Transcript
00:00 Authorities have already arrested the driver of the SUV involved in a road rage incident in Lungsod, Valenzuela.
00:07 This is the story of Ryan Lasigas.
00:10 The CCTV video was taken early in the morning of August 19.
00:16 The SUV driver, Marlon Malabute, was seen getting out of his car.
00:21 He was shot in the head and was taken to the middle of the traffic on Faustino Street, Barangay Punturin.
00:29 The taxi driver, Henry Ong Jr., was also there.
00:31 Malabute was identified by the plate number of the car that was captured in the video.
00:57 Because of the trauma in the incident, Henry stopped the vehicle.
01:01 I hope he will just give up.
01:05 According to the PNP, Malabute is a businessman from Tondo, Manila.
01:10 According to the records of the LTO, Malabute is the third owner of the vehicle.
01:15 The PNP of Valenzuela filed a case of grave threat, alarm and scandal against the suspect.
01:23 The PNP firearms and explosive office returned Malabute's license to own and possess firearms to his 9mm gun.
01:31 Hence, Malabute is now being ordered to surrender his firearm to the nearest police station.
01:37 Otherwise, he will be subject to police operation.
01:41 The tracker team of Valenzuela PNP also formed to find Malabute.
01:47 This was filed in the fiscal office. That's where the case that was filed against him will be answered.
01:55 If he won't show up there, he will be issued a warrant, subject to police operation.
02:05 Checkpoints in Valenzuela were not added after the incident,
02:10 particularly on the roads that cross Valenzuela and other provinces.
02:15 Lesson learned, number one is police visibility.
02:18 I can say that our police visibility in that area was not lacking because I am often in that area.
02:27 But I already tasked Colonel Destura to add our police visibility,
02:34 knowing that there are people who live in our area who are strong-willed, like this one,
02:42 who will be able to approach my fellow countrymen.
02:45 Second, additional CCTV.
02:48 The driver was also given assistance, like the one given by the lawyer.
02:52 You know, I can't avoid it.
02:56 Sometimes, there's traffic, I get hot-headed, sometimes I get drunk in the middle of the day, I go home.
03:02 Whatever reason it may be, this example, especially if I surrender,
03:07 and especially if I am charged, our motorists will be responsible,
03:16 especially those who pass through Valenzuela.
03:19 Ryan Lisigas for the nation.
