Arkansas Razorbacks wide receiver, returner Isaiah Sategna and running back AJ Green on offensive struggles in second half against BYU in shocking loss Saturday night.
Transcript
00:00 We tried to get things going again and we got a little bit of a tempo but.
00:04 We just kept making it was just too many mistakes on our end of the ball.
00:09 >> I mean, like AJ said, I feel like we made a lot of mistakes and football stuff
00:13 is always gonna go your way and today just didn't go our way.
00:17 They capitalize off our mistakes and we're really doing for that.
00:24 >> AJ, what did you see on it?
00:25 We haven't seen an explosive run play the first two games.
00:28 You got one right out the gate.
00:30 Just what did you see on that play?
00:33 >> I mean, we got some good blocks and this week we emphasize getting up to
00:38 the next level in the run game with our blocks.
00:40 And that's exactly what happened that second run and I would have been back for
00:44 it.
00:46 >> I know you had the long power return.
00:47 Just what did you see on that play?
00:48 How did that play unfold in front of you?
00:51 >> I mean, he out kicked his coverage and we knew all week that he was gonna do that.
00:55 So my guys blocked it up perfectly, man power, he had a great block and
01:00 all I had to do was run.

01:04 >> That was a tough loss, but you got four really tough games here.
01:07 None of them in Fayetteville coming up.
01:09 Just how tough was this one and how do you guys respond?
01:12 Do you think with this tough stretch, you'll have come back and
01:15 AJ can take that finish?
01:16 >> I mean, obviously, yeah, this game was tough.
01:20 But like I said, we made too many mistakes and
01:22 those are things we're gonna get to fixing as soon as we get out of here.
01:26 So I mean, these next few games are gonna be tough as well, but
01:30 we're not gonna make those same mistakes.
01:32 So we can still make it a good game for the next four games that we have.
01:38 >> Just take stuff week by week.
01:42 That's all we're focused on when I focus on the other teams right now.
01:46 And we just need to clean up mistakes and just play our brand of football.
01:49 >> I'm playing midfield.
01:53 How do you think that's on momentum?
01:56 I'm looking back on it cuz BYU ended up,
01:58 now they only got a field goal off that possession.
02:01 But they ended up outscoring y'all 17 to nothing.
02:03 You feel like a big momentum swing when they stop y'all there?
02:06 >> I mean, it was a good thing for them, but
02:10 I didn't really feel the momentum shift at that moment.
02:16 Because I felt like we were still playing super hard as a team.
02:21 And as soon as we lost the next drive from more mistakes,
02:26 then they went off and scored.
02:27 Then that's when I felt the momentum change.
02:29 >> I mean, it's never a good thing to not get a fourth down conversion.
02:36 And obviously, if we would have got that,
02:38 maybe things would have been different, but it's just part of the game.
02:41 >> How do you feel physically?
02:46 Did you think you had some more of a tank there in the fourth quarter?
02:50 >> I definitely did.
02:52 But I mean, we just had other looks,
02:55 like the defense was playing great on the run and we just had other plans.
03:01 I mean, we didn't really think about just running the ball.
03:06 We were just trying to get down the score at that point.
03:08 So that wasn't really anything that was running through my mind.
03:11 But I just wish we went down and won the game.
03:14 >> Again, your penalties were called on you two specifically,
03:18 but a lot of offensive penalties, negated big plays,
03:22 put you all pretty far behind the chains.
03:24 How tough was it to overcome those penalties?
03:26 >> It was tough for our offense, because once we were getting momentum and
03:32 getting our tempo and playing a path like we usually do, and
03:36 then a penalty would stop our momentum and we have to slow everything down just to
03:40 get set back up and move the ball back.
03:43 That just killed our momentum, like I said.
03:45 When we're able to just run the ball and get down, run the next play,
03:49 throw the ball out, get down, run the next play, it kills teams because
03:55 they never have enough time to get set up and know what's coming and
03:58 be prepared for it.
03:59 >> AJ, you were here last year when you won in Provo.
04:03 What were they doing differently this year on defense that was giving
04:06 them more problems?
04:10 >> I would say it was just, I feel like some of those players have more
04:14 experience now and they knew more about us.
04:20 I felt like they took us more serious than they did last year and
04:24 they came ready for the game.
04:25 >> I like that penalty question about if it was to overcome those.
04:31 >> I mean, I feel like penalties hurt us in the second half.
04:36 I mean, I felt like every time we had a big play, we got called back.
04:40 So we just gotta clean that up, move on and learn from it.
04:43 >> He's by nature a pretty positive guy.
04:47 I think what was his message to you all after the game?
04:50 >> I mean, we all knew we should have won that game.
04:53 And I feel like penalties is one of the things that kinda hurt us.
04:59 And he was just telling us we need to play smarter ball.
05:01 And we played hard, so we just gotta clean up our mistakes.
05:07 >> For either of you, it seemed like Luke has had a pretty big game.
05:11 Three out passes coming out, what did y'all think of his performance?
05:14 >> I think that's definitely gonna be a weapon that we need to tap in more on.
05:19 Because it's just gonna open up more for our passing game.
05:23 Cuz people are gonna actually have to cover a tight end,
05:26 which is not really something that's usually done a lot.
05:29 And like I said, it'll open up more for passing game and running game, really.
05:34 >> I mean, everybody on the team knows what Luke's capable of.
05:39 He just has to show it to the world right now.
05:41 We've seen him in practice, made some crazy catches.
05:44 And he's gonna have a big year this year.
