00:00 Hello, I'm Michael Crosland, Business Reporter with the Yorkshire Post, and we have news
00:04 that a potential 400 jobs could be created in East Yorkshire after Finnish tissue paper
00:11 manufacturer Meta Tissue has announced its plans to build the UK's largest tissue paper
00:16 mill. The firm has proposed to build the factory in Goule, with construction taking place in
00:23 several phases over the coming decade on a 211 acre site. As well as 400 direct jobs
00:31 created within the mill, Meta Tissue also says that the construction will create thousands
00:37 of indirect jobs across the supply chain and in the local economy. The announcement of
00:43 the planned investment follows an agreement between Wycland, which has long-term development
00:48 rights to the site, and Meta Tissue. Wycland managing director Dominic Gibbons said the
00:54 firm had identified the potential of the new site a few years ago and that it was now delighted
01:00 to have secured a major international investor. Meta Tissue added that the new facility would
01:06 significantly reduce the quantity of tissue products imported into the UK and Ireland
01:12 and that it will increase the UK's self-sufficiency in tissue products by more than 30%. The firm
01:19 also said the factory will use the latest in sustainable production technology. That's
01:25 all we have on the story at the minute. I'm Michael Crossland reporting for the Yorkshire
01:29 Post.
