Police have seized drugs, cash and weapons from 9 address in the beacon pouch east area following a crackdown on serious and organised crime. 00:04 Police have seized drugs, cash and weapons from nine addresses in the Beacon Lorch East
00:09 area, following a crackdown on serious and organised crime.
00:13 The joint operation alongside Gateshead Council was the biggest day of activity in the area
00:17 and it aims to clamp down on criminal activity including drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.
00:23 Ten people aged between 42 and 15 have been arrested.
00:26 Staff at the Tyne and Weir Fire and Rescue Service have been recognised nationally for
00:30 their work making sure children stay safe and out of trouble.
00:33 The Diversionary Activities Team work with schools and youth groups across the region
00:38 and have now been recognised by the government's matrix standard.
00:41 And finally, the Dragon Boat Race will be returning to the Tyne at the end of the month.
00:45 With over 250 entrants, this year's race is shaping up to be the biggest one yet, with
00:50 so many rowers taking part in the race down the Tyne.
