A psychic who claims she has been able to talk to the dead all her life says they've told her everyone goes on a "spiritual spa day" to "heal" when they die.
Emily Dexter, 31, realised she was psychic as a child and would speak to spirits when playing in the forest near her home.
Growing up, Emily said she would suppress her psychic abilities and would have her mum sleep in her bed as she was scared of seeing spirits.
Emily said dead family members aren't good with boundaries so can pop up everywhere she goes.
The psychic claims spirits have told her when we die, we go on a "spiritual spa day" - where we heal from the difficulties we had when we were human.
Emily, a professional psychic, from Lake Taho, California, US, said: "When we pass, we go to what I lovingly call a spiritual spa day.
"So, we hang out with our dead loved ones for a week or two then head there, where we basically cope with and heal from all the difficulties we had while we were human.
"This period can last for a week, a year, or five years. It all depends on the person and their path.
"Afterwards, we continue on our path - which usually includes popping back in to check on loved ones or guiding them when they pass, or moving on to our next life, or rejoining our higher self."
Emily said she has been able to speak to spirits as long as she can remember and would often be found in the woods by her house hanging out with her "imaginary friends".
She said: "I have been able to do this from the moment I can remember.
"I thought everyone could see their past relatives standing in the room with them - I thought it was normal.
"When I was eight, I realised that everyone couldn't do that.
"I told my mum about all those weird things that had happened to me, and I would remember knowing that my mum didn't know what these things are.
"I suppressed it a lot in middle school but in my early 20s I left an abusive relationship and realised I wanted my psychic abilities back."
Emily said the reason she suppressed her abilities was down to not knowing how to talk about what she saw.
She said she would have nights when her mum would sleep in her bed as she would see dead relatives.
She said: "It made me feel weird because I didn't know how to talk about it.
"I was at the stage where I wanted to fit in but seeing dead people doesn't really help you fit in.
"Now, it is so integrated into my daily life, I don't need to turn it on and off.
"The way it works for me is I do see energy with my eyes, so I didn't realise this for a long time but over everything there is a layer of energy that I see but other people can't.
"I will also see spirit guides around people, the same with their passed loved ones.
"I have a room for them in my mind and I have that door closed unless people ask for me to speak to them.
"Passed loved ones aren't usually great with boundaries - they will want to give someone a message."
Emily says the living are guided by "spiritual guides" who are essentially their team of helpers in life.
She said: "You don't necessarily see them, but you can hear them or just feel them with you.
"They are your team of helpers that work to help your life go the way you would like it to go and achieve the things you want to achieve.
"I think of them as friends, they are all friends, you have them for a long time, and they are around to help you out."

00:00 what happens when a psychic goes to the Colosseum?
00:02 Let me tell you about it, because it's quite the experience.
00:06 And you're going to want to stay to the end. On this one, it has a very surprising conclusion.
00:08 We went to Italy this past March with the sole intention of me getting to channel in
00:12 different people who lived in ancient history in different ancient locations.
00:15 So, of course, the Colosseum was on that list.
00:17 That being said, the Colosseum is the single deadliest location on the entirety of the surface of the Earth.
00:22 More people have been unalived in this one spot than any other place.
00:27 And it's also a Catholic church, where it's like ordained by the Catholic church as like a sacred, sacred, safe place.
00:32 So there's a lot of really weird energy that goes into this.
00:35 When we signed up for our happy little tour, which is pretty much how you have to do the Colosseum,
00:38 especially if you want to get into kind of all the places, I knew the energy was going to be a lot.
00:43 However, this is my face upon entering the Colosseum.
00:46 This is within our first like five minutes in there.
00:48 Do you see how overwhelmed my face is?
00:50 It was so loud, not like distinguishably loud where there were like different ghosts speaking to me,
00:55 but just like loud, energetic noise from the centuries it's been in use.
01:00 Because it is still in use, just for a different purpose. You know what I mean?
01:02 As we were walking around in all of the different places, I kept having to be like, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you.
01:07 What are you saying to my husband?" like every five minutes.
01:09 And this is one of those like headphone tours, and I barely had my headphone in at all because it was just too much noise.
01:14 I ended up relying on people who had actually been there in the ancient past, channeling them in to point certain things out.
01:17 So like they pointed out this art thing up here.
01:19 One of them made me take a picture of one of their favorite views, even though I guess it looks way different now, of course.
01:23 But they were very clear about that.
01:24 Now once we left the Coliseum and made our way over to the Forum and to the Palatine Hill,
01:27 I started to really understand the weight of everything I had experienced in there.
01:30 Because the truth of it is, it was like the sound of centuries, but there was so much energetic activation happening.
01:35 Because there's so many layers and different types of energy.
01:37 I was just starting to piece through that when we made our way through this lovely little arch.
01:41 And we had like a bathroom break with the tour, and I went to go looking for the bathroom.
01:44 Totally got lost and got this view of the Coliseum, which helped me like digest the energy a lot more
01:48 and really understand what I was seeing through the layers of time and history.
01:51 However, this is where it starts to get very weird.
01:53 We went to the top of the Palatine Hill to kind of look down on the Forum.
01:56 This is us looking down on the Temple of the Vestal Virgins.
01:58 And this is when I start getting really yucky vibes.
02:00 I know what you're thinking. You were in the Coliseum. Of course you had yucky vibes.
02:03 Yes, I had yucky vibes. They were expected yucky vibes.
02:06 Now we're in the Forum, and I wasn't expecting to feel these vibes here.
02:10 Like I started getting waves and waves of like sadness and very, very scared energy.
02:16 And first I'm thinking like we're standing on where the emperors lived.
02:19 Like Palatine Hill is where the emperors used to live.
02:21 And I was trying to channel in different emperors and things like that.
02:23 I'm like, maybe it's that. Maybe that's what we're getting.
02:25 But then we walked our happy selves down to the Forum, and it only got worse.
02:28 At one point I literally turned to my husband. I was like, "Are you sad? Am I getting your energy?"
02:32 And he was like, "Not really."
02:34 Right about here is where I started to hear like songs, lamentation, sort of chanting coming through.
02:40 And I was like full goosebumps.
02:42 Until our tour guide brought us... hold on... to stand in front of this.
02:47 "What is this?" you're wondering. This very unimpressive pile of stone.
02:51 Why, it's a temple to Julius Caesar.
02:53 And our tour guide turns to us and goes,
02:55 "Welcome. You are standing in front of the Temple of Julius Caesar,
02:59 the place they brought Caesar after he had been unalive across town, on the Ides of March."
03:05 And guess what day it was? Ta-da! It was the Ides of March.
03:09 So of course I got yucky feelings.
03:11 Throughout the thousands of years of Roman history, people have lamented and mourned on this day,
03:16 and especially that initial day when Caesar was brought there,
03:19 the entire empire was thrown into an entire state of upheaval,
03:23 not knowing what the heck to do or how the heck to feel.
03:26 So sadness and fear? Yeah, that tracks.
03:28 Anyway, after that we went and channeled at the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, which you've seen here.
03:31 And here I am looking very distracted because I'm having like 16 conversations at the same time.
03:35 Still in the Temple of the Vestal Virgins.
03:36 We spent the rest of the day walking around Palantine Hill and channeling in different stuff
03:39 because I could not stand in the Forum under that energy anymore.
03:41 And I'm going back to channel more of the Colosseum in the Forum this next year,
03:44 not on the Ides of March.
03:45 If you want to come, there's a place on my page where you can do the this and you can join.
03:50 We'll channel our way through the ancient history of Rome and across Italy, and it's going to be incredible.
03:55 I know the super cool archway is on Palantine Hill, and this is the place where it says they think that Clevegula got unalive.
04:01 I actually think it's like one or two over based on my channeling.
04:04 However, the energy of this was so cool, and there was definitely some cool spirits in there,
04:06 and I needed to share it with you because it's super neat.
04:08 I'm sorry. Are you annoyed at me? What would you like me to tell?
04:13 No, you just typically don't understand no matter how many times I tell you about it.
04:17 Okay, but don't you want me to tell her?
04:20 Yeah. Why else would I be talking to you?
04:24 Okay. So what's the message exactly?
04:27 Humans always believe that everyone else is in charge of doing things
04:30 and that they are incapable of doing all of these things
04:33 because everyone else has told them what they can and cannot do.
04:36 Hmm.
04:37 But who is everyone else?
04:39 Everyone else isn't even sentient at this point in time.
04:41 It's just this random idea that humans have all collectively attached onto
04:45 to dictate their entire existence on this planet and disempower themselves completely.
04:49 Mm-hmm.
04:51 Like, simply imagine how much stronger all of you would be
04:54 if you realized there weren't actually any rules.
04:56 There was just a random series of long-held ancestral beliefs
05:00 that everyone has collectively decided are influencing you.
05:03 If you stopped letting them influence you, the world would be a way better place,
05:07 and we wouldn't have to do this for as long as we've been doing it.
05:09 Okay. Okay. Um, I got it. I'll try to translate that to her.
05:13 Like this, for example.
05:15 If she didn't believe that someone else had to tell her and give her permission
05:18 to actually talk to me and get this message, she would have heard it years ago.
05:22 I'm sorry. Are you actually annoyed at her about this?
05:25 No, I'm annoyed at people. For being people.
