A Gin martini can either start the night or end them according to Sassenach Spirits founder, cocktail expert, and actor Sam Heughan. He brings a taste of Scotland directly to New York with this three-ingredient drink that takes only one minute - so if you start at 4:59, you'll be sipping on the perfect cocktail by 5pm.

00:05 4.59, that means I've got a minute to make a cocktail.
00:08 Hi, I'm Sam Heughan, I'm here at Esquire and I'm going to make us a Sassanach Martini.
00:19 Martinis can either start the night or end them.
00:21 I would always say two is enough, any more than two and yeah, you're going to end your
00:25 night pretty quickly.
00:26 They are strong but they are delicious, especially when you choose a very good gin.
00:30 To be totally honest, I love my martinis dry, I'm not a dirty fan, but if you're dirty,

00:37 Get as filthy as you like.
00:38 Let's make a martini I hear you say.
00:41 Orange bitters, we're going to do two dashes, healthy dashes of orange bitters.
00:45 You want about two and three quarter ounces of Sassanach Wild Scottish Gin.
00:53 We need a good dry vermouth and we're going to use like a quarter of an ounce.

01:03 We're going to stir it.
01:04 Yes, we're going to stir.
01:05 So how many stirs I hear you say?
01:07 Well, you want to make it dilute down, you want to chill it.
01:12 What this is going to do is it's not going to bruise the alcohol, it's not going to dilute
01:15 it too much.
01:16 By shaking it, the ice breaks up really quickly and dilutes your drink down.
01:19 That's really cold now, I can barely feel my hand.
