Fossil fuels imports from Russia have fallen dramatically, the European Commission stressed on Thursday, following reports that the bloc's purchases of Russian liquified natural gas (LNG) are up 40% compared to pre-war levels.

00:22 The EU has ended all imports of Russian coal.
00:25 It's reduced Russian oil imports by around 90%.
00:28 And we've cut total Russian gas imports by around two-thirds.
00:32 So even though LNG volumes have increased,
00:36 it's still a relatively small level and a very small share of our overall energy imports.

01:06 There are certain member states where those import hubs are,
01:11 and there is, obviously that's the entry point for LNG.
01:17 But I think it's something which we are looking to tackle at a European level.
