04:29 You got your sophomore album coming,
04:31 and I feel like your name has been around so long,
04:33 it's crazy that this is only your second offering.
04:35 So tell me, how's it feel to put your second piece of work out?
04:37 - I'm very excited about it.
04:39 It's really a story of redemption and triumph
04:43 and spirituality and love and pain and struggle,
04:48 human experience.
04:49 That's the place I write from.
04:51 That's what I aim to communicate and to convey.
04:54 And I'm just so excited to open that conversation
04:58 with any and everyone who listens to this album.
05:01 - You've got some great collaborators,
05:03 G-Eazy, Common, Ty Dolla Sign, Love Ty.
05:06 So how do you go about deciding
05:07 who you want to bring onto a project?
05:09 - I think first and foremost,
05:10 it's like the relationship as a human being,
05:14 as a man with those brothers in particular.
05:16 Like those are people that I have long standing
05:19 personal relationships with.
05:20 So as I'm creating music and I hear a voice
05:24 to do something, Common, for example,
05:26 he's my favorite MC since being a little kid.
05:29 When I made this song called "South Side Story"
05:31 that is featuring Common,
05:33 immediately I knew it'd be crazy to have his voice on here
05:38 and his paintbrush, his texture.
05:41 - It had to be crazy to have you in the studio
05:42 with Common, right?
05:43 Like were you geeking out a little bit?
05:44 - I was definitely geeking out, man.
05:45 Yo, Common came in the studio,
05:46 he's sitting just like I'm sitting with you.
05:48 He broke out the sage.
05:50 - Oh, of course, the set the vibe.
05:52 - Sage and the jointed with the energy.
05:54 That's something I love a lot about him as an artist
05:57 is like the intention in what he does.
06:01 You know, it's a deeply spiritual process.
