00:10 The public is almost running out of patience with us.
00:27 Yet the reasons why that backlog is there is not the making of the department.
00:37 It is factors beyond the department.
00:40 So I had sought DCI to perhaps just update me where we are,
00:49 so that I can see whether there is anything we can do to first track
00:55 the recovery from lost ground.
00:58 I am happy based on the report I got from DCI,
01:03 I mean that at least now the process is back on track.
01:09 However, based on the reports,
01:15 it appears that even when we are back on track,
01:18 we may need to do a few other things to be able to catch up with the demand and
01:25 bring things to normal.
01:27 Because even as we try to clear the backlog, new people,
01:32 new applicants are on the queue.
01:35 So I decided to have this very brief discussion in about 20 minutes.
01:41 And the reason is that I have an opportunity
01:47 to discuss how we can resolve that issue.
01:53 And I thought before I go for that appointment,
01:57 it's good I have an understanding of what the issues are.
02:01 And then of course, we plan more elaborate visits,
02:10 so that we understand the departments and the directorates more fully,
02:17 and what kind of support or
02:21 facilitation you may require from our office at policy level.
02:27 Other things that perhaps require a bit of push,
02:31 maybe budget issues and other things, just to make sure that you
02:36 continue delivering the services that you deliver to the people of Kenya.
