00:00 Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Assistant Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post. I've just come
00:04 on to talk you through some of the long reads that we've run online and in print
00:08 this week. So yeah, there's plenty to go out if you fancy delving into some
00:12 features and we've of course got our Yorkshire Post magazine coming out on
00:16 Saturday as part of our weekend edition. So at the start of the week we ran an
00:22 interview with a guy called Malcolm Bass who's a mountaineer who's ventured to
00:27 places that people had never been before him. Three years ago Malcolm
00:32 unfortunately suffered from a stroke and he spoke to us about the impact that
00:35 that's had for him. We also delved into the fight for control over the
00:41 Sheffield Live Music venue, the Leadmill, and how that speaks to wider issues of
00:47 ownership in the industry. We heard from a woman from Yorkshire who was being
00:51 supported by a Coronation Street star in a charity walk to raise awareness of
00:56 Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and we looked at how carbon capture research here in
01:03 Yorkshire is helping the UK to meet its net zero targets. We also looked at a
01:09 new film that's been created to shine a light on the fantastic work of a
01:13 Doncaster drug and alcohol service and we ran an interview with cricket
01:18 commentator Henry Blofeld who spoke to us about the success of Test Match
01:22 Special and the strength of the grassroots of the game. Finally in Arts
01:28 and Culture we looked at how Leeds Opera Festival is bringing rare opera
01:31 productions to venues in and around the city and we looked ahead to the autumn
01:36 season at more of the region's theatres. Just to note as well we've also
01:42 now got a weekly newsletter with features content that comes out every
01:48 Saturday so do consider signing up to that if you want to hear more from the
01:53 features team. There'll be everything from magazine content to health stories,
01:58 property, food and drink, arts and culture, fashion and so much more.
