Cheap Minecraft Build Hacks
Transcript
00:00 Instead of stairs for your roof, use walls instead.
00:02 And instead of an aquarium,
00:03 just put your fish in a glass block like so.
00:05 And these are 37 cheap Minecraft build hacks.
00:08 And hey, the YouTube analytics god bet me
00:10 that you can't hit subscribe before I hit the ground.
00:12 So if you wanna prove them wrong,
00:13 land on that red sub button below.
00:15 It's free and it helps out a ton.
00:17 We might have built this out of mud,
00:18 but these aren't mud blocks.
00:20 Rather, by using brown mushroom blocks like this,
00:22 we can mix it in as something of a smooth mud texture.
00:25 And honestly, seeing this proof of concept,
00:26 I'm amazed that smooth mud wasn't added in
00:28 with the rest of the textures.
00:29 Because seeing this, it really does look nice.
00:32 If you're planting sugar cane next to your crops,
00:34 it doesn't always blend well.
00:35 But if you mix in pozzle next to your farmland,
00:37 that texture will blend a lot nicer
00:39 when you're placing it next to the water source.
00:40 And that way we don't have that ugly dehydrated dirt look
00:43 distracting from what could have been a really pretty farm.
00:45 And in my eyes, I'm glad this fixes that.
00:47 When you're in a hot climate
00:48 like the desert of the Badlands biome,
00:50 oak leaves really change their color.
00:51 But that'll let us make them into tumbleweeds instead.
00:53 Since if you were to just tuck a couple of these
00:55 onto the ground, they do match pretty nicely
00:57 with the dead bushes that we already got.
00:59 And then you could use something like birch leaves
01:00 or azalea leaves to match the actual texture
01:02 that you're going for,
01:03 giving you all the plants that you wanted, dead or alive.
01:06 If we were to tuck this birch trapdoor into the corner,
01:08 then you'll notice that the white inside of the texture
01:10 makes it into a pretty great bed for your dog or your cat.
01:12 And at that point, just add in an item frame
01:14 with some food nearby.
01:15 And I think this will make for the perfect spot
01:16 for your pet pal to hang out.
01:18 Instead of a torch this size,
01:19 why not try the super-sized one?
01:21 With the same materials that we'd use
01:22 to craft a regular torch,
01:23 we can make ourselves one of these campfire mega torches.
01:26 And then if we add around signs around the perimeter,
01:28 you've got something that's ready to be set up
01:30 at your next base.
01:31 So if you're looking for a design
01:32 that's not gonna break the bank,
01:33 but also looks like you actually care about your build,
01:35 I think this is a happy medium.
01:37 By just mixing a couple of crimson planks
01:38 into the inside of a trapdoor barrel like so,
01:41 we can make it look like we have
01:42 our very own grape stomping barrel,
01:44 which is not only useful for your next farm,
01:46 but it might come in handy if you need any grapes
01:48 at your next lemonade stand.
01:49 And honestly, for how cheap this is to build,
01:51 I don't see any reason not to put this
01:52 next to your next vineyard.
01:53 I mean, it's at least easier to come by
01:55 than the purple coral that people use.
01:56 I think that's a definite plus.
01:58 From afar, these might look like sea pickles,
02:00 but zoom in close, and it turns out
02:01 that we actually use candles in the same place.
02:03 But as you can see, these do work pretty well
02:05 as the version of our own dead sea pickle.
02:07 So if your aquarium happened to spring a leak
02:09 and kill all of your coral,
02:10 I think this is a nice touch to add in as well,
02:12 especially considering we can place as many candles
02:14 in a one block space as we can sea pickles.
02:16 It's just too perfect to pass up on.
02:18 With the way that banners sway back and forth,
02:20 we're able to get a neat animation
02:21 when we pair them with item frames.
02:23 And you'll see that with these blinking lights.
02:25 Now surprising as it may seem,
02:26 there's no command block trickery or redstone happening here
02:28 but rather the item just occasionally clips through the banner
02:31 as it sways back and forth,
02:32 and that'll give us the perfect thing
02:33 to line your tunnel with.
02:34 And if you wanna make the item frames invisible
02:36 but you don't have access to commands,
02:37 just make the backdrop out of birch planks too.
02:39 And there you go, problem solved.
02:41 If your base has a narrow floor plan,
02:42 here's why you need trap doors.
02:44 Since with a couple of these,
02:45 we're able to separate our stairs from the floor above,
02:47 but it won't make the room feel any smaller.
02:49 And it also keeps anyone from accidentally falling
02:51 into the staircase, which I think is also a benefit,
02:54 at the very least for safety.
02:55 And is it simple?
02:56 Sure, but it's also effective.
02:58 So I don't think that's a bad thing either.
02:59 If you mix in a couple of upside down barrels
03:01 into your floor, then you'll notice
03:02 that we get quite the pattern to spice up
03:04 your spruce texture.
03:05 Oh, and not to mention the fact that you'll be able
03:06 to fill up all of them with some hidden storage space,
03:09 which I guess gives us a literal way of tucking our money
03:11 in between the floorboards.
03:12 Nice touch for sure.
03:13 The new mangrove trap doors from the 1.19 update
03:16 work amazingly as wheels.
03:18 And this wagon proves it.
03:19 Since even though it's tough to get a proper circle
03:21 in Minecraft, I think these are as close
03:22 as we're gonna get without using mysticat style commands.
03:25 And then if we put these to use by making a wonderful wagon
03:27 like this user design, I think this especially
03:29 sells the illusion.
03:30 And it's a lot better than some of the other things
03:33 you can build with the trap door.
03:34 With just a wooden shovel, we're gonna make your door
03:36 look 10 times more realistic.
03:37 Since by changing the grass that's underneath the door
03:39 to a grass path, now it'll finally have that small gap
03:42 underneath that'll make it look like a real door.
03:44 Because at least in real life, if there's no gap
03:46 underneath the door, it's not opening that much.
03:48 So this will fix our ones in Minecraft,
03:50 all while being insanely simple to do as well.
03:52 I never would have thought of this,
03:53 but if you had a lectern facing a wall like this
03:55 and that leaves over top, then you've got yourself
03:57 the perfect plant to put inside your house.
03:59 And honestly, I love how simple this is
04:01 for how weird blocks it uses.
04:03 But if it finally gives me a use for those jungle leaves,
04:05 I'll gladly take a reason to put them out.
04:07 Whenever you build a farm, you're bound to have
04:08 these little patches of water that are hanging around.
04:10 And unfortunately those break up the farmland texture.
04:13 But instead, if we use dark oak slabs like this,
04:15 we can waterlog them to hide that water,
04:17 yet still hydrate all the crops around.
04:19 And then if you're looking for something even more
04:20 to do with that slab, you could add on a scarecrow
04:22 like this with a jack-o'-lantern face.
04:24 Now you got yourself a light source as well,
04:26 which will solve two problems with one solution.
04:28 Stop building your chimneys like this,
04:29 but instead do them like this.
04:31 Since by adding in just a wall and a stone pressure plate,
04:33 the smoke can still pass through the top
04:35 and it'll make the campfire design
04:36 look a lot more realistic.
04:38 Since the trap doors that you get from the nether
04:39 don't burn, we can use a crimson trap door like this
04:42 to make a really nice furnace design.
04:44 And if you wanted to, you could even flip open
04:45 that trap door and toss in your ancient debris
04:47 to get it actually smelted, since that won't burn
04:49 the lava that you tuck inside.
04:51 This is not an end portal, but from a distance,
04:53 it might trick you.
04:54 And up close, it's still a pretty funny conversation
04:56 starter to have.
04:57 But just using the new skulk blocks,
04:58 we have a texture that matches the void
05:00 that we see out in the end.
05:01 So if we line a three by three grid
05:03 with a couple of end stone blocks and eyes of ender,
05:05 you might have the perfect artificial piece
05:06 to put on display in your next museum.
05:08 As you'll notice, the cartography table
05:10 has the same texture as the dark oak planks,
05:12 which means that if we mix one of these cartography
05:14 workstations into our table like so,
05:16 it'll look as if we've placed different items
05:17 on top of the table.
05:18 And I think that's a really neat effect,
05:20 especially if you don't have item frames on hand.
05:22 Or really, even if you did have item frames,
05:23 there's no way that you're putting three items
05:25 in the same frame, so this is something special for sure.
05:27 If you're making an aqueduct or a sewer in your base,
05:30 then change out the regular cobblestone
05:31 for mossy cobblestone and seagrass
05:33 to make it look as if algae and plant bacteria
05:35 are starting to build up within the rocks,
05:37 which not only adds a distinction
05:38 between which blocks are underwater and which aren't,
05:40 but it also adds some nice world building to your build,
05:43 all without costing more than a little bit of bone meal
05:44 to do.
05:45 By using a mix of furnaces that face outward and inward,
05:48 we can make ourselves a sidewalk
05:49 and the gutter to put inside,
05:51 which I think is a really nice touch
05:52 if you hide the front with a slab.
05:53 And if you've got plenty of cobble
05:54 from all the time that you spent down mining,
05:56 I think this is finally a good use for it.
05:58 From here, this just looks like a smoker,
05:59 but as soon as we add a lever on top,
06:01 then it starts to look like an old television set.
06:03 And granted, we might have to do what this user suggests
06:06 and squint really hard to see it,
06:07 but I think for a set piece in an old living room,
06:09 this can definitely do the trick.
06:10 When it's laid out like so,
06:11 these trapdoors don't look like much,
06:13 but as soon as we flip them up,
06:14 you'll notice that this user gave us the design
06:16 for some pretty neat trapdoor boxes to have in your base.
06:19 And what I love most about these
06:20 is that they don't all look the same,
06:21 giving you some realistic variety to how the boxes play out.
06:24 It's just learning that pattern's gonna be tough,
06:26 but if you look at it with these birch trapdoors,
06:28 it becomes a lot more obvious what to do.
06:30 Here's how to make your table look expensive
06:31 without actually spending that much.
06:33 Since we're just four stairs
06:34 facing into each other like this,
06:35 we can line the top with trapdoors, and there you go.
06:37 We have a perfect table design
06:39 without having to do any kind of complicated building.
06:41 And from there, if you scatter around a few chairs,
06:43 this'll already be perfect enough to put on display.
06:45 Personally, I'd rather use birch trapdoors
06:47 instead of the oak ones that this user did,
06:49 since those'll blend better
06:50 with the sandstone that we're using anyway.
06:52 With just a handful of wooden planks,
06:53 we can craft together the pressure plates necessary
06:56 to line the top of our fences
06:57 and add a cool little railing to our build,
06:59 which in my eyes is such a simple solution
07:01 that I'm amazed that I never thought of it.
07:02 But after seeing this user's post,
07:04 it's definitely something I'm gonna add into all my builds.
07:06 Just maybe don't put these wooden pressure plates
07:08 next to the fences in your animal farm.
07:10 Otherwise, all you're gonna hear is clicking noises,
07:12 and then it won't seem like as good of an idea.
07:14 With a couple of doors like this
07:15 and trapdoors placed horizontally,
07:17 we're able to overlap these on top of our armor stands
07:19 and get ourselves a very own functioning wardrobe.
07:22 And while the armor that you place inside
07:23 might be expensive,
07:24 I guarantee you that the wood needed
07:26 to build this wardrobe is nothing like that,
07:28 giving you at worst a cool build,
07:29 and at best, it might even help
07:31 to hide some of that armor in case you need it.
07:32 How do we get this fish inside of a block?
07:34 Well, silly as it may seem,
07:35 the answer's actually pretty cheap.
07:37 All we have to use is a waterlogged chest,
07:39 an item frame with a map,
07:40 and then place a glass block over top.
07:42 And if we follow the steps just like this user lays out,
07:44 we'll be able to get our own tropical fish
07:46 inside of our blue glass aquarium.
07:48 Or rather, should I say a fish bowl,
07:49 because at this point, it's pretty small.
07:51 But I think that adds to the charm,
07:52 and it's definitely worth building in your next base.
07:54 Did you know that there's hay bale half slabs?
07:56 Well, kind of,
07:57 because if you get a far villager like this one
07:59 and then tuck it underneath the slab or stair,
08:01 it's possible that the hat on top
08:03 actually blends in with the hay bale texture,
08:05 which is pretty ridiculous,
08:06 but if you have a villager breeder,
08:07 I think it's more than worth a shot,
08:09 because as we all know,
08:09 nothing comes cheaper than villager labor.
08:11 Just make sure you don't look too closely at its eyes
08:13 when it's begging for help.
08:14 This is an ice block, and these are icicles,
08:16 or rather blue glass panes
08:17 that we're gonna make look like icicles.
08:19 Since by dying some glass light blue
08:21 and hanging them underneath a bridge like so,
08:23 you'll see that from a distance,
08:24 these will work perfectly as the icicles
08:25 that have developed underneath the overhang,
08:27 especially when the light blue
08:28 matches the color of the ice so perfectly.
08:30 It's a nice touch for sure.
08:31 Did you know that smoke from a campfire
08:32 is able to pass through a block?
08:34 Well, sure enough, that's gonna be the basis
08:36 for this new grill that we're building,
08:37 since with a couple of looms like this,
08:39 we can lay it out in such a way
08:40 that it looks like we've got a smoking grill
08:42 for our outdoor patio.
08:43 And honestly, when the alternative is building
08:45 one of these out of a bunch of iron and mine carts,
08:47 for those of us on a budget,
08:48 I think this will more than do the trick.
08:50 If we just line a couple of signs upward like this,
08:52 then we can make that tower
08:53 look like it's a fallen rope bridge.
08:55 And while it might look silly from some angles,
08:57 I think if you're looking at it dead on,
08:58 this will definitely do the trick that you're going for.
09:00 And honestly, I'm sad that there's no way to climb this,
09:02 otherwise we'd have a hilarious huge ladder
09:04 to put inside of our base.
09:05 If you place a trapdoor next to a slab,
09:07 you notice that the hit boxes lay out in such a way
09:09 that a trapdoor almost looks like a half-half slab
09:12 in some way, or a quarter slab, I guess.
09:14 And with that logic, if we place our spruce trapdoors
09:16 next to our spruce half slabs,
09:18 we get an extra gradual way to detail our builds.
09:20 And one that from a distance,
09:21 I think really sells the illusion that we're going for.
09:24 If we place down two spruce trapdoors like so,
09:26 and then add in chains over top,
09:27 we have ourselves all that we need
09:28 for a cute little swing to hang off of your tree.
09:30 And honestly, I love how the metal bits
09:32 in the spruce trapdoor seem to blend in
09:33 with the chains that we got here as well.
09:35 It all just works so perfectly.
09:36 Look at how much of a difference we have
09:38 between this leaf block and this one here.
09:40 And the only thing that we added in to make that
09:42 was a couple of vines like so.
09:43 And to me, it's so amazing how far we can go
09:45 with such a simple design.
09:46 Though, I must mention that if you plan on adding this,
09:48 you might want to invest in some string as well.
09:50 That way you can limit how far the vines actually grow
09:53 and make sure that your new plant doesn't get out of hand.
09:55 Instead of stairs, here's why you should use walls.
09:57 Since when you're trying to get a slope in your build,
09:59 whether that's for a roof or something else,
10:00 you'll notice that walls made of the same block
10:02 are capable of making a smoother yet steep slope
10:05 that you can show off in your build.
10:06 And if you don't have a stone cutter,
10:07 these do end up being cheaper
10:08 than using stair blocks as well.
10:10 And in my eyes, that's a win on both fronts.
10:12 By just using a couple of stone slabs and stairs,
10:14 we can redesign our mind to look so much better.
10:16 And now these different layers of depth
10:18 actually make it look as if someone mined there
10:20 instead of just leaving a smooth wall of ores and rocks.
10:22 And while there's no way to make ore slabs in the game,
10:24 if you cover them up just right using plain stone,
10:26 you can at least make pretend that there is.
10:28 And I think that's much better than what we had before.
10:30 If you just put two big drip leaf plants
10:32 facing into each other,
10:33 then their texture merges so perfectly
10:35 that we got ourselves our very own drip leaf bench,
10:37 which I think is a perfect addition
10:39 for any park that you put this in.
10:40 But if you're worried about those drip leaves falling down
10:42 as soon as you sit on them, don't worry,
10:43 because with a couple of redstone torches underneath,
10:45 we have a survival-friendly way
10:47 to make sure that these don't fall.
10:48 Here's how to make a fancy pirate ship
10:49 without spending all your gold doubloons.
10:51 Since by tucking in a spruce boat
10:53 into a mix of trap doors and stairs like this user does,
10:56 we can make a very convincing little boat
10:57 to put in your shipyard.
10:58 And not to mention the fact
10:59 that by using an actual boat inside,
11:01 we can still get in and ride the boat as usual,
11:03 though where we ride it to won't be that far.
11:05 But that's still a lot more functional than most build hacks,
11:08 so I'll let it slide.
11:09 And with that, folks,
11:10 YouTube thinks that you might like this video,
11:12 so see if they're right and have a good one, all right?
