunity to get a win.
00:16 Our guys are excited to, uh, host another game here at home.
00:20 So appreciate those opening comments.
00:24 Coach.
00:24 First question goes to Dr.
00:26 Kabil, Kenyatta, Kabil, Dr.
00:31 Bill's inside the HBC sports lab.
00:33 Morning, coach Jackson.
00:34 How's it going?
00:34 Good.
00:35 Good morning to you.
00:36 Want to talk about miles Crowley and your offense been extremely
00:40 efficient throughout the year, really, but particularly in this last home
00:45 game, 14 to 27, two 23 touchdowns.
00:47 As you know, um, is he matriculating in your office as you would
00:51 expect them at this time of the year?
00:52 No, he is.
00:54 Uh, there's no question.
00:55 He is, uh, but still he's got to continue to grow week in and week out.
00:59 Uh, he's going to face different defenses as we take this journey during the season.
01:03 Uh, there are some balls I'm sure he would love to have had back this past
01:07 week, but he's going to continue to grow and continue to get better.
01:10 A follow up question is about the next matchup, get into the conference play
01:16 with Texas Southern coming to here.
01:17 Uh, they play two quarterbacks this year.
01:20 Uh, talk a little bit about in terms of your defense.
01:23 Um, although this past game, they would be able to get some takeaways key, but
01:28 it seems like they've been able to, the run has been something that may concern
01:32 you, how do you look at that in terms of the space with Texas Southern universe?
01:36 Oh, absolutely.
01:37 Uh, it's concerned me.
01:39 We need to continue to get better in that area.
01:41 We got to make sure we handle the run.
01:44 Better.
01:44 Uh, gap control is obviously going to be really important when you play Texas
01:49 Southern, they have quarterbacks that can run the ball and they have really
01:51 good running backs that can run the football.
01:53 So we're going to have to really do a great job this week and
01:56 practice of focusing on that.
01:57 We're going to have to gain, tackle the ball and do a little bit better job of,
02:00 of getting that yardage protection.
02:02 Now.
02:02 Thank you, coach.
02:04 Good luck this weekend.
02:05 I look forward to the matchup.
02:06 Thank you.
02:07 Next question goes to James Hill.
02:09 Hey, I hope you and everyone at rambling state university or whale coach.
02:15 Uh, talk about Mr.
02:16 Williams.
02:16 He was able to go up and get a few, uh, three receptions, 103 yards
02:21 and one touchdown.
02:22 No, it's exciting to see some of our young players starting to emerge.
02:26 You know, Tylee title of Williams is a very talented, uh, young kid out of, uh,
02:31 Zachary, you know, high school did a great, great job for us this past week.
02:35 I made some tremendous plays.
02:37 We've been waiting on that and it's starting to show itself.
02:39 Him and, uh, Javon Robinson, there've been two guys that have been really good
02:44 players, very good young players.
02:46 They're freshmen, you know, and they're new to our system, but they've really
02:50 done a good job of, you know, in matriculating themselves into the
02:54 culture and understanding what we're asking of them and they've
02:56 been making plays for us.
02:58 Oh, child.
03:00 The West was one, a SWAC West matchup.
03:03 Uh, two teams will be fighting.
03:06 All the teams will be playing hard this weekend, but talk about
03:10 your opportunity coming up.
03:11 Oh, absolutely.
03:12 This gets us off, you know, conference play on the right foot.
03:15 We're here at home.
03:17 We need to, you know, take care of business here at home and start
03:20 opening conference the right way.
03:22 You know, obviously we, our aspirations is to win the West.
03:25 So this is how it starts right here.
03:28 We got to go protect our home, uh, do a great job of playing, uh, football,
03:33 get better this week in all phases of our football team and, uh, go get a win.
03:37 Have a great week, coach Jackson.
03:40 Thank you.
03:41 Next question goes to Dr.
03:44 Prince.
03:46 Good morning, coach.
03:47 How are you today, sir?
03:48 Doing great.
03:49 All right.
03:51 Well, congratulations on your home win.
03:53 And it's always good to get that first home win.
03:55 And as you were just talking about how the West was born and we know that
04:00 the skill possessions or positions are always the ones that are focused on.
04:05 But, uh, these games, as you know, are one in the trenches and how do you
04:09 like your old line matchup against Texas Southern D line and vice versa?
04:14 I like our offensive line.
04:16 I like what we're doing.
04:18 I like, you know, exactly where we are right now.
04:22 I think we have a good group of guys who are starting to gel, you
04:25 know, it's going in game number four.
04:27 So I think those guys kind of know each other a little bit better.
04:30 Um, but I kind of like this matchup, but again, we're going to play against a
04:34 very, very, very talented Texas Southern team, you know, and we've, we've seen
04:39 some good teams already, so we won't be surprised by their skill and their
04:43 athleticism.
04:46 Okay, coach.
04:47 Well, good luck to you on this week, sir.
04:48 Thank you.
04:50 Next question goes to Jakey.
04:52 Hey coach.
04:54 How are you this morning?
04:54 Doing well.
04:55 Hey, where do you think you guys are at as far as your expectations in year two
05:00 of your progression and changing the culture we talked about last year?
05:03 I think the culture is definitely changing.
05:06 I think the expectation of winning is there.
05:09 I think our guys understand that the work has to be put in weekend and week out.
05:14 Um, and I think we're starting to hit our stride.
05:17 You know, we got to go win this West division is what we need to do, but you
05:21 can only do that if you start winning these games one at a time, we need to go
05:25 win at home this week against Texas.
05:27 And do you like the consistency of your team and the effort they give in the
05:31 last four weeks or three weeks so far?
05:33 Oh, absolutely.
05:35 I love the effort of our football team.
05:37 I like the focus of our football team, which we had a couple more wins under our
05:41 belt, but we'll, we'll take where we are and you gotta, you gotta make hay from
05:44 here.
05:45 Thank you, coach.
05:47 Currently taking questions for coach Jackson with Bradley say, next
05:51 question goes to Perry Daniels.
05:53 Coach Jackson.
05:55 Uh, you talked about your young man from Zachary high school.
05:58 Uh, can you talk about your recruitment strategy and the state of Louisiana and
06:03 the amount of talent that comes out of those high schools?
06:06 Well, as you know, there's a ton of talent in this area.
06:09 We're trying to do a great job of keeping the talent home.
06:12 I think it's important for our program.
06:14 We're going to do everything we can to put a lock around a bunch of fences that
06:18 are around here and see if we can get these young men to stay here and come to
06:21 Gremlin state university.
06:22 But obviously, as you know, in this state, there are some other universities as
06:26 well, and we have great respect for those schools, but boy, we're looking for a
06:30 certain type of player to come here and be a G man.
06:32 We have a profile of the players that we're looking for to fit our offense,
06:36 defense, and special teams teams.
06:38 And if guys have that character that we're looking for, we're going to go
06:42 after them as hard as we can.
06:44 So I feel good about what we've done thus far.
06:47 I think we got to continue to be better in that area because we know that's the
06:50 lifeblood of our programs recruiting, and we got to do continue to do a great job
06:54 that way.
06:55 And I think we will.
06:56 Good luck coach.
