00:00 >> We just saw Jared Anderson on July 1, Timmy.
00:19 He scored a knockdown against Charles Martin, the former title in the third round.
00:22 Then Martin came back in the fifth and did some damage there and then did damage very
00:27 late in the tenth.
00:28 Jared said, "Listen, I got lazy.
00:30 Sometimes I got bored.
00:31 It happens.
00:32 I wasn't truly hurt.
00:33 I was able to catch and block body shots, cover, roll under.
00:36 I was still capable.
00:37 I was fine."
00:38 But there were many critics with that performance, and he pointed to you, chief, among them,
00:43 Tim.
00:44 >> Absolutely.
00:45 You know, I always say, you know, you can see something and you see it's beautiful,
00:50 but at the same time, it shows you something.
00:53 You see flaws in what you're seeing that's beautiful.
00:57 That's all I'm saying.
00:58 I'm not saying that Jared doesn't have the goods because he does.
01:01 I just feel that he needs a little bit more seasoning, and Tomlin believes that too because
01:06 that's why he's in the ring tonight against Rodenko.
01:08 Rodenko's a tough veteran fighter.
01:12 He's only been stopped once, but on a technicality.
01:14 >> That's correct.
01:15 >> That's it.
01:16 A technicality.
01:17 He's been the distance.
01:18 He's been in the ring with Zelazel, various fighters, various top contenders out there,
01:23 and he's gone a distance with him.
01:26 >> Let's go through some of that.
01:27 You see a guy like this who's got the six losses, 39 years old, but 35 wins, but to
01:31 your point, distance fights with notable names.
01:35 >> Yes.
01:36 >> Zhele Zhang, Alexander Povetkin, Huey Fury, Lucas Frown, Khabibov.
01:42 So he's been in against experienced veteran notable heavyweights.
01:46 >> So this fight right here is a showcase fight for Jared, one, but it's more about him going
01:52 rounds.
01:53 He needs to go more rounds.
01:55 It was good for him to go ten rounds last time out.
01:58 He needs another ten rounds before he steps up his competition and starts fighting the
02:02 topper echelon of the contenders in this division.
02:06 >> Of course, we saw the top of the division earlier this afternoon.
02:10 We were able to broadcast the fight on ESPN+.
02:13 >> Alexander Usyk's ninth round knockout over Daniel Dubois.
02:27 Jared showing angles and going to the body with a right hand.
02:30 >> Look at them angles.
02:32 That's something new.
02:33 >> Sure is.
02:34 Have not seen that work and you saw it early on here a couple times in round number one.
02:38 >> Get off his head.
02:39 >> And see, that's what this is about.
02:41 It's about him showcasing his full arsenal tonight.
02:45 It's a guy that's tough, rugged, a guy that's going to bring it to him.
02:48 He's going to have plenty of opportunities to land, but I don't know if he's going to
02:51 hurt Rodenko.
02:52 We're going to see.
02:53 >> Rodenko, a durable guy that's been proven.
02:55 Look at him hanging around the back of Jared Anderson's head.
03:00 >> That's the second time that Gary Ritter, veteran referee, has had to warn him.
03:03 Good body work from Anderson.
03:06 >> Nice roll right there from Jared.
03:10 Showing good head movement now.
03:14 >> Back to the jab.
03:15 Steady work from Anderson.
03:16 Able to block that left hand from Rodenko.
03:27 Another body shot.
03:28 Left hand to the body and then stab jab.
03:30 Then comes with the right hand and sends him off balance here at the end of round number
03:34 one.
03:41 >> There's never been a better time to get away.

04:07 >> It's back.
04:08 Applebee's all you can eat boneless wings just $12.99.
04:23 >> Tim, a lot has been made of Jared Anderson turning right back around and fighting again
04:26 on 56 days.
04:27 But listen, you just go back one generation of the rising American stars and you think
04:33 about the fight frequency.
04:35 Tyson fought 15 fights in one year on his way up.
04:38 Bo fought 14 fights on his way up in one calendar year.
04:42 Jared Anderson, listen, it's this era of boxing.
04:44 15 fights in three years and ten months.
04:47 And we make a big deal out of turning around in 56 days.
04:50 These guys used to fight three times a month.
04:52 >> I understand that.
04:53 I mean, we make a big deal out of it because it's a rarity in today's boxing.
04:56 Guys don't fight enough.
04:57 They don't fight often enough.
04:58 You get the top fighters, you see them once, maybe twice a year.
05:01 You got to think about it.
05:03 Usyk just fought.
05:04 He fought a year ago.
05:06 Literally a year ago.
05:09 So it's good to see Jared wanting to stay active.
05:11 And when I asked him in the fighting room, he said, Tim, I need money.
05:14 That's what I want.
05:15 I need money.
05:16 That's the reason why I'm back so soon.
05:17 And he said, you know what?
05:19 After this fight, I'll be back in November or December.
05:21 >> That's exactly the way it should be for somebody like Jared Anderson at his age with
05:26 his skill set, being the prospect fringe contender he is at 23 years old.
05:30 Heck, full contender now.
05:32 And you think about, hey, I want money.
05:34 I want to make money.
05:35 23 years old in a division that's filled with veterans who aren't going to be there forever
05:40 when you look at the top of the heavyweight division right now and you see across the
05:43 ages of the top guys.
05:48 Right hand trying to wrap around that guard from Rodenko.
05:51 Anderson goes underneath and fires back.
05:53 Was able to land to the body in the mix there.
05:57 Rodenko tying up on the inside.
06:00 >> Tonight this fight is all about can Jared do something that all these other heavyweights,
06:05 named heavyweights out there that you mentioned, Tess, can he stop Rodenko?
06:12 >> Rodenko's only been knocked down once.
06:14 He's only lost by stoppage once.
06:16 But to your point, a technicality, that stoppage two fights ago is really a disqualification
06:21 for excessive holding and noncompetitiveness.
06:24 So only once in six career losses but never a clean stoppage, never a knockout or TKO
06:29 in that fashion.
06:30 >> Off his head.
06:31 >> We'll be seeing if Jared can open him up.
06:35 Can he crack the code?
06:36 No one has been able to.
06:39 All the guys you mentioned.
06:47 >> Right hand to the body.
06:49 Comes up top with a head shot.
06:51 Digs underneath to the body again.
06:53 Right hand up top from Rodenko.
06:55 Anderson really focused on that body of Rodenko.
07:07 >> This fight is going to be a matter of Jared not getting more than there.
07:10 It's too easy.
07:11 >> He said to us yesterday there were moments against Charles Martin he got bored.
07:15 >> Yeah.
07:16 And it's all about having supreme focus.
07:18 That's the next level.
07:19 Supreme focus.
07:20 No matter what's going on, no matter what's happening or how easy it is, you stay calm,
07:26 you stay poised, you stay focused on the mission and you get the job done.
07:30 That's what you see from the best.
07:32 >> Some solid body shots coming in from the undefeated Ohio native Jared Anderson.
07:38 We come to the end of round number two on this day/night doubleheader of heavyweight
07:43 action.
07:48 >> There's never been a better time to get away.
07:51 With a great deal on the Hyundai you've always wanted.

08:15 >> You know, every summer for as long as I can remember, I've been coming up here to
08:21 skip.
08:22 You see, it's so thin and crispy, it's not just perfect for eating.
08:25 It's also perfect for skipping.
08:27 >> Whoa.
08:28 >> You know, every -- >> The punch of the night brought to you by
08:32 auto zone comes from the unified heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk.
08:37 Both knockdowns that he scored this afternoon from Poland against Daniel Dubois.
08:41 The first a combination with a head clipping temple shot in the eighth round.
08:45 And then the finisher, that right hand that put Dubois down as Usyk goes to 21-0.
08:51 Four team knockouts and Tim retains all three of his heavyweight championship belts in front
08:57 of the adoring crowd.
08:58 A stadium in Poland filled with Ukrainian refugees and fans.
09:02 And now we can all sit back and hope that finally we will get a matchup with Tyson Fury
09:09 for an undisputed heavyweight champion.
09:11 The promoter of Alexander Usyk, Alexander Krasiuk, he said he feels his boxer has an
09:17 obligation to the sport, to the fans, to finalize a deal with Tyson Fury.
09:22 >> I agree.
09:23 1,000%.
09:24 That's the only fight that I want to see next for either guy once Fury takes care of what
09:30 he needs to take care of against Francis Ngandi.
09:34 >> Round number three here of our heavyweight main event.
09:36 Jared Anderson in control early against Rodenko.
09:38 >> I just spoke with Darryl Riley and had a nice exchange with Jared Anderson.
09:42 He said just keep doing what you're doing.
09:44 Stick to that jab.
09:45 Keep digging to the body.
09:46 Looked at him and said I got you, coach.
09:49 >> He's landed 40% of his jabs to that point, Bernardo, and he's already landed.
09:54 And we're only a minute into round three.
09:56 27 body connects.
10:00 >> And you see Jared now when he's pulling, you see him raise his left hand up and he's
10:06 taking the right hand on the glove.
10:11 As opposed in the past you see him pull straight back and his hands are not in place.
10:16 So that's an adjustment by him and his team.
10:19 Now he's fighting from the southpaw stance.
10:21 That's the thing.
10:22 He's ambidextrous.
10:23 He's actually left-handed, believe it or not.
10:25 Fights well from the southpaw stance as well as the orthodox stance.
10:28 >> He is naturally left-handed but traditionally fights orthodox.
10:33 But here he is as a southpaw.
10:34 >> And he goes with the left hand to the body from that southpaw stance.
10:39 So the back power hand, yet another body shot.
10:42 And again.
10:43 >> Off his head.
10:44 >> Stop.
10:45 >> Off his head.
10:46 >> Okay.
10:47 >> Man, you see the redness on his stomach.
10:51 He got his stomach looking like a four cheese hot pocket right now with the cheese coming
10:55 out of it.
10:56 >> My God, you see that with the sauce coming out?
10:58 My God.
10:59 I'm serious.
11:00 He digging down in the guts.
11:03 >> My goodness.
11:04 I don't know how much more he's going to be able to take of this body work.
11:08 >> No more.
11:09 Around his head.
11:11 >> Stern warning as Gary Ritter admonishes Rodenko for wrapping around and holding onto
11:15 the head of Jarrett Anderson.
11:17 That started in round number one.
11:19 There's a jab to the body as he continues that assault to that midsection and now that
11:24 left flank as he comes with an inside uppercut.
11:27 >> See, Tess, this is what I expected.
11:30 Again, the challenge is for Jarrett is to stop Rodenko.
11:34 That's it.
11:35 He's going to hit him.
11:36 Rodenko is going to be right there in front of him.
11:39 It's how much more he can take or if he can get the referee or his corner to stop that.
11:44 >> Five more body punches from Jarrett Anderson and again and again and again.
11:55 >> There's never been a better time to get away.
11:58 With a great deal on the Hyundai you've always wanted.
12:01 With America's best warranty and after three years complimentary maintenance.
12:07 It's your journey.
12:08 Own every mile at the Hyundai getaway sales event.
12:11 Now is the time to get in and get away.
12:14 Now for a limited time, get up to 2500 bonus cash plus complimentary maintenance on the
12:19 Tucson or Santa Fe.
12:21 Visit buyHyundai.com.
12:22 >> Jarrett Anderson is warming up in a hot pocket.
12:28 No doubt about it.
12:29 The body shots that he's putting on Rodenko is ridiculous.
12:32 I mean, stab jabs, coming around, head control right there, digging downstairs with both
12:38 hands.
12:39 You know, this is the way you slow down your opponent.
12:42 I mean, he's been doing this from the opening bell.
12:44 I mean, I expected this coming in this fight.
12:47 Rodenko doesn't have a whole lot of skill.
12:51 You know, has a lot of toughness, has a lot of, I would say, somewhat of ability as far
12:56 as toughness goes.
12:57 But that's it.
12:58 Not a whole lot of skills.
13:00 So Jarrett Anderson just piecing together a masterpiece going down to the body of Rodenko.
13:07 >> Tim, coming into this fight, 30% of Anderson's landed punches are body shots.
13:12 So far tonight, it's 58%.
13:15 58% of his landed punches are body shots.
13:19 He has 42 body punch connects as we start round number four.
13:26 >> I mean, you see how big the body is of Rodenko.
13:29 He keeps it open.
13:30 You know, he depends on a high guard when he's retreating.
13:35 Bringing the hands up and Jarrett is just taking advantage of him.
13:38 >> You're holding again.
13:39 >> But it says a lot about Jarrett's IQ.
13:54 That's what it says a lot about.
13:55 His IQ, his ring IQ.
13:56 He notices mistakes.
14:00 He understands what he needs to do to get the victory.
14:03 He knew going into this fight that he was going to have to stay focused and he's going
14:07 to have to beat this man and force this man to cough it up if he can't knock him out.
14:14 >> Very consistent tonight early on.
14:16 Very focused and consistent.
14:17 >> Yeah, but I'm impressed with the defense as well.
14:19 >> Yes.
14:20 >> With his hands placement as well.
14:21 I mean, he's not getting hit with silly things.
14:23 >> He's blocking punches.
14:24 >> Yes.
14:25 So you know he's been working in the gym on his defense.
14:32 >> Good dip to that left side.
14:34 Another body punch.
14:40 Two punch combination to the belt line again.
14:43 Digs with the left hand to the body.
14:45 And now a combination from the southpaw stance with a split the guard back left hand.
14:55 White Hope trying to get around that guard.
14:58 Long left hand to the body.
14:59 >> I don't know how Rodenko's taking these body shots.
15:04 It's unreal.
15:05 I mean, Jarrett is landing on both sides.
15:09 Even to the solar plex with these body shots.
15:15 >> Takes an angle and goes to the body.
15:17 By the way, I know you just saw that pop up from ocean.
15:19 Luis Alberto Lopez, Joette Gonzalez.
15:22 Good IBF featherweight title fight on ESPN on September 15th.
15:26 Lopez coming off that great brutal TKO of Mick Conlin back in May.
15:31 That should be a fun one, Timmy, September 15th.
15:33 >> Oh, yes, it is.
15:34 I can't wait for that one.
15:35 It's gonna be exciting.
15:36 I don't know who's gonna win that match.
15:43 >> Another big round for Jarrett Anderson.
15:45 Banked early on.
15:46 More damage done to that body for Rodenko.
15:59 >> You know, every summer, for as long as I can remember, I've been coming up here to
16:03 skip.
16:04 You see, it's so thin and crispy, it's not just perfect for eating.
16:09 It's also perfect for skipping.
16:11 >> Whoa.
16:13 >> You know, every summer, for as long as I can remember, slices of thin crust pizza
16:17 just fly out of the lake.
16:19 Like a miracle.
16:20 I got one!
16:21 >> Me too!
16:22 >> The lake give us thin crust!
16:23 >> It's a hot and ready thin crust summer at Little Caesars.
16:28 >> Pizza, pizza.
16:29 >> Here's to experiencing the greatness of a Great Lakes shoreline in Wisconsin.
16:34 Here's to just getting away.
16:37 And to remembering what you love best about your besties.
16:41 Here's to those who Wisconsin.
16:45 >> Big corporation?
16:47 Not quite.
16:48 96% of the farms in Illinois are actually owned and operated by families.
16:55 Illinois Family Farmers.
16:56 We are the 96%.
17:01 >> I don't want to ruin the suspense for you fellas, but I got it.
17:04 Four rounds to nothing.
17:06 Jared "Batman" Anderson over Andre "Headlock" Radenko.
17:10 Listen!
17:11 >> Look at this.
17:12 Just on cue, Mark.
17:13 You said "Headlock" Radenko.
17:15 And here is Gary Ritter deducting a point for doing the same thing over and over.
17:21 >> You know, Radenko is not such a bad fighter.
17:24 I think he's shown us a lot more tonight than the guy who was supposed to fight last time,
17:29 Jared, Kossubutski.
17:30 But he's -- he ain't a bad fighter, but he's a great grappler.
17:35 >> John Kossubutski was in our co-feature moments ago and was disqualified for excessive
17:40 low blows against F.A.
17:42 Ajagba.
17:43 And now here in this main event, Jared Anderson has been dominating in every way possible
17:49 the jab, but the body punches specifically, Timmy.
17:52 I just glanced over the CompuBox numbers for a moment.
17:55 In four rounds, he's landed 61 body punches.
17:57 61.
17:58 >> All right, now what you're seeing is Jared just changing up the cadence now, using speed
18:03 as opposed to just punching power.
18:05 Trying to -- trying to switch things up a bit.
18:12 Jared got to be careful not to hurt his hands on the head of Radenko.
18:16 >> They were actually talking about that in the corner, Timmy.
18:19 But see, but the change in cadence right here, setting up even more offense, and it also
18:24 hides his power shots.
18:25 So he can come quick with a four-punch combination and set up a big shot off of it.
18:32 >> Radenko does not look good at all here in round five.
18:34 Not at all.
18:35 >> Look at this attack to the head.
18:38 Anderson all over him.
18:39 Head shot after head shot.
18:42 Radenko's not firing back, just covering up.
18:45 Split the guard with a left hand.
18:48 More power shots.
18:49 Goes to the body in the mix of it.
18:51 This is a brutal beating that Jared Anderson's putting down, and it ends in a TKO victory
18:58 in five.
18:59 >> There it is.
19:00 He did it.
19:01 >> Good job.
19:02 Thank you for that work.
19:03 >> He did it, Tess.
19:04 >> I mean, from start to finish, that was as fine of a performance of offensive output
19:17 and varied offensive output with a heavy concentration on the body as we have seen from Jared Anderson.
19:26 That was just sensational offensive work.
19:30 >> I was more impressed with the defense, Tess.
19:31 >> He added defense to play.
19:32 >> That's what I was more impressed with.
19:33 The offense, I knew it was going to be there, Tess, but I was impressed with the defense
19:37 of Jared Anderson.
19:38 >> Especially coming off of your criticism of July 4th.
19:41 >> He was responsible defensively, and that's what's missing in part of his game, I have
19:45 to say.
19:46 When he brings this type of defense and this type of offense into the ring with any of
19:49 these top heavyweights out there, think about it.
19:52 He has a dang good chance of beating any of these guys.
19:56 So good performance by him.
19:58 I'm glad he found the key.
19:59 He got it done, and he's done something that a lot of these guys, and even Zhang, Zhang,
20:05 that's fighting against Joe Joyce, he couldn't stop this man, and he was able to do that
20:09 tonight.
20:10 >> His brother, Debra, and his family always supporting him.
20:17 Jared Anderson now 16-0 with 15 knockouts.
20:26 >> Ladies and gentlemen, here inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Tulsa, Oklahoma, referee
20:33 Gary Ritter calls a stop to this bout at 1 minute, 40 seconds of round number 5.
20:40 For your winner by technical knockout, and still the WBC USA and WBO international heavyweight
20:48 champion, Jared "The Real Big Baby" Anderson.
20:54 >> A reminder, we will have our full post-fight coverage, including the heavyweight championship
21:01 highlights and analysis on the state of boxing on the ESPN app, but after this short break,
21:07 We will hear from Jarrett Anderson after his win here in
