00:00 Our top story tonight does take us to the northeast where we're once again tracking
00:03 severe thunderstorms.
00:05 Storms have been dumping hail in several states including in New Jersey and Massachusetts
00:09 as you can see here.
00:10 Yesterday we had one report of a fatality in northeast Pennsylvania from a tree coming
00:15 down on someone.
00:16 And at one point we had over 200,000 addresses without power.
00:20 Yesterday we're dealing with another round of flash flooding, severe thunderstorms, back
00:24 to back days of storms in the northeast.
00:27 But this is something we could call the end of summer front here.
00:32 It's the front that's ending the prolonged heat wave that we had over the past few days
00:36 in some areas and we're probably not going to bounce back as hot as we have been for
00:41 at least two or three days in a row behind this front here as we step into fall.
00:45 Now with that said, it's still going to be humid out there.
00:47 So we don't expect to see a drop in the humidity.
00:50 It'll still feel kind of sticky from Boston down to D.C. over the next couple days as
00:55 the front just stalls.
00:56 I'm going to remove the lightning.
00:57 I want to point out all these flash flood warnings.
01:00 And there's a significant trend here.
01:01 An hour or two ago we had a number of severe thunderstorm warnings.
01:05 Those have been diminishing, but we're seeing an increasing number of flash flooding.
01:11 Flash flood reports and the reason for flash flood warnings popping up here into southern
01:14 parts of New Hampshire, areas like Hookset and into Manchester and northwest of Raymond,
01:19 also into Claremont there, west of Interstate 93 in western New Hampshire.
01:24 Also into the areas around the Berkshires and west of the Worcester Hills from Greenfield
01:28 down to Amherst Center along I-91.
01:30 Multiple spots.
01:31 I-91 a tough spot to be on in Interstate 95 there, or 91 with flash flooding.
01:37 Albany, you're dealing with some scattered showers and storms.
01:39 Some lightning for you in Disconnected-y.
01:41 And then into areas around Poughkeepsie, New York and Newburgh, we're dealing with some
01:44 showers.
01:45 There is a lone thunderstorm up to the north into Bradford County of Pennsylvania, Tiooui
01:48 County, New York, not far from Chemung.
01:50 And areas like Elmira and Sayre, PA there as the North Fork of the Susquehanna River
01:54 enters the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
01:56 Farther south, you can see some ongoing showers and storms.
01:58 Lancaster County, PA, down near Peach Bottom, we're dealing with a severe thunderstorm warning
02:03 from Quarryville down to the south of the Buck.
02:06 And then also areas around, say, the northwest suburbs of Baltimore, Baltimore County.
02:12 Areas around Cockeysville and down to Reisterstown, we're dealing with a severe thunderstorm here
02:17 as well, and into Columbia, at least just west of Columbia, Maryland.
02:21 A very populated area there.
02:23 Into areas around PG County and beyond.
02:25 Some storms are still out there.
02:26 King George County, Buckingham County, and then into the eastern panhandle, West Virginia,
02:30 Pendleton County, under a severe thunderstorm warning too.
02:33 Big zone of severe thunderstorm watch is continuing until 11 p.m. here from Maine to Virginia
02:39 and eastern West Virginia.
02:41 So again, technically New York City is not included in this, but we do still have an
02:45 ongoing severe threat north and west of the city.
02:48 Temps are down, but it's humid out there.
02:49 I say temps are down, we're still at 84 in DC and Virginia Beach, but that 65 in Buffalo
02:54 looks a bit better.
02:55 How are we doing compared to yesterday?
02:57 We're now 12 degrees cooler than this time yesterday in New York City.
03:00 So that's a change.
03:01 But one big thing for the weekend, occasional showers and storms are going to cause trouble
03:05 in the east all, if not often on this weekend, I should say, I was going to say all weekend,
03:10 but it's really not going to be all weekend.
03:12 All weekend we'll have showers and storms around, but they will be scattered and most
03:16 numerous in the afternoon.
03:18 So look out, there will be some interruptions to your outdoor plans both days.
