00:00 It didn't look like us.
00:01 You know, I feel like that.
00:03 We were a team that continued to push through anything,
00:06 no matter the score, no matter the situation.
00:08 And it didn't look like that today.
00:10 So most definitely, gotta go back in the building
00:11 and get back to it.
00:12 - Can you put your finger on why you don't think
00:14 you guys were yourselves today?
00:16 - Honestly, I don't know, man.
00:18 Yeah, I don't know.
00:19 - Is that the most frustrating part,
00:20 that you can't figure out just why you guys were flat?
00:23 - Yeah, I would say so, most definitely.
00:25 Defensive side, I feel like we had some good things
00:27 going on, but you gotta tackle these big backs, man.
00:30 You have to most definitely be on your cues
00:32 and your P's, man, because they scored away, it's over with.
00:36 - Did it ever feel like you had any momentum today?
00:39 - Yeah, I feel like we did for a little minute,
00:40 and then it just kinda got away from us,
00:42 and they just kept building on top of it
00:43 whenever we grabbed the bat.
00:45 - How do you feel like you handled Watson in the past game?
00:48 - I feel like we did pretty good, you know?
00:50 Of course, it was raining and everything,
00:51 but most definitely still got the ball out.
00:54 I feel like we had some tight covers,
00:55 but we could be a little tighter.
00:57 - On defense, what changes in these elements?
01:00 Everyone's gonna talk about holding onto the ball
01:02 and the offense, but what changes for you guys?
01:05 - Honestly, man, wrapping up.
01:06 It's a lot harder to tackle when they're wet,
01:09 they're slipping off you and everything,
01:10 and wrap up, everybody get to the ball.
01:11 You know, you got big backs.
01:13 You got Ford back there,
01:14 and you got the number one back in the league,
01:16 so most definitely bring the hats to him.
01:18 - We all understand that slow starts don't derail a season.
01:20 I mean, you guys started 0-2 last year,
01:22 went to the AFC Championship,
01:23 but when you start again,
01:24 a second straight year with a loss,
01:25 how frustrating is that for this room?
01:28 - I'd say it's honestly very frustrating,
01:30 and I say just for me,
01:31 because I didn't have the opportunity
01:33 to have that first game last year,
01:34 and then I have the opportunity this year,
01:36 and it still happens.
01:37 So we gotta get back in the lab, man,
01:39 most definitely, and get something going.
01:41 - What has to change most next week for this team
01:43 to get back to playing the way you know how?
01:45 - Play big football.
01:46 I don't feel like there's more, honestly, to say.
01:48 Get back to us, the team that the world knows,
01:52 and play comfortable.
01:53 - You know, we were able to get two turnovers,
01:55 but we gotta do more.
01:57 Our offense is struggling,
01:57 we gotta get out there and do more for 'em,
01:59 get 'em the ball, get 'em things going.
02:00 So I think that falls on us just as much as anybody.
02:03 - Thanks, D.J., appreciate it.
02:04 - Did you pretty much contain Watson as much as you could?
02:07 I mean, did you feel like you did
02:09 as well as you could against him?
02:11 - I felt like we could've done better.
02:13 I feel like we will do better, I think.
02:15 In the first game,
02:16 everybody was trying to figure each other out,
02:18 just kinda what's gonna happen.
02:19 He made some plays, broke some tackles,
02:21 but I think he had that one big run on that pool
02:25 in the first half, that was tough,
02:27 just 'cause of what the call we did there.
02:28 But other than that, no, I didn't think it was crazy.
02:31 - Right. - Yeah.
02:32 - I know there's been a lot of back and forth
02:36 regarding the comments on the Elf logo and stuff,
02:37 but at any point during the game,
02:39 did you feel that set of eyes on that logo
02:41 just staring at you?
02:43 - No, I didn't even know it was in the middle.
02:45 I just found out, literally,
02:47 when they were talking about that,
02:48 that that was in the middle of the field.
02:50 I had no idea, 'cause that was,
02:51 I really wanna ask, why is it Elf?
02:55 But it's not important to me, it's whatever.
02:57 - When you have a game like this,
02:58 does it just put it behind you and move on?
03:00 Or as a leader on this team,
03:01 do you think about what you wanna say,
03:03 what you wanna address the team about?
03:05 - I think everybody wants to say,
03:07 just put it behind you and move on.
03:08 But it's a division game, it's in St. Robert,
03:10 there's pride in it, and we care.
03:12 We care as a people.
03:14 I think it's hard to do that.
03:15 Any competitor can't just go,
03:17 well, you just played a game 30 minutes ago,
03:18 no way you can go put it behind you right now.
03:20 So everybody's pretty hot about it.
03:22 And if you aren't, then you gotta check yourself
03:25 in the mirror and look at it yourself
03:27 and really figure out what you got going on, doing here.
03:29 So I think that a lot of guys are upset,
03:31 and as they should be.
03:32 But it's not the end of the world,
03:34 we gotta go back and do our thing.
03:35 Gotta go back and correct it, be grown men,
03:37 look yourself in the mirror.
03:38 Everybody, everybody is wanting to be together.
03:40 - What was the mindset at halftime?
03:42 Obviously, you guys hadn't played your best ball,
03:44 but you were still in the game.
03:45 - Come out, get a stop, go down to score.
03:47 And that was it.
03:49 Just get our ball rolling.
03:50 We've been in those type of situations before
03:52 where we've had to do our thing.
03:53 And I think that was the whole mindset.
03:55 And I don't think that really changed.
03:57 I think that's our mindset.
03:58 We've been behind before multiple times.
04:01 Worse than that situation.
04:02 So we always feel like we can get ourself out of the hole,
04:04 we just couldn't get it done today.
04:05 - How surprising is it?
04:07 I mean, it had to be the last thing on your mind
04:09 that you'd come up here and compete like that, I would think.
04:12 - Yeah, I don't think you'd think about it.
04:14 I don't think, losing never crosses my mind
04:16 like before the game.
04:17 So I've never had a game before the game,
04:20 I'm like, oh, we might go.
04:21 So it's not like, it's gonna be surprising anytime we lose.
04:24 And so, fortunately, I don't see us losing much.
04:27 And this is just one of those ones.
04:29 We gotta go get it.
