00:00 This is a site which sadly had a bit of a history to it, where some of the ceiling fell
00:04 in, the building had to be demolished and what we've done now here really is picked
00:08 up with the redevelopment of the whole site.
00:11 The whole pool has been redeveloped, new buildings come in place and what we have here now is
00:15 an exciting project for the future.
00:18 Just a little bit of history, my own children learnt to swim here many years ago so to see
00:21 it back on its feet is very exciting indeed.
00:24 What we've got here is a site which is kind of how we should be building things for the
00:27 future now.
00:28 What we've got is massive thermal efficiency to reduce the cost of heating the building,
00:33 we've got solar panels all over the roof now, a lot more than the original design.
00:36 As I say, my area of work with the council is climate change so we wanted a lot more
00:42 solar energy on the site and as a result of that we're saving about 19,000kg of carbon
00:48 a year from the site which is amazing news and in addition to that the benefit is the
00:52 costs are a lot less, about £30,000 a year less than we would normally be spending on
00:56 a site like this in an annual budget so it's all good news really in that respect.
01:01 We're next to the site continuing the building programme, getting it up and running, a lot
01:04 more work as you can see, we're in the gym area at the moment, there's no walls but they'll
01:08 be coming.
01:09 Electric charging in the car park is going in, stuff like that and obviously the final
01:13 details of the pool.
01:14 Hoping to open by next June/July time at the end of the school term, ready for the summer
01:19 holidays and the place will be heaving with families and children having a fantastic time.
