00:09 Welcome to day five of the Royal Adelaide Show, where we have a new face of SA Country Shows.
00:14 Last night, Mandala farmer and diesel mechanic Lockie Johnson was named the 2023 Rural Ambassador at a dinner in the showgrounds.
00:21 Carly Gogel from Narracore and Elise Kennedy from Pinneroo were both named as the runners-up.
00:26 In the sheepshed today, we saw the August Sean Merino and Paul Merino judging kick off, taking out the top honours in the Merino Rams.
00:34 It was a two-year-old strong wool from Maluri Brinkworth, which sold earlier this year at Bendigo for $10,000 to Coban Stud in Queensland.
00:42 While the full wool Merino Yu Grand Champion and Reserve was won by Ori Cowie from Moorooka, with a medium wool taking out the top spot.
00:51 In the August Sean Paul Merinos, Maluri also claimed the double with their highly decorated medium wool,
00:56 which last month won the National Merino Ram of the Year at Dubbo, taking out Grand Champion with their strong wool in Reserve.
01:05 In the Paul Merino Yu section, Ori Cowie won in their first showing of long wools in seven years with their fine wool entry.
01:12 March Sean Merino judging also concluded today with Glen Donald Neal taking out Grand Champion with a strong wool,
01:18 while North Ashrose Goulnair won Champion Yu with their medium wool entry.
01:24 Tomorrow sees the strongly contested March Sean Paul Merino section continue, leading up to the Supreme judging.
01:30 The dairy judging also concluded today with Supreme Senior Champion cow going to Ben Largo Elijah Ding from Ben Largo Holsteins in Glencoe,
01:38 while the most successful dairy exhibitor went to Guernsey Breeders LF and JM Cleggart from Glencoe.
