00:00 We are just gotten out of a pretty
00:01 hefty little hail storm.
00:02 We got a little bit of rain that's
00:03 come in on the backside of this,
00:04 which is a shame.
00:05 So I was going to give you a walk
00:06 and talk and show you some of the
00:07 big hail out there on the ground.
00:09 So you're just going to have to
00:09 settle for the video here.
00:10 We'll show that to you here.
00:12 This just fresh in.
00:12 This was moments ago.
00:14 We saw a hail up to tennis ball size.
00:16 You see some of that there in my hands.
00:18 That was enough to to wreck some
00:20 windshields, mine included,
00:22 as we were there on I-35
00:23 working our way in.
00:24 This is a pretty hefty hail.
00:26 Saw a lot of it in the ground,
00:29 actually in holes when it hit the ground.
00:31 And you see what kind of my
00:33 windshield looks like there.
00:34 These are some of the shots
00:34 they're panning across
00:36 of some of the shots that we took
00:37 as we were working our way in.
00:38 This kind of snuck up on us
00:40 here at the last second.
00:41 And unfortunately,
00:42 we were unable to make it in.
00:43 Several motorists there
00:44 taking shelter under an overpass.
00:46 Folks, please don't do that.
00:48 We beg of you.
00:48 Do not clog overpasses.
00:50 There were a lot of people
00:51 sitting on I-35
00:52 when this rolled through
00:52 because they were unable to get through
00:54 because people were parking
00:55 under the overpasses.
00:56 But some folks there
00:57 taking advantage of the truck stops.
00:59 That is much more acceptable.
01:00 Certainly wanted to go ahead
01:01 and keep that in mind.
01:02 This storm has moved off
01:03 to the northeast
01:04 and has done so fairly quickly.
01:05 We've got tornado
01:06 warnings on that storm.
01:08 Nothing confirmed with that so far.
01:09 We have had a few tornado
01:11 warnings scattered throughout the day.
01:12 This is another long day.
01:13 We were on tornadoes
01:14 yesterday by 1 o'clock.
01:16 We're seeing a very similar event,
01:17 a little bit more messy
01:18 down here so far.
01:20 I'm kind of curious to see
01:21 how that's going to affect
01:21 the overall evolution of today.
01:23 We are under a PDS,
01:25 potentially dangerous situation.
01:27 Tornado watch,
01:27 a elevated layer of tornado
01:29 watch here across central Oklahoma,
01:32 and that's going to extend
01:33 into northeast Oklahoma
01:34 and southeast Kansas as well.
01:35 So we are expecting
01:36 quite an active day again.
01:38 It's been a little bit
01:39 of a messy start so far.
01:40 A lot of storms have kind of happened
01:42 here on the western
01:42 northwestern parts of Oklahoma.
01:44 So really, our focus, Melissa,
01:46 is going to be a little bit further south.
01:48 We probably will start to sneak south
01:49 toward the I-40 area
01:51 and get west of Oklahoma City
01:52 to watch these storms
01:53 as they move out of southwest
01:54 Oklahoma as well as Texas.
01:56 And those are going to be
01:57 the storms we're going to probably track.
01:59 Those, I think, are going to pose
02:00 the biggest threat for tornadoes
02:01 as we go later in the afternoon.
02:03 Again, up here,
02:04 it's been kind of a messy situation.
02:06 Obviously, some very, very large hail.
02:07 You saw that in the video.
02:08 2.5 inches is what I measured here.
02:11 That was after it gave
02:13 my windshield a little kiss.
02:14 So we are already seeing
02:15 some impactful storms in the region.
02:17 We expect those to continue again.
02:19 That's a PDS tornado watch in effect.
02:21 We'll see those tornado watches
02:22 lining up throughout
02:22 the rest of the day today.
02:23 So again, expecting another busy day
02:25 and this is going to go
02:26 late into the night
02:27 as we get further east
02:29 into Oklahoma and Kansas
02:30 and probably into Missouri as well.
02:32 All right, meteorologist Tony Laubach
02:33 making the trip from Nebraska
02:35 and Iowa south to Oklahoma
02:38 for the severe weather.
