NBA veteran Kyle Anderson leads China to first FIBA World Cup win   NBA veteran and China’s naturalized player Kyle Anderson leads China to its first win in the  FIBA World Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, with an 83-76 victory over Angola. Anderson scored 17 points with seven rebounds and four assists and said that he looked forward to facing Gilas Pilipinas on Saturday, September 2 at the Big Dome. 00:03 Yeah, like you said, it was much needed. I think we finally were able to play hard for 40 minutes.

00:07 That's very key to success and our victories here, so we gotta go out and try to do it again against the Philippines.

00:16 I think a lot of bench players that stepped up and played well and brought energy and played hard for us and some shots fell for everybody.

00:25 You know, everybody contributed, so we have to take credit.

00:28 What do you say about the defense?

00:31 Yeah, the defense was huge. That's a tough team. They were kind of killing us on the inside in the first quarter,

00:35 so once we took that away, we had to focus our rebound on the ball and it fell our way.

00:40 You mentioned the Philippines in the next game. Tell us about it.

00:43 Yeah, it's going to be a good game. They got some good players. I'm watching them all tournament.

00:47 They're the home team, so they'll have the crowd on their side. It'll be a hostile environment, but very fun.

00:52 I like those type of games. They have a really good player in Jordan Clarkson who I've been playing against in college,

00:57 so it's always fun to match up against him.

00:59 How does it feel to win for the first time for China?

01:04 It feels great. It's obviously been a little bit of a tough road, but we've been working hard, so I think our guys deserve this.

01:10 It's a great win. I think our fans deserve it as well.

01:13 Any new picks for China?

01:16 We're taking it one step at a time right now. Let's focus on what we've got to do with the Philippines, and we'll look at that picture in a little bit.
