I Built The ULTIMATE Cave Base in Minecraft Hardcore
Transcript
00:00 I'm closing in on 2000 days in Minecraft Hardcore, which is probably the longest I've ever spent in a single survival world.
00:07 However, despite all the days I spent building and gathering resources, I have still not finished the cave transformation that I started in episode 1.
00:15 Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing.
00:18 I mean it all started off so well and this side of the cave actually looks pretty good. This side on the other hand,
00:25 not so much. But today that's gonna change as I'm gonna transform this cave into something epic.
00:32 That means adding a bunch of new farms including sugar cane, cactus, honey, honeycomb and pumpkins.
00:39 Plus I will be adding an interior to the iron farm room.
00:42 I mean seriously, it just looks a mess right now.
00:46 And of course that means a bunch of new buildings inside the cave,
00:49 including a villager trading hall that will use a zombie curing system to get cheap trades.
00:55 And if you guys know me, then you know that we'll be finishing it off with some epic details.
00:59 So why not subscribe to the channel so you don't miss any future content?
01:04 It's free and you can always unsubscribe later on if you wish.
01:07 Now before we get to work, I have something to show you.
01:11 It took me nearly two hours of waiting, but it finally happened.
01:16 Yes, they finally hatched after waiting so long after building the zoo in last episode.
01:21 So we finally have some tails, but it turns out I did miss a few.
01:26 So I will be adding the brown mushrooms, the Arctic foxes, the bats and of course the new mobs from 1.20.
01:34 But right now I have so much work to do and first I need some redstone.
01:39 Hmm. Well that won't do. Let's hope there's some at the raid farm.
01:44 Well, not as much as I'd hoped. I guess that means I'm gonna have to go...
01:49 *music*
01:59 Okay, that's not bad for an hour's mining, but I'm also going to need some quartz for the observers.
02:06 So let's take a quick trip to the nether.
02:08 *music*
02:19 And I guess I should probably use some of that XP to repair my pickaxe.
02:23 *music*
02:29 And that should just about do it.
02:31 Why do all my builds lead to digging holes?
02:35 Oh well, here goes nothing.
02:38 *music*
02:56 After two hours of digging and repairing my tools, I think we finally have enough space for the first two farms.
03:03 I think maybe I'll have the sugar cane farm on each side and maybe the cactus at the end.
03:10 I mean, I don't use much cactus anyway, so I guess it only needs to be a small farm.
03:15 Plus these farms are pretty much lossless, so we shouldn't lose any drops.
03:19 And the farms are super simple to build.
03:21 But first I need to connect a hopper line into the farm storage so that we can automatically sort all the drops.
03:28 The sugar cane drops can go into these chests.
03:30 And the cactus can go over here.
03:33 Perfect.
03:34 Okay, time to get these farms in place.
03:36 *music*
03:38 *music*
03:40 *music*
03:42 (upbeat music)
03:45 (upbeat music)
03:48 (upbeat music)
03:50 (upbeat music)
03:55 (upbeat music)
04:00 (upbeat music)
04:05 (upbeat music)
04:16 (upbeat music)
04:19 - The farms are all in place now
04:23 and to get more drops, I've doubled them up
04:25 by stacking one behind the other on each side.
04:28 And it looks like we're already getting drops,
04:30 so at least I know they're working.
04:32 Which means we can now work on a design for the ceiling.
04:36 And I think I'll just continue with the spruce logs design
04:39 so that the theme flows nicely throughout the farming area.
04:42 (upbeat music)
04:45 (upbeat music)
04:48 Oh yeah, that's looking pretty awesome.
04:55 And now I don't have to keep farming the stupid sugar cane
04:58 so that I can craft rockets.
05:00 Now I wanna do something with the area behind the iron farm.
05:04 Man, this room really does need some work.
05:06 So let's get straight to it.
05:09 First, let's rearrange some of these walls
05:11 and open up the room a little bit.
05:12 (upbeat music)
05:15 Now I should probably add in a ceiling
05:17 as it kinda looks a bit of a mess right now.
05:19 (upbeat music)
05:21 Okay, that hides all the stones.
05:23 So now let's add some details
05:25 and turn this into an actual room.
05:27 I think we'll start with a couple of tables at each side.
05:30 I'll place in a few flower pots
05:32 and add some poppies in memory of the iron golems.
05:35 Hmm, I can't decide which way to do the carpet.
05:38 No, that don't look right.
05:40 Maybe I'll just go with some moss carpet instead.
05:43 Yeah, that works.
05:45 Now it just needs a few leaves
05:47 and maybe some hanging flowers.
05:49 And to make the farm look a little bit nicer,
05:52 I think I'm gonna switch out the walls
05:53 for some red terracotta.
05:55 (upbeat music)
05:58 Considering how simple this design is,
06:00 I actually really like it.
06:02 And it certainly does the job.
06:04 And the red terracotta really does add
06:05 a nice warmth to the room.
06:07 Now with that all in place,
06:08 we can finally start working on the actual cave.
06:11 But first, I'm going to need some bees.
06:14 But I think I used most of them over here in the zoo.
06:18 So I guess I should round up a few more.
06:20 Well, I still have a few left over,
06:22 but still not enough.
06:23 So I'm definitely gonna need some more.
06:26 There's one.
06:27 Let's grab some extra bees while we're here too.
06:30 Where is he going?
06:32 Ooh, was that another nest?
06:34 Yes, that's two bees and two nests.
06:37 So I just need a few more.
06:39 Check this out, I found so many.
06:46 The flower forest is actually a really good place
06:48 to find them.
06:49 I mean, that only took me like 15 minutes.
06:53 Anyway, let's head home as I'm getting a little hungry.
06:56 Let's grab some emeralds.
06:58 And buy some more golden carrots
07:00 as next up I have a pretty big job to tackle.
07:04 And yet again, my projects lead to more digging.
07:08 Seriously, like why do I do this to myself?
07:12 Okay, one more time.
07:13 Let's do this.
07:14 (upbeat music)
07:19 (upbeat music)
07:22 (upbeat music)
07:24 (upbeat music)
07:27 (upbeat music)
07:29 (upbeat music)
07:32 (upbeat music)
07:59 So that took me a lot longer than I expected,
08:03 but I did do a little bit of terraforming
08:05 to make the area look much nicer
08:08 and a bit more interesting.
08:09 Plus I've done a fair bit of texturing to the walls.
08:12 So I think I'm ready to build the honey and honeycomb farm,
08:16 which I think I'm gonna build in here.
08:18 But first I need my redstone boxes.
08:20 And yes, I finally dyed them red,
08:23 which should make finding things a little bit easier.
08:26 Now the farm's gonna go over in this corner just here.
08:30 And these areas will be covered with glass
08:33 to make a kind of dome shape.
08:35 But first, let's get all the redstone in place.
08:37 (upbeat music)
08:40 (upbeat music)
08:42 (upbeat music)
09:10 All that's needed now is the minecart chests.
09:14 And that's pretty much most of it done.
09:17 Now, before I add the bees nest,
09:18 I just need a couple of things.
09:20 First, I need some glass.
09:22 And we should have a fair amount of cactus now.
09:25 Yep, that's plenty.
09:27 And maybe a bit more sand.
09:29 And throw those in the smelter.
09:31 I just hope the green glass looks okay.
09:34 Now, the only thing I need is flowers and lots of them.
09:38 And that should just about do it.
09:40 Okay, let's try adding the green glass
09:42 and see how it looks.
09:44 (upbeat music)
09:46 Hmm, actually, that's not bad.
09:50 Yeah, I like that.
09:52 And I think it'll look even better
09:53 once we get in some more of the details.
09:55 So now I just need to go ahead and place in the flowers.
09:58 Yes, I actually really like that a lot.
10:01 Now, to finish it off,
10:02 I just need to add the bees nests
10:04 and fill the dispensers with glass bottles and shears.
10:08 That way we can collect both honey and honeycomb.
10:11 Okay, that is no way near enough bottles.
10:16 Man, I'm gonna need a lot more glass,
10:19 which means I need tons of sand.
10:21 Okay, let's just hope that makes enough.
10:23 (upbeat music)
10:26 Jeez, that took so much more glass than I expected.
10:35 But everything is in place now, including the shears.
10:38 And in case they run out,
10:39 we can top them up by using these minecart chests here.
10:43 So all I have to do now is finally add the bees nests.
10:47 You know what?
10:48 That is looking pretty awesome.
10:50 So it's time to leave the farm to do its thing
10:53 while I go and do mine, I guess.
10:55 Let's get building.
10:56 (upbeat music)
10:58 (upbeat music)
11:01 (upbeat music)
11:03 (upbeat music)
11:06 (upbeat music)
11:09 (upbeat music)
11:11 (upbeat music)
11:14 (upbeat music)
11:20 (upbeat music)
11:25 (upbeat music)
11:30 (upbeat music)
11:42 (upbeat music)
11:44 So there's still a lot of work to do,
11:48 but already I think this build adds so much to the cave
11:52 and the change of roof color really does brighten things up.
11:55 Now I still have a lot of texturing to do
11:57 and maybe I'll add some overgrown vines
12:00 hanging from the ceiling,
12:01 but it's probably easier if we get the buildings
12:03 all in place first.
12:05 But I will need a few materials first.
12:07 So let's quickly head over to the mob farm.
12:10 Awesome, we still have plenty of bones.
12:12 And while we're here, let's quickly repair our tools.
12:15 And now I should be able to make tons of moss
12:17 and harvest it with my awesome hoe.
12:20 I have no idea if that's enough,
12:22 but almost a double chest worth
12:23 should keep me going for a while.
12:25 I definitely need a moss farm at some point,
12:28 but I'll get to that at another time.
12:30 For now, the only thing I need is amethyst and calcite.
12:33 And luckily I stumbled across a couple of geodes
12:37 while I was mining.
12:38 So...
12:39 (upbeat music)
12:42 Okay, that should just about do it for now.
12:55 I will be using the amethyst and moss in a little while,
12:58 but first I want to make a start on the pumpkin farm,
13:00 which is going to sit somewhere around here.
13:04 So it's probably best to start with the actual building,
13:07 then we can design the farm to fit inside.
13:10 So let's work some magic.
13:12 (upbeat music)
13:14 (upbeat music continues)
13:18 (upbeat music continues)
13:21 (upbeat music continues)
13:24 Well, that took me longer than expected.
13:51 And texturing is so tough, especially the ceiling,
13:55 but it is slowly coming together.
13:57 And the barn itself turned out great.
13:59 It probably still needs a few details,
14:01 but overall I think I'm pretty happy with it.
14:03 Next up is time to get the farm in place,
14:06 and I've already made some space,
14:08 so it should fit in nicely.
14:09 So first let's make a water stream down to the storage area
14:13 so that we can filter the items into the last spot.
14:16 Now the items can drop off here
14:18 and go straight into the storage system.
14:20 And let's add the pumpkins to the item field
14:23 before I forget.
14:24 Now let's just make a little space here,
14:26 and we can place some hopper lines
14:28 so that we can collect 100% of the drops.
14:31 The items should go into here
14:32 and then pop out the dropper into the stream,
14:35 which flows straight into the storage system.
14:37 And for the actual farm, I'm using mud,
14:39 as it works much like a slab.
14:41 This means that the hoppers underneath
14:43 will pick up every drop.
14:44 Now I just need to do a little redstone magic.
14:47 (upbeat music)
14:49 (upbeat music)
14:52 (upbeat music)
14:54 (upbeat music)
14:57 (upbeat music)
15:00 (upbeat music)
15:02 (upbeat music)
15:04 Placing some pumpkin seeds,
15:06 and then cover it all up with some glass.
15:09 Now the farm is all in place and looking pretty awesome,
15:12 so I can just leave it here to do its thing.
15:15 But before I call this one done,
15:16 I need to add a stairway
15:18 and maybe some kind of storage room upstairs.
15:20 [Music]
15:51 Okay, I think this one has turned out really cool.
15:54 The farms down here look awesome and it all seems to be working.
15:58 Then upstairs we have a kind of storage area just for detail really,
16:02 but I think it looks pretty cool.
16:04 Now I just need to tidy up a few of these glowberry vines with some shears
16:09 and maybe a little bone meal for the extra lighting.
16:11 Oh yeah, that looks so much better now.
16:14 Now I just need to finish off this corner to complete this side of the cave.
16:19 Then I can start working on this corner over here
16:22 as we still have the villager trading hall to build, which means moving all the villagers.
16:27 Yeah, like that's going to be a lot of fun.
16:31 So I guess we shouldn't waste any time.
16:34 [Music]
16:44 [Music]
16:54 Okay, that was tough.
17:11 I'm not going to lie, but that's a lot of work done now
17:14 and I'd say we're about one third of the way done with the texturing, so it's getting there.
17:20 And now this side is looking pretty awesome, although I still need to do an interior.
17:26 So let me know in the comments if you guys have any ideas of what we could use this build for.
17:32 I mean, it's only small, so we can't do much, but at least it finishes off this corner.
17:37 And next up is time for the trading hall.
17:39 And I was thinking maybe some stripped crimson stem would look pretty cool.
17:43 Or maybe not.
17:46 Hmm.
17:48 Oh, well, I guess that means a quick trip to the nether.
17:51 [Music]
18:03 That should be plenty.
18:07 It's not loads, but it should be enough.
18:10 And finally, we can start on the villager trading hall.
18:13 Now I've already made some markings to help me with the layout,
18:16 so it should fit nicely into this corner.
18:19 The spruce planks are where the zombies will go.
18:22 And the villagers will be standing on pistons placed in these holes.
18:26 But let's get the floor in place first.
18:28 [Music]
18:37 Now the floor's in place, I just have a little bit of redstone to do.
18:40 Which is super simple.
18:42 So for each villager, I simply place a sticky piston, a trapdoor, redstone dust, and a lever.
18:49 See? Easy peasy.
18:51 See? Open close.
18:53 Ha ha! It works!
18:54 Okay, so let's do the rest.
18:57 Oh yeah, and don't forget to isolate the redstone.
19:00 Now we'll need to build up these sections so that we can trap both the villagers and the zombies.
19:05 So let's get back to work.
19:07 [Music]
19:37 [Music]
19:47 Okay, that's looking good.
19:50 And now for the easy part.
19:52 Getting the villagers in place.
19:54 And yes, that was a joke.
19:56 So first I need some lecterns.
20:00 Which means loads of bookshelves.
20:03 And luckily, I raided some ages ago from one of the dungeons.
20:07 So I kind of have a few spare.
20:10 But one stack should be more than enough.
20:14 Now let's get those villagers.
20:16 Okay, we have villager number one.
20:18 Wait, where are you going?
20:20 Oh, someone's eager.
20:21 Nice, let's keep moving buddy.
20:23 Like where the hell did you come from?
20:26 There must be a dark spot somewhere.
20:28 And we have our first villager.
20:30 Excellent.
20:31 And still loads more to go.
20:34 So let's place down some more lecterns and repeat, I guess.
20:38 And we have a villager with no trade.
20:42 You're going to give me trouble, aren't you?
20:44 Come on, get off my stairs.
20:47 Ah, yes, go back in your hole, you stupid hobbit.
20:52 Sorry, I mean nitwit.
20:54 You know what?
20:55 I don't even know anymore.
20:56 Okay, that's the two farmers in.
20:58 Sorry, buddy, we only have full time positions.
21:02 So you're going nowhere.
21:04 And which spot are you going to choose?
21:06 Ah, good choice, my friend.
21:08 Okay, that looks like we've got all of the main villagers with trades in place.
21:14 But we have a few new villagers, so I'm going to leave them to grow up
21:19 and then we can get some good trades before I move them.
21:22 Now we just need to get some zombies.
21:25 Let's just grab some name tags.
21:27 And of course, it has to be Dave.
21:30 Sorry if your name's Dave.
21:31 Let's dig down here because I'm pretty sure there's a cave.
21:35 Ah, perfect.
21:37 And we already have some volunteers.
21:40 Okay, like we don't need that many.
21:41 Seriously, the rest of you are just in the way.
21:44 So please sod off.
21:46 Okay, that's one trapped.
21:48 So let's put a name tag on you.
21:50 And now we just have three more to trap.
21:53 That's two, three and four.
21:56 Now I should be able to release them down to the chambers just below the villagers.
22:01 Excellent.
22:01 That's them all in place now.
22:03 So we just need to test if it actually works.
22:07 First, I need a fermented spider.
22:08 I why is that not working?
22:11 Okay, I'm a noob.
22:12 I needed brown mushrooms.
22:13 Let's fill these with water and the blaze powder is in.
22:16 So now I can add the fermented spider.
22:18 I and gunpowder should make it a splash potion of weakness.
22:22 Okay.
22:23 Now let's drop this villager down and get the zombies attention.
22:30 Now, if we stand back.
22:31 Okay, I think it's working.
22:34 Yes.
22:35 Let's bring him up.
22:36 Okay, do draw zombies.
22:38 So have this.
22:39 Okay, I feel bad.
22:40 So here have a golden apple.
22:42 It'll make you feel better.
22:43 And achievement unlocked.
22:47 Excellent.
22:48 So now we know it's working.
22:52 Although you are still well overpriced, dude.
22:55 Still, we can work on that later.
22:57 As right now, I need to put a roof and a building over this thing.
23:01 So let's get to work.
23:04 So.
23:14 Gosh, this cave is looking so cool now.
23:33 And I'm loving the crimson wood for the trading hall.
23:36 It's not block I would usually use, but it actually works great for this build.
23:41 Plus, it adds a nice change in color.
23:43 Next, I think it's time to get back to some detailing as I still have a lot of work to finish up,
23:49 including another house and Amethyst Geode and lots of detail.
23:54 So let's get this place finished.
23:56 The first thing I wanted to do was add one more building to the slope leading up to the
24:02 Nether portal, so I made some changes to the walkway and started planning out the layout for the build.
24:07 It was a little bit awkward building the house into the slope,
24:11 but I felt like it was a great spot for the final building inside the cave.
24:15 I used pack mud and mud bricks to keep with the theme and then went ahead and use spruce for the
24:20 roof so that it would naturally blend with the cliff.
24:23 Once the house was complete, I decided to try and add a bit more color to the cave
24:27 by adding a custom Amethyst Geode.
24:29 I built this into the wall and then spent several hours going around the cave,
24:34 texturing the walls and trying to make it blend with everything else to make it feel a bit more natural.
24:39 Once that was all in place, I went around the rest of the cave texturing the walls and the ceiling,
24:44 which really added so much more detail and really finished off the cave.
24:49 I also added in a bunch of glow berries and another custom mushroom
24:57 over in the corner next to my starter house.
24:59 Inside the mushroom, I made a small work area to make it feel
25:02 a little bit like a kind of market stall or a small shop.
25:06 I then finished up the cave with some cool hanging lanterns using shroom lights and mangrove wood.
25:11 And then for a little extra detail, I added in some custom hanging vines
25:20 and switched most of the grass blocks for moss as I preferred the vibrant green.
25:24 And finally, I decided to change up a couple of the roofs for mangrove wood
25:28 to add that little bit of extra color.
25:30 And finally, after several weeks of work, I think this cave is finally looking pretty awesome
25:46 and feeling much more like it belongs in the game.
25:48 I hope you enjoyed this video and I'll see you next time.
25:51 Bye!
25:56 (outro)
25:59 The only question left is what should I build next?
26:03 A castle? A village? Or maybe you have a better idea?
26:06 Let me know in the comments and I'll catch you in the next one.
