00:00 It's the 2023 college football season and the SMU Mustangs dominated Louisiana Tech
00:09 38-14 in the first home game of the season.
00:13 This victory really dumped up the excitement that is going on with the Mustangs program
00:18 as they just accepted an invitation into the ACC but they will finish out the year in the
00:23 AAC before making the big move in July of 2024.
00:28 SMU quarterback Preston Stone was named the starting quarterback back in late August and
00:33 had a great game throwing for 248 yards and three touchdowns.
00:38 SMU head coach Rhett Lashley stated in press conference after the game that he's really
00:42 excited to be 1-0 and that he thinks the defense really set the tone.
00:47 Excited to be 1-0, good team win.
00:49 I mean I thought the first half was really good.
00:51 I think our defense set the tone, stopped the run, got after the quarterback, you know
00:56 shutting anybody out in the half is tough.
00:58 I thought offense, first two drives, sputtered a little, we moved the ball but didn't do
01:02 anything but then really, you know we had the big play to Jordan and that kind of opened
01:05 things up and then Corey's interception and we just played solid the rest of the half,
01:08 scoring the touchdown for half was good.
01:10 It was a good half of team football.
01:13 The Mustangs will hit the road to take on the University of Oklahoma next Saturday,
01:17 September 9th.
01:18 Kickoff will be at 5 p.m. for all things SMU and D210 sport updates.
