Doncaster Free Press Daily Bulletin with Stephanie Bateman - Wednesday, September 13, 2023
Transcript
00:00 Good morning, it's Steph Bateman at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Wednesday, September the 13th.
00:04 Just bringing you our headlines this morning. We put a couple of stories out yesterday regarding
00:11 a Doncaster City Centre restaurant that suddenly closed its doors without announcing it first.
00:19 Basically, they've now put out a statement to let all their customers know that the reason behind
00:25 the closure was rising operational costs like many places and a declining footfall,
00:32 which is really, really sad to see. It's sort of the empty premises there, but they are going to
00:37 continue with their Rotherham business, which is positive news. So that's been proving quite
00:44 popular on our website in the last 24 hours. Then also we have a story regarding next week's
00:52 meeting of Doncaster Council, where the cabinet there are to be told that the
00:58 Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which obviously we know closed, is still a viable proposition.
01:08 Councillors will hear how many jobs it will create if it was to reopen, not just at the
01:16 airport, but across the region and why the council are putting all their efforts into getting those
01:24 doors open again. I'm sure a lot of our readers really want that to happen. Certainly I do.
01:31 Then our usual court roundup went live this morning on Facebook. The latest convictions
01:38 from the Doncaster Magistrates Court. A number of people up with various convictions.
01:46 And so you can read all about that as well. So for those stories and for anything else
01:52 which is happening in Doncaster today, just visit our website, which is www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk
01:59 or of course we will be posted on Facebook throughout the day too. Have a great Wednesday.
