00:00 (whooshing)
00:02 - Question for Zubin.
00:06 - Zubin, there's a possibility,
00:07 depending on how things work out,
00:08 that you might be the guy in that season opener.
00:12 Do you feel like you're ready to step up to that role?
00:15 - I mean, like your mindset is just to work, man,
00:20 and just grind like every single day,
00:22 and just, yeah, man, just hold on to my teammates every day.
00:27 That's about it.
00:29 (camera shutter clicking)
00:31 - How'd you think that the first game went,
00:32 or things you wanted to work on in the last game,
00:34 when you got better at it?
00:35 What was your takeaways,
00:36 and how you played the last two games?
00:38 - It was all right.
00:40 There's always room for me to get better.
00:42 Yeah, for me and us to get better.
00:46 So we just gotta go out,
00:47 spend time, and go to practice, and go to work.
00:49 That's about it.
00:49 - Having those extra snaps at practice,
00:54 how much has that been able to help you
00:56 and the rest of the room
00:57 to be able to get more physical?
00:59 - A lot.
01:00 Yeah, just having them extra reps,
01:02 and just doing it repeatedly,
01:04 it makes the game slow down for you.
01:07 And yeah, that's about it.
01:10 - How do you feel the improvement as well
01:13 with pass catching,
01:15 with that side of the game for you,
01:17 being out on the field with that?
01:18 - Yeah, so we catch every day before practice,
01:20 and before practice, and after practice.
01:25 So that's the main goal of mine,
01:27 working on that.
01:28 Yes, sir.
01:29 - Did it feel good, confidence-wise,
01:31 just to get that catch the other day?
01:33 - Oh yeah, for sure.
01:34 Yeah, for sure.
01:35 'Cause on the call, I was like,
01:38 "Oh yeah, finally, finally,
01:39 "but they're about to throw me a ball."
01:40 So I was like, "Cool, but let me get this one."
01:43 Yeah, yeah, it was cool.
01:45 - Blocking, and Josh McDaniels has mentioned blocking
01:49 as a big part of what you have to do as a running back.
01:52 - Yes, sir.
01:53 - How far do you feel like you've come in that area?
01:55 - I would say pretty,
01:57 I'm getting better at it,
01:59 and better at it every day,
02:00 because we do the one-on-ones every day,
02:02 so we work at it every single day.
02:05 So yeah, we work on it.
02:07 - What was your biggest transition from last year
02:10 to this year, just the confidence?
02:13 How's the different emotions?
02:15 - The difference is probably the reps,
02:18 the more reps I take.
02:20 'Cause I take a lot of reps,
02:21 and I just be more locked in,
02:23 and I got to have it right.
02:26 So reps probably,
02:28 but just going through that process over and over,
02:30 and just finding the key points in the fronts,
02:32 and the blitzes, and just knowing all that stuff.
02:36 - You talked about just preparing the same way,
02:39 no matter what the role is,
02:40 but is there a way to prepare for, say, taking 25 hits,
02:43 or in your case, delivering 25 hits in a game?
02:46 Well, is there a way to prepare for that?
02:49 - Honestly, shoot, man, just grind it out, man.
02:52 That's about it.
02:53 But it's on ball, man.
02:55 But you got to take the pretty side, but ugly side.
02:59 So, just head down, keep working.
03:01 That's about it.
03:02 - Running back, let's talk about getting into a rhythm,
03:05 and sometimes you need six, seven carries
03:06 to get into that rhythm.
03:07 What's the, going back to when you were in college,
03:10 what was that sweet spot for you
03:11 when you felt like, okay, the legs feel good,
03:14 the rhythm feels good, the vision feels good?
03:16 - Alignment blocking, for one.
03:18 Yeah, the alignment come first,
03:20 first because their job is already mine.
03:22 So, just being fluent with my runs,
03:27 and being patient, and reading gaps,
03:29 linebackers, and stuff like that.
03:31 - Last year, there was a lot of moving pieces
03:35 with that offensive line.
03:36 Now, having consistency,
03:37 and having the same guys in front of you,
03:39 how much does that help you
03:40 and the rest of the guys in the room?
03:41 - A whole, man, a whole lot,
03:43 because them guys work hard every single day.
03:45 So, yes, sir, a lot.
03:47 - You have a couple good games now,
03:50 or good showings, when the preseason,
03:52 sometimes last year,
03:53 and so, after every game,
03:53 you're saying, "I could do better,"
03:55 or, "I was all right."
03:56 - Always.
03:57 - Is that just your mentality,
03:58 and where'd that come from?
03:59 Has that helped you get to this point?
04:00 - Definitely, and that came from my high school coach,
04:03 and my middle school coach.
04:05 There's always room to go farther and farther.
04:09 Yeah, it's not here, just keep on going.
04:11 - Was there a time,
04:14 or when was the last time after a game
04:15 when you felt like, "All right,
04:16 "I had a good night tonight."
04:18 - Never.
04:19 (laughing)
04:20 Never.
04:21 Yeah, never.
04:22 My Uncle Ant, man,
04:23 he's my main critic.
04:25 On a high school, bro,
04:28 I had probably about 300-some yards,
04:32 but he was just, "Yeah, yeah, this and that."
04:35 I'm like, "All right, okay, I got you."
04:38 (laughing)
04:38 So.
04:39 - You have a network,
04:40 you go out to your games now, and--
04:41 - All of them, all of them.
04:43 Yes.
04:44 - So you get calls.
04:44 - The same way, the same way.
04:46 Never too good.
04:46 - It's Uncle--
04:49 - Ant.
04:50 - Ant, okay.
04:51 - All right.
04:52 - Ant.
04:53 - Hoping to change that on opening night?
04:55 - I hope so.
04:55 (laughing)
04:56 I hope so.
04:57 Yeah.
04:58 - Have you talked much to Josh Jacobs?
05:01 - He texted me yesterday,
05:02 like just checking on me.
05:03 Yeah, that's about it though,
05:04 but yeah, that's it.
05:05 - How big is that for you,
05:07 getting the support from somebody
05:08 that was with you in that role mid last year?
05:11 - That's huge, man,
05:12 because last year,
05:13 Josh was helping me out with plays
05:14 and all that type of stuff.
05:15 So we was real close last year,
05:17 just hanging out here, home.
05:19 So it's huge.
05:21 >> That was good.
05:23 Awesome. Thank you.
05:24 >> Thank you all.
