00:00 The Trafford Centre is turning 25 this month and will be celebrating this milestone with a free,
00:06 feel-good, family-friendly show. On the 29th of September, the famous shopping centre will be
00:11 hosting a one-hour show, headlined by 90 Stars Bewitched, to mark its 25th anniversary this year.
00:19 We spoke to local people to find out if the Trafford Centre is their first stop for shopping
00:24 in the city region as it prepares to honour 25 years of serving customers in Greater Manchester.
00:30 Well, I think it's good for a lot of people because everything's all in one place. I think
00:35 it's good for families and I know my teenage niece loves to go there because she can meet
00:42 her friends there and there's places to eat and have coffee. I think I've just grown out of that
00:46 a little bit. I just like something quieter. I like smaller places. I don't like great big places
00:52 that are enclosed really, but I like places like Altrincham where it's smaller still. One-off
00:58 shops. It's a great place to go to shopping. I usually go around Christmas time to do the
01:04 Christmas shopping. There's so many offers and stuff like that at Christmas. The Trafford Centre
01:10 is easy for parking. It's not easy in Manchester for parking and I think the Trafford Centre has
01:14 an overall effect on the town centre. But we do like to come into Manchester, do a bit of shopping,
01:20 have a nice lunch. I prefer strolling around. It's just a better ambience to be in rather than
01:28 in a closed-in area where it always seems over busy because you're squeezing all these people
01:35 into a corridor if you like. I prefer the wider open spaces to enjoy and just chill.
01:42 That's just me. Online shopping's changed the way people shop more than anything else. Yes,
01:49 you can park and yes, it doesn't matter if it's raining. Yeah, there is. It's plus points. I'll
01:55 give you that. Yes. I prefer to come into the centre, in the city centre, because the Trafford
02:00 Centre is quite, it's very all like the same. Like all the shops, there's not really much
02:04 there. If you want something specific, it's very hit or miss whether you get it or whether you
02:10 don't. So if you come into the centre, you're more than likely to get it rather than the Trafford
02:14 Centre. I feel like in the Trafford Centre, a lot of the shops are expensive. So probably here's
02:22 easier to come to and it's not as far away. Personally, I've only been there once and it's
02:29 a nice little aspect just to visit just all around. I mean, it's easier to come in the city
02:35 centre but Trafford Centre, it's nice to go visit. You know, just the aspect, the way it looks and
02:40 things like that. That's what I love. It's nice. I've been there a few times myself. It's easy to
02:45 get to from the centre. It's a bus straight there. And it is, again, it's a nice place out. It's full,
02:51 it's nice. We've been there once and like the interior of it is beautiful. I can't fault it.
02:55 It's a nice place to go. You know, for it to be 25 years old now, it doesn't look older than 10,
03:00 you know. It's doing really good for its age. It's a nice place. I'm going to go there more.
