00:16 Ivan, what can you say about the legally binding code of conduct in the ASEAN Summit?

00:26 Maris, regarding the legally binding code of conduct, it seems we are still far from that.

00:32 But in the Chairman's statement issued last night,

00:35 the ASEAN member states support the Philippines' position in many aspects

00:40 in the West Philippine Sea or South China Sea.

00:44 This is followed by the declaration of leadership in the actions that are aggressive,

00:50 in the reclamations and also in the marine environment in the region.

00:56 The call was supported here to avoid all actions that could pose a threat to tensions in the West Philippine Sea

01:02 and also to a peaceful resolution in the Segalote.

01:05 The call was also supported to expedite the issuance of an effective code of conduct in the South China Sea.

01:11 But in the statement of Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the ASEAN-China Summit,

01:16 China Maris said that they are following the law.

01:21 We seek common ground while setting aside differences,

01:25 properly handle disagreements through dialogue and consultation.

01:33 This statement is followed by harassment, water bombings, dangerous manoeuvres in the sea

01:39 and China's issuance of a map of the 10-dash line that connects almost the entire South China Sea.

01:45 This is considered as unspoken and China is doing in the region.

01:50 So the President is adamant in front of the ASEAN leaders.

01:55 We cannot emphasize enough that actions not words should be the ultimate measure

02:01 of our commitment to securing peace and stability in the South China Sea.

02:06 Anything else simply does not suffice.

02:10 In the midst of the support of their countries,

02:17 including South Korea, Japan, the US and Canada,

02:20 as well as the ASEAN member states in the calls of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea,

02:24 China's insistence is not to side with them.

02:27 To keep differences under control,

02:32 what is essential now is to oppose peaking sides,

02:37 oppose bloc confrontation and oppose a new Cold War,

02:43 and to ensure that disagreements and disputes among countries are properly handled.

02:52 Meanwhile, on the third and last day of the summit,

02:55 the ASEAN and Australia Summit and ASEAN-UN were scheduled.

02:59 The President will also speak today at the bilateral one-on-one meeting
