00:00 Minecraft's Drowned Mob used to look like this.
00:02 And did you know creepers used to camouflage?
00:04 And these are 47 Minecraft Mob Facts
00:06 you possibly didn't know.
00:08 When the Drowned was first added to Minecraft,
00:09 it looked a lot different.
00:10 Since the original concept for the Drowned Mob
00:13 had it looking like a half-skeleton, half-zombie mix,
00:16 which is not only a lot creepier,
00:17 but it also blends in pretty well
00:19 with the dirt that you see at the bottom of the riverbed.
00:21 Though I suppose it makes sense why it was changed,
00:23 'cause this feels a little too gory for Minecraft.
00:25 But it worked for the zombie pigmen, so who's to say?
00:28 As of the snapshots for 1.19,
00:30 we can now have three players riding in a boat.
00:32 Since if you get the new camel mob
00:34 inside of one of these boats,
00:35 then you can have one of your friends steer,
00:37 and then you and another friend held in onto the back.
00:39 And at that point, it technically seats four,
00:41 'cause the camel gets to come along as well.
00:43 And then if you get some parrots on your shoulders,
00:45 then I guess even more friends
00:46 could come along for the journey.
00:47 Unlike zombies, the husk can't transform
00:49 into the Drowned Mob, but it can become a zombie.
00:51 So by having a husk underwater for 30 seconds,
00:54 it'll eventually turn into a zombie.
00:56 And then after an additional 30 seconds,
00:57 that same zombie will now be a drowned.
00:59 Meaning if you've got a minute to spare,
01:01 you've got yourself a drowned.
01:02 While playing in peaceful mode,
01:03 you won't see a lot of undead mobs,
01:05 but two are still possible.
01:06 Those being the zombie horse and the skeleton horse mobs.
01:09 However, to get these in the mode,
01:11 you'd have to use the summon command.
01:12 And at that point, is it even worth saying
01:13 that these exist in peaceful mode?
01:15 Because without operator commands, they really don't.
01:17 You might not notice it now,
01:19 but when creepers were first added to Minecraft,
01:21 they were able to camouflage.
01:22 And a lot of this was because
01:23 the original creeper texture
01:25 actually matched the alpha grass texture
01:27 that we can see here.
01:28 So when standing next to the standard foliage,
01:30 these creepy mobs really did fade into the background.
01:32 And they made it even tougher
01:33 to try and pick one of these out during the early version.
01:36 But as the textures got updated
01:37 and the grass color maps changed,
01:38 creepers stayed the same.
01:39 And unfortunately for them,
01:41 now they stick out like a sore thumb.
01:42 - In the experimental snapshots for 1.20,
01:44 typing in the command to summon a bat would get you this.
01:47 The bat will be upside down, even while floating in the air.
01:50 And surprisingly, this odd behavior
01:51 causes the mob to glitch out quite a bit,
01:53 making bats even more useless than they already were.
01:56 - If you're able to get up close and personal
01:57 to a camel's nose,
01:58 you'll notice that when you look at it dead on,
02:00 it actually seems to match the texture of a wither skull.
02:03 Which with Minecraft's resolution,
02:04 it's tough to tell if this was intentional
02:06 or just about the only way
02:07 that you could make a camel's nose look right.
02:09 But intentional or not, it's still a fun Easter egg.
02:11 The rascal and the tough golem
02:13 might not have won the mob vote,
02:14 but they are still in Minecraft.
02:16 Because in Bedrock Edition,
02:17 there was a special free skin pack that was added in
02:20 that would let you choose between different clothings
02:21 for the 12 different skin,
02:23 including the rascal, the sniffer, and the tough golem.
02:25 So it's a far cry from the mobs actually being in the game,
02:28 but it's a lot better
02:29 than some of the other mob vote losers got.
02:31 So I guess you take what you get.
02:32 If you listen closely to this sound that the fox makes,
02:35 you'll notice that when the fox screeches,
02:37 the first and third sound that it plays
02:39 are actually the same.
02:40 But the third sound effect is reversed with a lower pitch.
02:42 And funnier still,
02:43 the fox sounds actually never came from a real fox.
02:46 They're just heavily edited sounds
02:47 combined from dogs and cats.
02:49 - Have you ever seen a fox with a beard?
02:51 Well, don't say I didn't warn you.
02:52 But if you were to get your fox
02:53 to hold a wither skull in its mouth,
02:55 then you'll notice that it looks like the fox has a beard.
02:57 Or if that's not for you,
02:58 then get it to hold a skulk sensor,
03:00 and that'll look like a goatee.
03:01 - If we push this cat off a cliff, nothing happens.
03:04 And thankfully so, otherwise it'd be a murderer.
03:06 But the idea behind this is that cats
03:07 tend to land on their feet.
03:08 And that'd be why cats in Minecraft
03:10 not only don't take fall damage,
03:12 but even if they were to fall into a dripstone spike,
03:14 they're still not gonna get hurt,
03:15 which is a pretty sweet deal.
03:17 It's hard to say I'm not jealous.
03:18 - In 1.19, we have chickens that lay eggs.
03:20 And in Minecraft 2.0, we've got chickens that lay diamonds.
03:23 That's no joke, although it was meant to be.
03:25 Back in April Fools 2013,
03:27 Mojang added this blue chicken to their fake snapshot
03:30 that could lay diamonds and lapis lazuli.
03:31 Which sounds great, but be careful
03:33 since these also had a tendency to explode.
03:36 - At this point, everyone's familiar
03:37 with the rarest mob in Minecraft.
03:39 But this mob can also be very rare.
03:40 It's in that there's only a rare chance
03:42 that an arctic fox even spawns in a snowy tiger biome.
03:45 And then add onto that another 5% chance
03:47 of that fox being a baby variant.
03:49 And it gets to the point where if you find one,
03:50 buy a lottery ticket.
03:52 Your luck's pretty good.
03:53 - You can kill this whole batch of zombified piglins
03:55 without any of them getting angry.
03:56 You just need to be precise.
03:58 Since if you were to kill this mob in one hit,
04:00 then it doesn't have the chance to update
04:01 the universal aggression tag on the other monsters.
04:04 That means with a strong enough weapon and a critical hit,
04:06 you don't have to worry about upsetting the pack
04:08 when you pick off a few.
04:09 - This is an iron golem, and this is the love golem.
04:11 If you put together four iron blocks
04:13 and a carved pumpkin on top,
04:14 you'll of course get the love golem.
04:16 Exclusively found in the love and hugs update,
04:18 this special mob is meant to be a manifestation
04:20 of the villagers' love.
04:21 And that's probably the reason why it's passive
04:23 toward any players or even hostile mobs.
04:25 Which, yeah, does mean that it doesn't do much.
04:27 But in fairness, we can't attack mobs
04:29 in this joke update either, so at least it's not alone.
04:32 - It's impossible to turn a squid upside down
04:34 with a dinnerbone name tag.
04:35 Now don't be mistaken, you can still name a squid
04:37 dinnerbone or grum, but you won't see any visual difference.
04:40 Even Mojang doesn't know which way's the right way up
04:42 for this mob.
04:43 It's just that silly.
04:44 - The warden's a strong mob, but just how strong is it?
04:46 Well, it's so strong that if you were to add up
04:48 the health of the ender dragon and the wither combined,
04:51 that's how many hearts the warden has.
04:53 Folks, that's 250 hearts of health for this one warden.
04:56 So you remember the fact that the wither on bedrock
04:58 has 300 hearts.
05:00 And sorry to any bedrock players out there,
05:02 that just sounds terrible to deal with.
05:03 If you look closely at certain villagers' heads,
05:06 you'll notice they might be wearing some pretty weird hats.
05:08 Like the librarian villager, for instance,
05:10 which, while it might look like a fez,
05:12 actually is a book when you look at it from the right angle.
05:14 And while it might look like the swamp villager
05:16 has a bonnet on or something like that,
05:17 it's actually just a lily pad just splayed
05:19 over the top of their head,
05:20 which honestly makes me jealous.
05:21 I wish I could wear these as well.
05:23 And if you're jealous of their style, don't worry.
05:25 With the slash item replace command,
05:26 you can also wear those kind of books as hats as well.
05:29 - This is an elder guardian,
05:30 and this is the elder guardian ghost.
05:32 Exclusive just to Bedrock Edition,
05:34 this secret mob can only be spawned in
05:36 using the summon command.
05:37 But what does it do?
05:38 Well, clearly not much.
05:39 It doesn't even have a texture.
05:40 And all that you're able to see is its shadow.
05:42 Eerie.
05:43 - In the April Fool's snapshot
05:44 for the one block at a time update,
05:46 if you were to summon an iron golem
05:47 using this special name,
05:49 then you'd notice that Billy Belong
05:50 has its arms permanently extended into the air,
05:53 which is actually a reference to one of the developers
05:55 that works on Minecraft,
05:56 which is an odd way to be memorialized,
05:58 but it's not like the dinner bone name tag
05:59 makes any more sense anyway.
06:01 Even though the Allay made it into Minecraft
06:03 during the Wild Update,
06:04 it was originally planned all the way back
06:05 for the Nether Update.
06:06 Although back then it would have been called the Wisp,
06:08 and it would have had a much different look.
06:10 Even when it was renamed to the Allay
06:11 and it was planned to be added in,
06:12 there could have been different colors
06:14 that we saw for the mob,
06:15 which I'll say I'm disappointed that we didn't see.
06:17 Well, you can find a yellow Allay
06:18 that shows up in the Minecraft Legends trailer,
06:20 so I guess the idea is still there.
06:22 - Hopefully you've never let all the villagers
06:24 die during a raid,
06:25 but if you did, here's what you'd see.
06:26 After all the villagers are gone
06:27 or the beds in the village are destroyed,
06:29 the raiding vindicators will celebrate their victory
06:32 by laughing and then raising their arms into the air,
06:34 which really adds insult to injury.
06:36 So to keep your village and your ego intact,
06:38 just stay away if you have the bad omen effect.
06:40 - Obviously piglins don't exist,
06:42 but their sound effects do come from a special kind
06:44 of Swedish pig, the Lindoratsvin,
06:46 which when you read that out loud,
06:47 it's easy to see why they went with the name piglin.
06:49 Even with Google Translate,
06:51 I'm not entirely sure how to say that one.
06:52 This Minecraft mob has no AI,
06:54 and the reason for that is because that's your job.
06:57 You see, in the education edition for Minecraft,
06:59 this robot called the Agent is a mob
07:01 that's specifically designed to teach players how to code.
07:03 And with that, you can teach this mob
07:05 to do different things like harvest your crops,
07:06 place blocks, and a whole number of other things,
07:09 which is a lot cooler
07:10 than just looking at Microsoft Visual Studio.
07:12 So I'll take that trade off.
07:13 - You can't shear a baby sheep,
07:15 but with a command you can summon a baby that's been sheared
07:18 and it looks pretty cursed.
07:19 Plus it really shows how long the sheep's head is
07:21 under all that wool.
07:22 And no amount of wool blocks is worth having to look
07:24 at this sad sight.
07:25 - Did you know creepers are aliens?
07:27 Well, not all of them, but this one certainly is.
07:29 Since thanks to an experiment done
07:31 by the University of Southampton,
07:32 students were able to send personal belongings into space.
07:35 And one of those students sent a creeper.
07:37 So when you look up into space,
07:38 just know that somewhere out there,
07:40 there was a creeper.
07:40 And thankfully it didn't explode on the way out.
07:43 Otherwise that wouldn't be as fun of a fact.
07:44 - The reason pirates dance when you play a music disc
07:46 is because of the party emojis animation,
07:48 which itself is based on this iconic gif
07:51 of a kakapo or owl parrot dancing.
07:53 This mob still isn't in Minecraft,
07:55 but back when the creator was developing it,
07:56 he talked about adding in a special red dragon
07:58 that could exist outside of the end.
08:00 And while it's unclear if this mob will be added in
08:02 since the creator's departure in 2014,
08:04 Jem has mentioned that if it were to be added,
08:06 it would be tied to the dragon egg you get
08:08 from the current dragon fight.
08:09 The reason that wandering traders were added to Minecraft
08:12 was because of inspiration from other various RPGs.
08:15 And one of the game's designers even confirms this
08:17 in the article, "Meet the Wandering Trader,"
08:19 which would be why you could find
08:20 these incredibly dangerous places,
08:22 since they're meant to help offer you
08:23 some kind of healing item like they do in the RPGs.
08:26 Although it's hard to say that their items
08:27 are nearly as desirable as the ones found in the other games.
08:30 - If you ever see a chicken in the ocean,
08:32 count yourself lucky,
08:33 since there's a very small chance of a drowned mob
08:35 being able to spawn on the back of a chicken
08:37 like a baby zombie does.
08:38 And besides, it's obvious they were forced there.
08:40 It doesn't seem that the chicken
08:42 likes the water very much anyway.
08:43 - In "Bad Rock Edition," it's possible to keep parrots
08:45 on your shoulder when you take flight with an elytra.
08:48 Or rather, I should say,
08:49 you're keeping them around where your shoulders should be,
08:51 since when you look at it from this angle,
08:52 it really just looks like they're hovering in place,
08:55 which is a bit peculiar,
08:56 but they're at least more loyal
08:57 than the ones in "Job Edition,"
08:58 who bail on you when you start to get any kind of speed.
09:01 This villager was never seen in Minecraft,
09:03 but if you go within the game's files,
09:04 there sure enough is an unused texture
09:06 for the angry villager mob,
09:08 featuring red eyes and angry eyebrows.
09:10 And even though villagers can still get mad in the game
09:12 if you were to punch them,
09:13 even with all those particles,
09:14 it's still not nearly as intimidating as one of these.
09:17 What would you think is the strongest mob in Minecraft?
09:19 Well, it might seem like the warden,
09:20 considering that it only takes three hits to kill you
09:22 in full netherite enchanted armor.
09:24 The crown for this would actually go to a charged creeper.
09:26 Considering that on hard difficulties,
09:28 this can do 127 damage.
09:30 And for that much,
09:31 you probably wanna have a good set of blast protection armor,
09:33 or at least a totem of undying as a backup call.
09:35 - The bee was supposed to be much, much smaller.
09:37 As shown in this official video put out by Mojang,
09:40 an early design for the bee
09:41 would have had it closer in size to the baby turtle,
09:44 but that's still more appealing than its first design.
09:46 And when you can't tell if you're looking at the bee's front
09:48 or its rear, you know you've gotta change the look.
09:50 - This isn't a villager,
09:51 but I wouldn't blame you if you thought so.
09:53 But rather, this mob's called the NPC,
09:55 and it only exists within the education edition.
09:57 And while these do share a lot of visual similarities
09:59 to the villager,
10:00 they're actually a mob that exists only for map makers
10:02 to make special qualifications,
10:04 like having text pop-ups or even buttons to press
10:06 that summon different commands.
10:07 It's pretty cool, but if you don't add those,
10:09 they have no AI and basically useless.
10:11 - If you're running away from a piglin,
10:12 don't bother closing that door.
10:14 Since shocking as it may be,
10:15 piglins are actually smart enough to open up doors.
10:18 There aren't even doors that spawn in the nether.
10:19 How did they learn to do that?
10:21 So for your safety, stick to trap doors and fence gates.
10:24 They can't figure those out yet.
10:25 - In current versions of Minecraft,
10:26 there's no way for the Ender Dragon to defeat the Warden.
10:29 And that makes the biggest boss in Minecraft
10:31 really feel like a lightweight,
10:32 especially considering that with enough Wardens,
10:34 you were once able to blast the Ender Dragon
10:36 completely off course,
10:38 making the final boss of Minecraft
10:39 feel a lot more like an afterthought.
10:41 Although goats in Minecraft can tend to break off
10:43 their horns when they run into a wall,
10:44 that's not actually based on anything in real life,
10:46 because the truth is that goats' horns
10:48 are actually a part of the animal's skull.
10:50 So if they were to break off,
10:51 the goat would have bigger problems.
10:53 And really this behavior in Minecraft
10:54 much more closely resembles a deer with its antlers.
10:57 - If you put a camel inside of a mine cart,
10:59 it will start playing its running animation indefinitely,
11:01 which might make this the cheapest
11:02 perpetual motion machine to make.
11:04 It's at least the weirdest one I've seen,
11:06 but if you have a saddle, you can also join in on the fun.
11:08 So at least it's not exclusionary.
11:10 - This isn't Steve,
11:11 but actually this is the unused human mob from Minecraft.
11:14 Back in early developments of the game,
11:16 there did exist a hostile mob
11:17 that looked identical to Steve.
11:19 And even though they were hostile,
11:20 it's hard to say that they were intimidating,
11:21 considering that spawning these in
11:23 would just cause them to move around all janky.
11:25 And when you watch that old footage,
11:26 I think it's plenty clear to see
11:27 why they removed them from the game.
11:29 - In the past, it was possible to damage
11:30 the Ender Dragon with snowballs,
11:32 which makes sense for the Blaze,
11:33 but it's a lot weirder to see this happen
11:35 against the Dragon.
11:36 And Mojang agreed, since as of snapshot 15w32a,
11:39 the Dragon no longer takes damage from snowballs.
11:42 But don't worry, they're still worth keeping around
11:44 for taking out the End Crystals.
11:45 - All right, pop quiz.
11:46 Have you ever heard of the Minecraft mob, the Spark?
11:48 If you haven't, then you probably haven't looked
11:50 at the game's files, considering that only there
11:52 is the Shulker's Bullet called the Spark.
11:54 But other than that, how would you even know this?
11:56 It's not like it spawns with a name tag or anything,
11:58 but there you go.
11:59 Now you got something for your next Minecraft trivia night.
12:01 - The Ender Dragon doesn't breathe fire,
12:03 but it does have fire aspect.
12:04 And you'll see that if you try to shoot a Perched Dragon
12:07 with a bow and arrow, this time,
12:08 instead of your arrows colliding, they'll just bounce off.
12:10 And just in case having your arrows bounce off
12:12 wasn't enough of a reason to stop,
12:14 the fire really makes it obvious to cut it out.
12:16 - Before horses were added to Minecraft, there were horses.
12:19 Notice the quotation marks, because these special mobs
12:22 were only in the Java edition snapshots
12:24 for the April Fool's update.
12:25 And they were really just retextured cows and pigs,
12:28 which did make for a good joke.
12:29 But shortly after, Mojang worked with Dr. Jark
12:31 to add in proper horses into the game.
12:33 And thankfully they didn't look like this.
12:35 - Why is this wolf's tail spinning?
12:37 It's not a glitch, but instead this is because
12:39 the wolf's tail is linked to its health.
12:41 So low health equals a lower tail,
12:43 but the opposite also applied.
12:44 So if you use commands to artificially increase
12:46 the wolf's health, it'll start spinning like this.
12:49 And thankfully it doesn't spin fast enough
12:50 for the wolf to up and fly away.
12:52 Then we'd have a real problem on our hands.
12:54 - Using this command, we're able to summon in
12:56 a special wolf called Mars, which is a mob so rare,
12:59 it only exists in the April Fool's version
13:01 of the one block at a time update.
13:03 But much like the special name tag
13:04 for the rabbit variant named Toast,
13:06 this gives you a different colored variant
13:07 on the standard wolf skin.
13:09 And hopefully this hints at getting different breeds
13:10 of wolves added into the future.
13:12 It wouldn't be the first time they took a feature
13:13 from April Fool's and made it official.
13:15 Did you know there could have been a fourth frog variant?
13:17 Because looking at concept art for the frog
13:19 before it was added in, there did exist a special blue frog
13:22 that could have been added as well.
13:24 Which if you ask me is a huge missed opportunity
13:26 for not adding this in.
13:27 At the very least, it could have given us another color
13:29 of frog light, which it's always nice
13:30 to have another building block.
13:31 But really, even if this frog didn't get added in,
13:33 at least all the ones that we have look so much better
13:36 than the original frog texture.
13:37 Ugh, that one's hideous.
13:39 And with that folks, YouTube thinks
13:40 that you might like this video.
13:41 So see if they're right and have a good one.
