00:00 So my name's Tanya, I joined Hunted Wildlife about six weeks ago.
00:06 I, when I joined I said to them that I had a real concern about the turtles here at,
00:13 in Lake Macquarie.
00:15 We had a lot of turtles come into care that had fishing line injuries and they were,
00:21 every turtle from here has a fishing line injury.
00:24 When it comes in we can rarely save them from fishing line.
00:29 The problem's quite significant, they are an endangered animal.
00:33 We are really, really fortunate to actually have a population of green sea turtles here in the lake.
00:38 And so I'm on a bit of a mission to raise awareness of what to do if you actually cook a turtle.
00:47 Also want people to recycle their line, not leave it lying around here.
00:52 There's a great company that's local that incorporates all this fishing line into furniture they make.
00:59 And they'll take all the fishing line we can give them.
01:03 So, you know, I just am trying to raise awareness.
01:08 You're not in trouble if you cook a turtle, there's no fine.
01:11 But the turtle's in a lot of trouble so we're asking people to reel them in.
01:16 And then call us, we'll come and rescue them, look after them, make sure that they're alright.
01:24 And then relocate them a long way from here.
01:28 So that's what I'm about.
