00:00 I'm meteorologist Tony Lovac in
00:01 Wells Maine here in Southeast Maine.
00:03 Lee has come and Lee has gone and
00:05 folks here are very happy with the
00:07 results not really dealing with
00:08 some significant impacts on that.
00:10 But still, though,
00:10 as we always like to say,
00:12 you hope for the best and prepare
00:13 for the worst and when we got here
00:15 on Friday folks were preparing for
00:17 the worst in the ways that they know
00:18 how barricading their homes from the
00:20 wind and possible storm surge that
00:21 was going to hit the seawall and
00:23 splash over a lot of the still with
00:25 fresh memories from the storms.
00:26 Back in December,
00:27 we talked to many of the residents
00:28 that are here on summer vacation.
00:30 Not really expecting to see
00:32 nor'easter type of storms this
00:33 early in the year,
00:34 but as we got here on Saturday,
00:36 it looked like a nor'easter you
00:38 would see in December minus the
00:40 snow and minus the cold.
00:41 Big bruising waves hitting the
00:44 seawall here in Wells.
00:45 It was funneling into traffic a little bit,
00:48 but really was more of a tourist site as
00:50 people were taking in the sights of the
00:53 waves here along the Seacoast during the
00:55 high tide early in the afternoon on Saturday.
00:58 As we got later in the day,
00:59 low tide kicked in and that really
01:01 translated to a treasure hunt and
01:03 really people just enjoying a beachy
01:05 evening as Lee moved on out.
01:06 The wind is still a little bit breezy,
01:09 but the sun coming out for a time and
01:11 folks out hunting seashells and
01:12 rocks along the seashore.
01:13 Even the seagulls getting in on
01:15 a little bit of that action.
01:16 Folks here in Southeast Maine.
01:18 Very happy that the impacts from
01:19 Lee were quite minimal and most of
01:21 them really just enjoying this last.
01:23 It's hard to say last official weekend of
01:25 summer, but a lot of people we talking
01:27 about for the summer.
01:28 Happy to have had the experience
01:30 and carrying away a lot more
01:32 memories of a very interesting
01:33 trip and a decent storm that folks
01:35 will remember mainly for the waves.
01:37 Reporting for Accuweather in Southeast Maine.
01:39 I'm meteorologist Tony law back.
